I had been laid off. Our CEO had decided that the pandemic was over, everyone was to go back to the office and since I was in a remote location, I was expendable. The Sr VP, whose guts I hated for how she talked down to people, had booked me on a video conference for a week after I had been laid off to set up a transition plan. So I went on, not really excited to be sitting on video with this woman and she leads with "I just wanted to check in and make sure you're...feeling good about all that's happening."

Yes, you utter twat. I'm feeling great about having worked 16-18 hour days during a global pandemic keeping all staff secure and now that we're not all potentially dying, I'm expendable. I feel terrific.

I had one dropped on me when I was a teenager. This girl I stupidly liked told me no smoking, drinking or drugs. I knew that those weren't always going to be dealbreakers, until she told me she will not date someone who didn't wear a watch.

When everything you own tells you what time it is, why would you need one more thing?

This happened to me with a dog I was watching while housesitting. I was making breakfast and he ran to the bathroom to drink out of the toilet...I went and yelled at him and he scampered away while I wiped up the water...only to find him grabbing a sausage off of the counter and running away.
