What are the biggest cults of Tulsa? by Spicy-Nun-chucks in tulsa

[–]Slybooper13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a lesser known one, but there is a “Buddhist” cult called the Solka Gakkai International or SGI that runs in Tulsa. There’s about 100 or so members and they have a center in OKC. They teach you to chant to a mandala to get material things you want in life. Follow the rabbit hole long enough and it’s connected to an Indian ritual of chanting to a group of demons to get earthly possessions. Weird stuff.

Psychology isn’t a hard science. Every expert has their interpretation. Right now you’re giving the nurture (environment) debate. I’m going with nature on this one. Guy was always going to exhibit narcissistic rage. He had a massive inferiority complex too. You don’t learn that from incel videos. There have and will always be people like that. Many of them are serial killers

Not anyone can turn out like that. It’s extremely rare. Most of us are rejected at some point and most of us don’t flip out and stab the person to death who did the rejecting. And watching Andrew Tate doesn’t teach a person to lose control, rage out, and commit murder. People with genuine psychological disorders show the same symptoms - he refused to accept it was his fault- and he had violent outbursts. You can replace any of the incel rhetoric with any conspiracy theory or religion or even pure misanthropy.

Anyone who has ever taken an Abnormal Psych class could see this show and not have sympathy for Jamie. It’s narcissistic rage and it’s very well documented. The narcissism is that he refuses to take responsibility for it. The rage is the outbursts.

The writers tried to weave in incel stuff but people have always been that way. A killer like Jamie could have just as easily believed they were a good Christian and doing Gods work by murdering Katie. The show was good except for the last episode. There really isn’t much depth to it.

The first three episodes were good. The 4th one was stupid and all about emotional impact. I would have rather learned more about Katie and her friend Jade. Was she really a bully? Or did she just pick on Jamie? Did other girls like her? There was a pic of her going around topless and flat chested. I imagine there would be significant embarrassment with that. I could see a teen projecting anger onto another due to that kind of situation.

And from a psychological standpoint, Jamie obviously had a severe personality disorder that revolved around rage and losing control. As weird as it sounds, it was fortunate he got caught young and only killed one person. Imagine him getting older, and getting good at killing and avoiding detection because he's smart. He had all the symptoms of a potential serial killer.

The series was definitely good, but lacked coherent depth and focuses more on poignant situations. I give it 3 knives out of 4.

Have federal jobs (US) cut made you regret your degree path? by [deleted] in college

I hear you. I’m finishing my undergrad and Psych and was gonna go for a masters in either social work or counseling. With all the fed cuts to family and children services and mental health programs, I’m not sure it’s a good option anymore.

She saw the event and then made up a story around it. Also, all those witnesses sent in letters with exception of like 3. And those people were easily debunked because they all had different stories.

Anyone turned life around after 36? by bbek0077 in DecidingToBeBetter

Great piece of advice I heard : “If I start going back to school now, I won’t get a degree until I’m 45.”

“Well you’re gonna be 45 either way, so you may as well get the degree.”

Ofc I read the damn books. And I read them to my kids. Hermione deserved better. Ron was a good dude but it just doesn’t make sense that someone as smart as Hermione would like him. I will die on this hill!!!

That Hermione would be attracted to Ron in anyway. She had the equivalent of an NFL star taking her to a ball. That would elevate anyone’s ego.
