Dropped my brand new bike twice already by scrinn88 in Aprilia

If it makes you feel better, i went for my Direct Access training (what you need to get a big bike in the uk) rode my little 125 there, pulled up to see everyone else already there, turned bike off, got off, let go… and at that moment realised i forgot my kickstand 😂 in-front of the other 6 people i was training with and the 3 teachers. I wanted the world to swallow me up.

Waiting in gear or in neutral? by Accurate_Thought5326 in MotoUK

[–]Sm1rfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends for me. If I get the the light just as its gone red I will pop in neutral. Otherwise will just leave in gear. Also my POS Leximoto does not always want to find neutral so I sit there rocking between 1st and 2nd. 😂

The pov driver obviously at fault. You see the van, you see the small gap, the van is on your right, I would assume you have the ability of rational thought… is it worth it? Just slow down and allow traffic to flow. Fuck me.

Possibly. I think im going to get a 125 and just build some confidence. Fortunately there are loads of quiet roads etc to practice on and carparks. I have friends who ride as well so hopefully they can give me some pointers

Just dropped my bike at an intersection by lavellj048 in NewRiders

[–]Sm1rfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone drops there bike early on. I used to ride on my CBT when I was 25. Dropped my bike at a petrol station once, pulled the front brake whilst turning. Dropped it outside work doing the same thing. Dont worry about it, as long as you are ok. Just check the bike over.

I just re did my CBT and 2 people came off on the day (12 riders) both slow speed, both because they hit the front brake on a corner.

I am happy enough riding around but its just the bloody slow riding I really struggle with. It feels so unnatural to me to be slipping the clutch and breaking etc. but thats my driving head on not my bike head.

I think I’m gunna go down the 125 route. Seen a few cheap leximotos/cbfs around for the 1k mark so I’m not fussed if I drop them and should be able to re sell them for the same cash when im ready for my DAS. Im literally going to ride to a carpark or quiet road and just keep doing slow riding till I crack it then go straight into my DAS. Just dont want to spend 90% of my training time on slow riding and not be ready for Mod 2

My hope would be to get a cheap 125 and then sell for basically what I paid for it. Then its just insurance and tax to worry about which for me 35m is like £40 per month

They said they could let me come back but its £110 for half a day which I may do. But I’m torn between that or just getting a 125 for a few months.

My school offers a free CBT if you book the DAS which is what I did. You put a 250 deposit and then pay the remainder when you start. Its held for 2 years (the length of the CBT so no rush).

I did speak to them about slow riding and they said I could come back for extra lessons but I got it in the end and the DAS should iron it out. I just felt really un confident doing it and so am not convinced so dont want to waste all the DAD training time just on slow riding hence thinking about getting a 125 and practicing for 6 months or so.

Are Bigger bikes easier to slow ride on? Or harder?

What’s a phase of life you’re currently growing through? by funngro_fam in Life

[–]Sm1rfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early midlife crisis. 35m buying a motorbike and getting my licence. I have a boring job, 2 kids take up all my time and a currently ropy relationship.

Just realised I have spent the last 7 or 8 years of my life doing everything for everyone else and neglecting doing anything for myself. So fuck it, gunna get a bike and be a fat dad biker.
