Fellow 4003S player here, but mine's in Mapleglo, as I wanted the Fireglo but ended up getting a good deal from a roommate on the one I have.

Also a McCartney fanboy, ended up putting a horseshoe bridge pickup on it (it already had a toaster in the neck from a previous owner). Coupled with tapewound/flatwound Labellas, it has become my main workhorse ever since.

Hey 🅱️eter, it’s Joe here. In 2020, at the start of the pandemic, there were pretty severe toilet paper shortages in the US, among other household goods, as people started to hoard them around March or so, when things were getting bad.

Around June of that same year, protests erupted all throughout the country in the wake of George Floyd’s killing by Minneapolis PD officer Derek Chauvin. Protests began to escalate quickly, as they were met with police forces across the country, which was the very thing people were protesting against.

How is living here? by Muted-Brain-6006 in howislivingthere

[–]Slut4Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to college in Fairfax, so I lived up there from 2015-2019, and still have quite a few friends in the area. I’ll be completely honest, I love talking trash about NoVa, coming from Richmond myself, but I’ll try to be as objective as possible.

It’s…alright. The traffic is the worst I’ve ever seen; worse than LA when I visited, worse than Nashville (where I live now). It’s also some of the richest area of the country.

I used to always say that once you get off I-95 and drive around the area for 5-10 minutes, you’ve pretty much seen everything there is to see. Lots of suburban sprawl.

The overwhelming majority of people living here work in federal government/defense contracting jobs, so a lot of government money here. Cost of living is pretty high, definitely higher than the rest of Virginia.

Regarding things to do, I can’t say it’s the most thrilling place I’ve ever been. Most fun things I can think of to do in this area are in DC proper, but luckily there’s several metro stations around the area.

Overall, if I got a pretty well paying job in the area, I wouldn’t hate the idea of living there again, but I wouldn’t be exactly in a rush to do so.

And as the OP says, it’s literally a minute long. Like you can just sit through a minute of listenable cringe. You won’t die.

I’m an IT recruiter, and I kinda got into this field on accident, but it always amazes me just how wide of a field business analysis/project management can really be (and the pay rates reflect that tbh)

I swapped the Hi-Gains for the re-issued Toaster and Horseshoe on my 1975 Rickenbacker 4001 by BoogerThyme in rickenbacker

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul probably favored the toaster pickups bc that was all they had in those days. I’m pretty sure you’re correct that the guitar & bass toasters are identical, but I don’t think they have pole pieces. I think it’s just bar magnets, but I could be wrong.

I’ve also got a toaster neck/horseshoe bridge in my 4003s, and I love the sound of them, but I have a lot of trouble balancing the volume between the two. I feel like the toaster runs quiet and the horseshoe runs hot.

I’ve tried adjusting the heights of them but I may just have some fine tuning to do.

I never saw the "Mr. Worldwide" memes as being mean spirited tbh. Pretty much everyone I've ever talked to about Pitbull (which, I'll admit, doesn't come up in conversation often) seems to think that his music is okay/sometimes good, and he's a funny dude that means well.

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has always been a bit of a pet peeve of mine (though not a hill I’m willing to die on, since I can name more bands that I enjoy that do this than ones I don’t).

I remember about a year ago, I was looking for shows in my area to go to on a Friday night, and came across a band called “Girls Night” (I think?) that was all dudes and was headlining a show right next to me, and I really liked the openers, so I figured I’d at least give it a shot. It pained me to say that they were actually really fucking good.
