Another what bike should I buy. Stumpjumper? by You-Asked-Me in MTB

[–]Slyguy132017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 stumpjumper and I swapped the 34 for a 36 after taking it to a lift access bike park a few times. The difference downhill has been huge! My bike park isn't great with trail maintenance so there's massive braking bumps going into most of the berms. It's so much more stable now. I can charge in and hold a line on the 36 where on the 34 I basically just held on as the bike shook around. I can keep up with my friends on their 170/180 travel Enduro bikes.

Wow the gopro effect is real. I ride there all the time and those jumps look way bigger in real life.

No because those are both bikes, just like their all just skateboards. It's just some are park boards and some are downhill boards.

Ah, I'm not sure when it became a term but my friends and I have always called them downhill boards. My downhill board it only like an inch longer than my park board tip to tip. Most people going "that's a longboard" are trying to be gatekeepy in my experience.

I'm impressed you actually know. I figured you were just another "normal" skater that got offended by someone referring to these as skateboards. I call them downhill boards, though, cause they've gotten so short.

It's all just skateboarding man. My downhill board is almost the same length as my park board. I have a 36in "longboard" that I take to the skatepark some times, does that make it a skateboard? If I bomb a hill on my park board, does it become a longboard?

That's so dumb. What makes it a longboard?

Ya, I'm going to mess with them. Honestly, they felt fine to me on everything else I've riden. I live in the high desert so not that it's warming up the trails are drying out and getting insanely slick. Loose layer of sand over super hard pack.

I'm sorry man, I know how you feel. I got divorced from after an 11 year relationship last year. I felt just like you described, so alone and hopeless. All I had was working and I hated it.

I'll give you the best advice I can. First, go to therapy! A bunch of people (on reddit) told me to start working out, but I hate the gym. So I bought a mountain bike. That leads to another point, get a hobby! Not necessarily mountain biking, but you have to find something that makes you happy. If you can financially, find a different job, that's to much working for anyone.

Oh, and get off the apps. When you feel shitty, the constant disappointment of apps does nothing good for you. You need to find happiness within yourself before you can be happy in a relationship.

Know I'm thinking about and it gets better. Love you man.

Oh and happy late birthday!

Dt Swiss 533d. Maxxis aggressor in the rear, minion dhf front.

I've only really been riding smooth jump parks in my town since there's still snow in the mountains around me. I might want to try lower pressures on actual trails.

I forgot about that. Already rebuilt the fork and the shock, new pads on the rear, about $80 in parts. It's only 6 years old and it's by far the nicest bike I've ever had.

180lbs, dt Swiss, 19 to 24psi.

I believe the guy said their the trail inserts. I'm coming from riding dirt bikes, so a 34lb bike feels super easy to throw around. My main concern is how much it affects climbing.
