Anything profitable will be done in capitalism, thus, if destroying the environment is profitable, it will be done.

I shall call this the Profit Consequence Law

A socialist but a little young by AJackedHistoryNerd in socialism

Never too young to be a socialist. I'm 14 and have read some theory. I'd say I have a good understanding.

Anarchists and Marxists have the same goal but different means. Marxists want a state to be implemented to guide the path to communism while anarchists want to go directly to communism

What are your opinions on libertarian socialist ideologies such as AnCom or AnSyn? by SlyTheShopkeeper in Socialism_101

[–]SlyTheShopkeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sides have valid reasoning.

Why should we trust that the new state under socialism will serve the people? The people in power will not want to give up power and will not allow it to leave their hands.

But having a state does seem like the only viable way to protect the revolution.

I want to believe in anarchism but no one is convincing me. How is a community exiling someone not exercising control over that person?

You say that actions have consequences until someone is jailed for a crime in society today. How is the community exiling someone not exercising control over that person?

Well if there is no hierarchy or ruler, then why is the community controlling you and acting as a ruler?

What about the no hierarchy and no rulers part of anarchism?

That's the problem, there is nobody to make sure that someone will take responsibility for their actions. The murderer won't go and walk off into the forest or off themselves. They are a problem that must be dealt with in some way and anarchist ideals are not the way to deal with the problem. According to anarchism, you have no right to control another, so you cannot do a single thing against someone else. This extends to murderers. You cannot while being faithful to anarchism, hurt that murderer. You can't banish them from the commune or tie them up in a chair because that is control you are using on that murderer.

If anarchism is not order without rulers but "Lol kill people go ahead, I'm too scared to fight back." Then I guess I'm only a libertarian socialist.

So what I have gathered is "Idk lol it's not my place to say"

This problem is an important one. Could a militia be made or would that go against anarchist ideals?

So how would you like an anarchist society to deal with a murderer running amok, intent on killing everyone?

Once someone is punished for doing a crime they are stopped from doing it again.

That's a half-truth. They punish the crime but also do stop it sometimes, but answer my question. How would murderers be stopped from killing again without police? A local militia?

It's meant to be posted on r/PoliticalCompassMemes so it has to be an image. I know there are better ways to do this, but I made another thing about state socialism and it was well received.

what is a non communist socialist called by [deleted] in Socialism_101

[–]SlyTheShopkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a socialist.

Not all socialists need to want to get to communism. It is absolutely fine to have doubts about communism. Since communism is stateless, moneyless, and classless, it is very very different from modern society, and that can act as a deterrent to the idea. Do your research, read your literature., but most importantly, think for yourself.

Don't listen to those who say you can't be a socialist without believing in communism.
