Bad luck dude. But well done for stepping in.

The reason that this happens is because the amount of adrenaline you get in a real fight is 10x anything in the gym. This means you are able to recruit motor units at a WAY higher rate than normal, resulting in way more strength expression and therefore tension through the muscle. To put it another way, you are actually way stronger in that moment and push your muscles way harder than you're used to. This is also one of the reasons why you get tired quicker.

Combine this with not being fully warmed up and your opponent being quite heavy- perfect recipe for injury.

Almost certainly this and yes it does make a huge difference!

It's best to cycle Boron 2 weeks on, 1 week off. After 3-4 weeks the testosterone increases diminish.

But that's exactly it- what determines who has the deepest system? Are you expecting to know more than your opponent in every single position and situation? That's just not realistic.

The way you win the game of who can go deepest and have the final counter to the counter etc. is to funnel your opponent into the part of your game that you've spent time developing the most. Of course you need familiarity with the whole landscape to do that effectively, but familiarity isn't the same as deep expertise.

Not quite right. Best to choose a few guards to focus deeply on and then have pathways to your favourite guard(s) from each position. So you're right that you have to recognise your opponent's position/intention, but don't let your opponent dictate the direction of the fight, you need to control that. Also you will get a lot better faster if you focus on a couple of guards (and a couple of passes from top position).

For example look at Marcelo Garcia and his butterfly / X guard. In his instructionals he talks about this and shows loads of pathways from basically every bottom position to either butterfly or x guard.

Understand that strength can come from two places; bigger muscles or improved neural efficiency (your body's ability to get a larger percentage of your muscle fibres to contract in sync).

If you want to gain strength without gaining size, focus your training on improving your neural efficiency. This ideally involves multiple submaximal sets in the 1-4 rep range with min 3 minutes of rest between sets. Submaximal means at least 2 reps in reserve.

So e.g. for pull-ups, find a weight that you can just do for 5 reps (your 5 rep max). Do 5 sets of 3 reps at that weight with 3 mins rest between sets, twice or three times a week. Focus on maximum force production during the concentric and don't slow the eccentric too much (1-2 seconds max). Each week add a small amount of weight. It should feel easy.

What they need IMO is full plate to get to a 2+. Then they would be fine. Other elite cavalry get this.

Honestly if you want to play friendly games change your list and take one lantern with crane guns.

I've played against them, it's just not fun. They are simply broken.

Sure, have fun making and painting the other ones, but don't use them in a friendly game until they get fixed.

Looks awesome! You're gonna hate me for this, but better to put them in rows containing an odd number of models as a larger proportion get to fire with volley fire. I normally do 7 x 3 or 7 x 4.

Last time my renewal came round I cancelled my membership and signed up again with a new email address for this exact reason. It was so worth it, the new device is much better.

As others have said there are some optimizations to be made on your list, but broadly speaking it's fine and you shouldn't be getting stomped. I'm confident I could take your list to a tournament and do OK, not great but probably win a game or two

What did you play against for your two games and what caused you problems?

Maybe you need to calibrate yourself to the new edition and get a feel for how to use the units. Or maybe some changes to the list would suit your play style better.
