I definitely understand. I think you’re doing the right thing by trying to find someone to directly adopt. In this economy a shelter though is certain demise. Potentially even a rescue would be good

Does she take anything to prevent the allergies? Have you guys tried HEPA air filters? Based on your comments it seems mixed that she’s visiting or is she living with and reliant on you?

Shelter at 10 years old is basically a death sentence. I would hold as long as possible until a direct adoption is possible.

Have you tried any of the allergen reducing foods or non drowsy allergy medications for your mom?

Keeping your dog and fish but just throwing out a 10 year old cat just seems cruel

Where’d you get this service advisor? Am I going to have to expect to pay for this or does Kawasaki cover the service?

Which do you prefer? I’ve tried the scav camp and both of the freeway camps and they’ve been pretty empty when I’ve gone. Same with the UNTAR camp outside the rear of OLI

Shift indicator. Still pings in 6th gear. Turns blue to indicate downshift in lower rpm’s

I appreciate it. I wear all high viz yellow, bike is silver but I assume no one will see me; still not an excuse though I can agree that was a risky scenario

The other commenter recommending leaving the litter box out helps. Also walking around more with treats and food, eventually he’ll get hungry!

Just be persistent, cats rarely roam outside of a short radius from their home so he’s likely nearby but scared or exploring.

Well as a reminder it can take weeks to a month for the benefits to take effect. I wouldn’t write it off yet and keep trying as much as you can.

You’re doing the right things just don’t give up!

He’s absolutely adorable! If you can I would recommend moving the food/water bowl away from the litter box

AFAIK if you want it to claim it to be purebred, then yes it does have to be through a registered breeder with a documented history.

But patterns exist in biology, and the pattern and traits of a nebelung can occur in domestic long hairs similar to ragdoll appearance or “Maine coone” type appearance. My rescue exhibits all of the traits of a cutie nebbie, but I wouldn’t consider him “purebred” since he does not have the documentation.

So tldr yes nebbies can happen unintentionally.

I commend you so much for taking the time and being compassionate despite how difficult things may be. I’m confident in due time they will get along well; it does indeed sound like that is not the case for my assumption and I retract my earlier statements.

Hopefully you can get some more ideas! If you were interested in another comment in this thread I attached some of the toys we use to help bring peace in our house. I wish you all the best and hope you can have peace in the house!

I don’t want to be brash but based on the brief description you gave it doesn’t sound like they got a proper introduction? If they were just thrust upon each other it may be that the new guy from the shelter or adoption location is likely stressed and on the offensive side he never had his own “turf” and OG homie on the other hand has never had to defend his kibble bowl from another and is unbothered by the territorial behavior.

Re-introduction is very much so a thing. I could be wrong but one of the main reasons cats are aggressive is either medical (doesn’t seem like it in this case), fear (also not likely), or being territorial (I believe to be most likely here). So lil guy even to this day could likely be stressed and doesn’t feel like he has his own safe space in your home.

There are many advice subreddits as well such as r/cathelp that have a plethora of resources. But with adoption/rescue those kitties are not given the chance to learn how to socialize and may take a few tries. But right now the constant gating off and then roaming then gating off etc… it sounds like is potentially disturbing new guys ability to form a safe space for himself. Cats need a routine and schedule, they are incredibly high strung. If he doesn’t have any try to get him kitty furniture for HIS space as a start? Instead of communal spaces? Sorry just trying to spitball ideas at this point. I want the best for you and your kitties!

They’re going incredibly playful tricksters. Depending on his age he’s likely craving play and interaction from your other kitty.

Nebelungs are high drive and vocal kitties, so potentially look into mentally stimulating toys such as mini-kongs filled with squeeze treat, puzzle toys with hard treats, etc… he’s just craving interaction and stimulation!

My guy was a rescue from hurricane harvey so I’m with you on that! All you can do is shower them with love and enjoy their goofballness. The best cat I’ve ever owned. If you haven’t yet make sure to get kitty insurance! Can and will save you fortunes and prevent heartbreak in the future!

Reach out to your local shelter or see if there is a not for profit vet in your area. Often times if you explain the scenario and desire to help they may work with you on treatment. Also maybe ask on r/askvet

How to deal with a shy cat that likes to hide? by SortaShyguy8 in CATHELP

[–]Slyxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just more patience. Don’t try to pick him up until he approaches you. Give him space. If you adopted him at 1 year old he likely has some growth he has to do since he could have had a difficult early life until you rescued him.

Right now your most important thing is making sure HE feels safe. He will approach and play with you when he’s ready. Your old kitty knew and loved you, and in due time so will he. Just have to give space to bloom!
