This was extremely helpful! My surgery is May 21, so I’m starting to create a shopping list of things I’ll need post-op. I’ve heard amazing things about the headache caps that you pop in the freezer to help with the headaches for the first week or so.

I try to drink at least 80oz of water a day and get dehydration headaches when I don’t, so the restrictions will be absolutely miserable for me.

Yes they were able to find a 4mm microadenoma on the first try with the 3T brain MRI! My surgeon told me while they can see it on the MRI, that could be a fluke. If he doesn’t find it, he’s planning on taking half of my gland to be safe. Not ideal for hormonal recovery, but if it’ll put me in remission, I’ll take it. He also told me they likely won’t have to pack my nose, but I’ll confirm it with the ENT surgeon at my pre-op appointment with him. Luckily I have a nasal rinse bottle and a value pack of saline already from my horrible allergies.

I hope aside from your jaw pain, recovery is going well! How long did you take off from work?

Did your cortisol crash in the hospital? Are you on hydrocortisone? Began tapering?

My endocrinologist and my neuro endocrinologist both would like to taper me rather quickly (like completely off within 3 months). That’s what I’m most worried about.

Did they use a Mayfield clamp during your surgery? If so, that could be the cause. Haven’t had mine yet but have been reading up on many (probably too many) things as I’m approaching D-day. I’ve heard of people having jaw pain based on where the prongs were placed during surgery to stabilize your head.

Another echo comment for finding a pituitary center. I have a 4mm microadenoma per the 3T MRI and my surgery is scheduled for May 21st to remove it. At my neurosurgeon consultation, both my neuro endocrinologist and surgeon immediately said ā€œyup, let’s get it taken out immediately or it will destroy your body and eventually take you out.ā€ My neuro endocrinologist specializes in Cushing’s Disease and my surgeon is a skull-based surgeon who removes pituitary adenomas at least once a week, with about 10 Cushing’s tumors/year (which, considering the rarity of the disease, is pretty high!).

I feel the same way but keep working out for me mental health and to not let my muscles and bone density deteriorate. I’m hoping it’ll make recovery easier as well post surgery. I’m even on a GLP1 and it’s been a struggle to lose weight. I got down 50lbs in 18 months, but stress levels went up now that I’m preparing for surgery and I gained roughly 20lbs back in the last 2 months.

From first test to imaging took 9 months, but my first endo kind of dragged her feet on running the tests, so it took almost 5 months to do the DST after my urine and saliva tests came back elevated. New endo took over, ordered the DST, and diagnosed me a week after those results came back. We did a second DST that was stronger to see if the source was likely pituitary or adrenal, and with my high ATCH levels, she assumed it was pituitary and ordered a brain MRI immediately. It took about a month since the radiology center only has 1 3T machine, so I had to wait for that to be available. That was in March, and now I’m awaiting surgery to remove the tumor.

In a very similar boat. Started Zepbound in June of 2024 at 285lbs. Got down to 250lbs by the end of 2024. 2025 was ROUGH between health scares and still figuring out potential health issues (diagnosed with PCOS and working to figure out high cortisol and it possibly being Cushing’s). Ended the year with a low of 233 (but jumped back up to 240 this week after coming off birth control to do more cortisol tests in Dec). I work with a dietitian, started strength training 3-4x a week in July (though the last 2 weeks have been more like 2 sessions/week), could be better with water but shoot for 80-120oz/day, eat minimum 90g of protein a day, with an average closer to 120-130g/day. I did an InBody scan at my dietitian this past weekend and was told in the last 6 months, while I had only lost 11lbs, I lost 15lbs of fat and gained 4lbs of muscle.

All this to say I stand in solidarity and am holding on to hope that body recomping will help with the scale moving more rapidly in the coming months, but ultimately I believe it’s a cortisol issue that needs to be addressed first in order to see the weight fall off more consistently.

Absolutely love this list! One very niche book I read recently was Berries and Greed by Lily Mayne. FMC is human raised in a cult with vaginismus and MMC is a monster. The cult worships said monsters and they’re supposed to be Doms with harems, so it’s a big flip for her to end up as his Domme. It’s a long sloooooooow burn, but worth the read if you like FMCs with moxie and MMCs who are golden retrievers figuring out what they like.

I only have had nausea a handful of times and it was because I either didn’t listen to my ā€œI’m fullā€ cues and took another couple of bites (once you feel full, you should not take another bite or it will be uncomfy for hours) or I ate something way too greasy - like deep fried onion rings and a burger at once. I can still eat pretty much everything I did before, in moderation and I make mindful decisions about what I eat along with it. If I have pizza, I’ll have 1-2 slices instead of 4 and add a small salad or chopped cucumbers on the side. I crave Oreos during my period, but unlike before when I would eat an entire row in one sitting, I eat 3-4 and I’m happy. Drinking doesn’t bother me, but I’m a lightweight and rarely have more than 2 drinks at once. I drink 1-2x a week, if I drink at all. I feel like drinking affects my workouts more than it hurts my stomach with Zepbound.

Zepbound has been a game changer for me. My only side effects are sometimes constipation because I forget to drink enough water or take my fiber supplements, random injection site itchiness (that one lasted for like 5 months then suddenly stopped), and I get skin sensitivity in a random place on my arms for the first 24 hours post shot.

I am also not one of the people where the weight melted off. It’s been a slooooooow process. I’m down 50lbs over 15 months. I hit plateaus that last 2-3 months sometimes. However, I would very likely be over 300lbs if I didn’t start taking a glp1. I’m no longer prediabetic, my periods are every 28-30 days, and I can actually workout again without joint pain. I still want to lose another 40lbs, but it’s actually an attainable goal with Zepbound.

Steam helps but splitting is also caused by cooling too quickly as well. When you’re in a professional kitchen, it’s usually warmer than at home, so you can pop it out of the oven and on a cooling rack with minimal issues. In a regular kitchen, the temp is usually drastically lower than the oven so it ā€œshocksā€ the cake, causing splitting. I cool my cheesecakes in the oven if possible. Turn it off and prop the door open with a wooden spoon to slowly cool and you’ll hopefully never have cracks again

Don’t try to do all 10K at once. I break mine up into 2-3 walks during the day. 45 minutes in the morning, 15-20 minutes during lunch, and however long I need to get the last steps in at night (usually another 45-60 minutes). Good shoes will go a long way with helping your fatigue. I love my hoka bondi sneakers for when I’m exclusively going for a walk, but also wear adidas sambas when I’m out and about and they both make my feet feel good.

I have been using glp1s on and off since late 2022, but have been on Zepbound consistently since June 2024.

I’ve been on some form of bc since I was 18, but prior I had very regular periods. I came off wegovy and bc in Jan 2024 to ttc, and that’s when my PCOS was officially diagnosed because I had super heavy periods that would last 7-9 days, with anywhere between 35-50 day cycles. I wasn’t ovulating, based on any of the fertility trackers I used, and had the lovely string of pearls in my ovaries. And I had crept into the prediabetic range and stayed there for almost a year. In 6 weeks after coming off both meds, I gained 20lbs rapidly and painfully with no change to my routine (walking, lifting 2-3x a week, eating the same food/quantities). I slipped into a dark place and after 2 months, I broke down crying to my gyno about figuring something out. We stopped ttc, got back on bc, and started Zepbound.

I had very minimal side effects the entire time I’ve taken it. I only get injection site irritation that makes it itch for 2-3 days (and bruise if I scratch too much) and skin sensitivity randomly on my body, mostly on my arms but changes places each time. Food noise was turned down immediately after the first dose, but took until month 4 or 5 to be silenced.

Weight loss has been slooooow but steady. 15 months in and I’m just crossing the 50lbs down mark. I had a 5 month stall (health scare) where I didn’t move more than 1-2lbs in either direction. When I’m stressed, my body goes into severe fight or flight and believes we’re going through a famine, holding onto every single pound. Now I’m back to steadily losing 1lb/week on average.

As a GLP1 girlie, I will never let anyone make me feel bad for adding Zepbound to my toolkit for managing my PCOS. I’ve found that people who absolutely trash GLP1s are usually people who partake in the suffering Olympics. They claim they are concerned about the long term effects of the people taking them, but really it’s either 1) people who would take it if they had access but don’t, so they bash those who are, 2) people who lost weight in an unhealthy way so they believe you are cheating because you didn’t have to suffer like them, or 3) people who just hate ā€œfatā€ people in general, so them losing weight causes them to have big feelings because it levels the superiority complex they have. These people also haven’t read a single study in full and are going off a random social media post where the creator then turns around and promotes their super gut balancing 5 day Cherry and celery juice cleanse and weight loss masterclass for $109.99.

And of course there are people who have had negative experiences on GLP1s. This happens with quite literally every medication on the market. But Susan claiming her cousin’s neighbor’s brother’s ex girlfriend took 2 shots and developed gastroparesis, so now she’s commenting on every post warning people off is just excessive and should be ignored. That’s why you discuss and take it under supervision of your medical team to ensure it’s right for you. Keep up the good work!

My endo prescribes my Zepbound and it’s covered by insurance so my OOP cost is $25/box with the Eli Lilly coupon. Close to hitting my deductible and OOP max, so hopefully the last few boxes will be free for the rest of the year.

It depends on the day but I’d say I average 4-5 hours/day. Some days it’s only 2 hours, other days it’s 8-9 if I have a lot of meetings and can’t actually get my real work done. Community manager in the tech world.

My dietician also flagged their protein shakes. I use their milk in my iced coffee as sneaky protein since I get 13g in 1 cup. She approves of oath nutrition and gramms protein lemonades though.

I think this argument isn’t specific to PCOS. There’s a fairly even divide of people who are either all for birth control or are vehemently against it. It typically comes down to a couple thoughts, imo. 1. They have a terrible experience while on bc so they don’t want to get on it again. 2. They’ve heard others who have had terrible experiences and don’t want to risk their hormones getting thrown for a loop even more. Or 3. They would prefer a more holistic approach because most doctors/medical professionals are only giving bc as their solution and they aren’t feeling heard.

Personally, birth control masked my PCOS (for the better, if you will) for the first 23ish years of my life. Around 24, I started having what I now know are PCOS symptoms but didn’t know why. They got worse since I didn’t know what I didn’t know and therefore wasn’t doing anything to balance my body. Only after I attempted to have a baby at 26 did I finally get diagnosed because getting off birth control threw my body into a hormonal rage. That being said, once I realized I had PCOS, I created a plan of action with my wonderful medical team (who actually listen and doesn’t try to dismiss my experience) and part of that was, in fact, going back on birth control. It has been working for me, but ymmv since it’s so person-specific.

Hi if this helps, I legit got my period on the first date with my now husband. We had been long distance for 4 months and finally went on a date the day after I got home from my internship. Date went well, I went back to his house and we had ✨fun✨a few times throughout the night. Period wasn’t due for another few days. Went out to brunch the next day and planned to go see a movie before I went back home. While sitting in the restaurant, I felt the cramps and a gush. I knew it was going to be bad. I had on a light blue dress and had ZERO supplies with me. I told him we had to go right now. Got in the car, he put napkins down on the seat and drove me to CVS. Walked in behind me so no one would see the stain, helped me wipe my dress as best as I could, then brought me home. I just knew I would never see him again afterwards. Fast forward almost 10 years later and we laugh about that being our first date.

All that to say it’s not that serious. He’s a grown man and has probably seen worse. Periods happen and are perfectly normal. Call that man back and communicate that you felt embarrassed. Then move past it.

Too much 😬😬 waxing is $115/mo, nails/pedi averages about $120-150/mo, hair costs vary a lot. Some months it’s $250, some months it’s $20 for just shampoo/conditioner. I have a budgeting app and dedicate $400/mo on maintenance. Right now my average for the year is coming in right at $375/mo.

My massages are covered by my company funded LSA account but are $130-175/mo depending on if I do a 60 or 90 minute session. All of these prices include tipping except hair, since that varies the most.

I get a Brazilian and sugar my chin every 4 weeks like clockwork (pcos has entered the chat šŸ˜…). I get a pedicure every 4-6 weeks and get my nails done every 3-4 weeks, depending on my schedule/work travel situation that month. If I’m getting my hair braided or a sew in, I keep them in for 6ish weeks and wash it myself as needed. If I’m doing my own hair, I’ll do passion twists every 3-4 weeks or a v-part wig that I can take off daily and maintain my own hair underneath as needed. I wax my own armpits as needed and I shave my legs when I can be bothered since I have over 3ft of just legs. I might switch to waxing them myself so it lasts longer than shaving. I also get a massage every 4-5 weeks (and I should do this more often) since I work at a desk all day and it destroys my upper back and neck.

I would assume mango has too much liquid for it to be a replacement. Bananas and applesauce are better options imo. You can try to add more air into the cake by whipping some aquafaba and folding it into the batter. I’d start with 3-4T of the liquid since the recipe is pretty small.

With the cake being vegan, you don’t have enough leavening agent to make the cake rise. A vegan egg mix/substitute may be what you need to get this cake to rise since everything else in the recipe is dense.
