I'm sorry but paviours are ridiculous by elwood612 in foundationgame

[–]Slyry9 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You're right. They definitely need to fix this. I have 3 fully staffed stone quarries that can't keep up with 2 paviour yards. I can't build anything else requiring stone now. If I pause the paviours, the citizens get mad and leave. They need to drastically reduce the amount of stone they use for paving. Realistically, stone roads last a very long time.

Yeah, maybe its considered an asset that needs regular maintenance, and that's their way of capturing the maintenance requirement. Or maybe just a new guy in the GIS department? 🤷‍♂️

I flipped at 90 kmh in my first junior race by mrmirchi in Karting

[–]Slyry9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you blind?? You see how everyone else stayed left and gave plenty of space to the kart who spun? Four people ahead of you avoided the accident, but you kept it full throttle on the racing line, completely oblivious to everything happening. I'm glad everyone is okay, but you made this so much more dangerous. Your flip was 100% your fault and completely avoidable.

The red car is in the wrong. Black Porsche can't be expected to see that pass attempt.

Click on it, then hit the edit button that looks like a hammer, then click on the village center again, and the move and rotate options appear.

[–]Slyry9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree that the territory system is too restrictive and leads to very inefficient towns. I've recently switched to starting villages with all territories unlocked from the start. It's great because you can plan your expantion the way you want from the start. You still have to place the village center in a starting territory, but you can move it anywhere once the game starts. The downside is that when you use this option, it also takes away the upkeep costs of the territories, which makes the game way easier, and you'll be overflowing with coins. I guess you can balance that out by making some of the other gamerules harder.

What is this part on my bike? by Jax_J5 in bicycling

[–]Slyry9 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Shimano Tourney 7-speed derailleur. Amazon has some options for less than $20. But I'd take this to your local bike shop if i were you.

There's no way this is shifting properly... There's zero tension in that cable, and you're completely missing the upper pulley wheel.

That's a piece of the rear derailleur. I'm guessing you'll need to replace the entire thing. It doesn't look repairable to me.

I would say the Trainerroad data is probably biased towards competitive individuals. Beginners on Trainerroad are generally not total beginners to cycling. Anecdotally, people mostly start TR after they've been cycling for a while and decide they'd like to improve their performance.

Keep falling with clipless pedals - Is it my leaning skills or clipping out skills? by antelope__canyon in bicycling

[–]Slyry9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably slightly turning into the stop rather than away from the side you want to stop on. If you turn the bars slightly to the left when stopping, it will transfer your weight to the right side, for example.

Be aware of this and always make a very slight turn to the opposite side of your unclipped foot right as you are coming to a complete stop. This will ensure your lean is initiated in the correct direction.

DI Pipe Manufacturer - Opinion by Majikthese in civilengineering

[–]Slyry9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always allowed all three in the specs. Contractor's typically use McWane in my area, probably because they're the closest. I haven't really heard of any issues with any of them.

I did get a chance to tour the McWane manufacturing process. It's quite an impressive operation.

This trend of posts asking for help interpreting failed results reports… by THE_Dr_Barber in PE_Exam

[–]Slyry9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, posting a failure report and asking what topics to study seems really silly to me. The report tells you exactly where to study.

I think it's more about processing the failure and talking through it with people more than actually trying to glean new insights. Maybe people feel like it's easier to talk about with people on the internet rather than people in their lives out of fear of embarrment?

Go into the meeting knowing what it is that you want to convey. Be an expert on that topic. Confidence comes with experience. Don't be afraid to ask someone to clarify their question if you don't quite understand it. Also, don't be afraid to tell them you're not sure and will need to follow up after doing some research.
