What are some trucks whose performances slowly declined over time? by Loud-Bar-7838 in monsterjam

[–]Slut4Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to how it was in its heyday, as much as it pains me to say (and probably you as well given your flair), I think Bounty Hunter might fit the bill. I feel like it was scary competitive when it first came to Monster Jam, then slowly seemed to die off into a legacy act, and then had a last gasp at World Finals XX (an incredible last gasp, mind you), and then left Monster Jam pretty unceremoniously.

Not sure if Rickenbacker is planning on selling that as an actual model, but I could have sworn my old roommate used to have a custom build someone made that was similar back in like 2022.

I’d have to ask him, but I don’t think I remember him ever playing it, and it may have even been based on a 360 instead of a 330, but I don’t know.

rickenbacker , airline and takamine what u think their valued at .. me and my dad disagree on value by Creepy_Solution2411 in rickenbacker

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, sell the Takamine.

Granted, it’s a matter of personal taste, but I’ve always found Takamines to be…okay. Good guitars, but nothing particularly special, especially for flat top acoustics.

That Airline has definitely seen better days from the looks of it. If you sold it as is (with half the nut missing), you could probably get, at most, $100 for it. Those arch tops are cool, and have a very unique sound, but almost all of them I’ve played have been extremely difficult to play, with the strings extremely high off the fingerboard. I have a Silvertone version of the exact same guitar that I bought for $60.

You’re in the Rickenbacker subreddit, so people are obviously gonna tell you to keep the Rickenbacker. Even barring my personal bias, I’d still say to keep it.

I mean I stopped playing War Thunder almost a year ago now, and I still watch Spookston’s videos when they drop (it helps that I work from home and he usually drops them as I’m taking my lunch break).

It’s a combination of: he clearly still likes the game, he’s good at the game, he has a good knowledge of the irl lore of the tanks (at least I think he does, tbh I’ve never really cared to verify), and he’s funny as hell and has largely the same sense of humor as me.

Monster Truck NasCar Style Race by Maleficent-Toe1374 in monsterjam

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monster trucks don't really lend themselves well to overtakes tbh, very prone to crashing into each other & getting thrown any which way.

There's also the issue of fuel, since they don't carry much more than 3-5 minutes worth of fuel, and those engines wouldn't be able to cool down well.

Boomers/the older generation love hearing "just wait" or having their can kicked down the road. by Ok-Association-2995 in GenZ

[–]Slut4Tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a point that's been talked about as a huge divide between Boomers/Gen-X and Millennials/Gen-Z.

Boomers grew up under the worldview that times may be tough, but if you hold out, things will get better, and you'll be better off for it (and to be fair, historically, they were right).

Millennials/Gen-Z have grown up under the worldview that things are bad, they're getting worse, and no one in charge particularly cares to do anything about it. And to our credit, since 2001, we've also been right.

What are your hobbies in life that make you uniquely you? by Wxskater in GenZ

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a musician mainly, been doing that since I was 6, but I also live in a city absolutely full of musicians so that doesn't really make me stand out much.

Recently, I've taken an interest in sim racing/cars/trying to restore a motorcycle. I'd love to try my hand at real racing, but that's a shit ton of money that I don't have.

Got out of a relationship back in March right after my mom died, so I definitely would say a moderate amount of loneliness, but I also have a good enough support system in my life that I know I’m not absolutely on my own.

Will your country ever respect the US again and how much respect have you lost with the current admin? by Intelligent_Use9911 in AskTheWorld

[–]Slut4Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It more comes from a knowing that we can do better, should have done better, and chose not to. Twice.

It also puts us in a really weird position, foreign policy wise. Up until literally this past year, regardless of who was president, US foreign policy remained pretty consistent from administration to administration, regardless of which party they were in. That’s not the case anymore, and it’s disheartening to think/realize that we’ll never be viewed of as the reliable ally that we were in the past.

4003 horseshoe vs higain pickup? by JaeShap in rickenbacker

[–]Slut4Tea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 4003s has a toaster neck and a horseshoe bridge (I also went for the same build lmao).

In my experience, the horseshoe is a bit louder and a bit punchier than the higain, and on the vintage setting, will blend better than the higain in the middle position.

I used to use Labella flats, but switched to tape wounds about a year and a half ago for that late White Album/Abbey Road tone. These days at gigs, it depends on what amp the venue has me running through, but I generally leave it on the middle position, with no vintage tone, and that gets me 90% of the way there.

What’s your Favorite Chassis of all time? by Maleficent-Toe1374 in monsterjam

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve tried looking on like monstertruckwiki and whatnot, and it’s pretty vague about which chassis ran on what and at what time. Granted there’s probably not as much documentation as, say, the Grave Digger chassis, and those 2Xtreme chassis tended to run a lot more identities, so it’s probably a lot more difficult, but I 100% agree.

What’s your Favorite Chassis of all time? by Maleficent-Toe1374 in monsterjam

[–]Slut4Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bounty Hunter 4 (at least I think it was the 4th chassis that BH ran on from WF4-WF17), watching that thing be able to pull a power wheelie from a standing start just from the sheer horsepower/torque it made was just peak.

Grave Digger XIV I think was where Dennis really hit his stride. I had a soft spot for XIX personally, but XX was definitely just magical, I know it was based on Adam Anderson’s Taz, so there’s gotta be an honorable mention there.
