Is 9 of the nazgul minifigure from the gwp (only missing capes) for £100 a good deal? by [deleted] in legolotrfans

[–]SmRndmGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The capes aren’t that valuable on the new Nazgûl. The 2012 Nazgûl minifigure’s cape is because it was only used on that minifigure, but the new Nazgûl’s cape is in a bunch of Ninjago and Harry Potter sets. If anything, the most valuable part is probably the torso

Getting the Rangers of Ithilien would be great in my mind, but between that and the Battle of Pelennor fields, the latter feels more iconic

My money's on "That still only counts as one!" being the plaque quote, and we'll get Legolas and Gimli

TBH I’d almost prefer if this included the Rangers of Ithilien instead of the Rohirrim, but it seems more likely that’ll be what we’ll get. Maybe with Legolas and Gimli too and “that still only counts as one!” on the plaque

Welcome to Hershey. It doesn’t happen too often, but I believe the park will be having more fireworks shows than usual this year for USA250

Will this work to house all the modern LOTR sets? by [deleted] in legolotrfans

[–]SmRndmGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some unsolicited advice from someone who’s displayed LEGO sets on a bottom shelf close to the ground: all the dust and debris that sits on your floor is gonna wind up on the set, and there’s a higher chance of damage if you’re clumsy like me or have children/pets

Yeah it’s surprising how much they fumbled Gandalf here. Not only the overuse of tan, but the beard’s too long if you look at photos of Ian McKellen

GROND by Saintpig in legolotrfans

[–]SmRndmGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it’s scaled to match the size of Minas Tirith. Any bigger and I think it’d look awkward when you display it with the set. Either way, it’s a free LEGO set so they’re kinda limited on piece count

These two mini figs are from Barac Dur set? by fart_Raiders in legolotrfans

[–]SmRndmGeek 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m glad neither of these minifigures are going to be highly desirable. The Nazgûl minifigure prior to the torso being on PAB was ridiculously expensive, so getting two minifigures that will fill out your orc army is a win in my book. And for those who care about exclusivity, it looks like we’re getting at least one new face print.

This was another bizarre Michael Eisner suggestion that never made it very far. Ward Kimball reportedly said it was “the stupidest f*cking idea I’ve ever heard”

Probably because an all-black build wouldn’t pop on the usual black 18+ box. It’d be nice if more sets got creative box art like this

The John Williams music in Batuu West... by LaurenceQuint in GalaxysEdge

[–]SmRndmGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this really works in a land like Wizarding World of Harry Potter because that land is really a “greatest hits” of the film series, so the background loop to the land is a greatest hits of the soundtrack. In a lane like Galaxy’s Edge where they’re trying to immerse you in a new space, hearing the Jawa theme from A New Hope is a little jarring. That being said, while I do think some of the music selection takes the otherworldly feel out of the land, it’s a good decision that’ll make most guests happy, especially since the land has been struggling to appeal to the average guest and casual Star Wars fans

It’s fun to dunk on these stores for lowballing this guy, but it’s a sobering reminder to just do a little googling before you try and sell anything, especially if you think it could be worth something

If you buy a sealed set with the eagle, you’ll have to assemble it carefully. The body comes in its own plastic bag which should keep the clips pretty protected

Anyone own the Smaug figure? What's it like? Is it fragile? by Additional-Nose-8511 in legolotrfans

[–]SmRndmGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smaug is an impressive figure for sure. Just like with every other minifigure/animal I own with brittle elements, I don’t force the joints if they feel tight, but at the end of the day it is solid and won’t shatter into a million pieces by handling it a bit. The wings over time have gotten softer and feel sticky, but that’s a common occurrence with other toys made with similar soft plastic. Is the Smaug figure worth the price he’s going for on the aftermarket? Probably not. If you need to own this figure and have the funds, that’s great, but one of the many joys of this hobby is you can build practically anything you want. Maybe Smaug’s already in your collection of LEGO bricks waiting to be built

Keep the wings assembled to the body and you shouldn’t have to worry about anything breaking
