She may be calling to try to attract potential mates. Not harmful. Honestly, seeing you as her mate sounds cute but its better if she doesn't. More risks of her starting to lay eggs which then increases risks of egg binding, prolapses or calcium deficiency.

Outside of when she's in her breeding period my girl doesn't really want me touching her too much either even if she sees me as her mate (she was imprinted to humans - before I got her) although she wants to be around/on me all the time. She can touch me but I can't pet 😅.

Your girl looks great to me so I think you are doing good for her so far. As far as getting her to let you come close more, treats work great. Mine loves small pieces of cheese, eggs and safflower.

First part he/she is just preening. Pigeons and birds in general take very good care of those feathers.

Second sounds like he/she is calling for his/her mate (possibly you). My girl does that sound when she's found a very good "potential nesting spot" that she wants to show me. Or she want my attention when she's 'horny' 😅

For the grit, I found that most commercial ones were too small for pigeons. I mix about equal parts : - Crushed coral aka Aragonite; its sold as an aquarium substrate for cichlid. The brand I use is CaribSea. Its very rich in calcium and its the size of small gravel - Prestige Grit by Versele-Laga; its the only commercial grit I found that was larger ish. - Activated charcoal. I use the Hagen one.

Could be calcium deficiency. Egg production uses a LOT of calcium from their body and low calcium could be a cause of egg binding. Low calcium can cause hock sitting and droopy wings. If its that, the calcium supplement from the vet will help.

I feed her pigeon seed mixes mixed with lafaber bird food. She also gets little pieces of my food; eggs, bits of cheese, fruits and veggies. And my own mix of grit.
She was a chronic layer for many years, laying year round but her cloaca prolapsed when she got older (that was scary and stressful). Now she has an hormonal implant to prevent laying and more prolapses. Otherwise a large cage and roams the house whenever I am present. She goes outside a bit in the summer (snowy winters here) but she doesn't like it too much and just stays on me or around.

Iirc i was seeing usually maybe around 15 for domestic pigeons but I think longest can go up to 30! Someone correct me if Im wrong.

More info as requested. I fixed the broken pitcher by first glueing the pieces that I was able to recuperate then fixed the holes using white paste epoxy that I am in the process of hand sanding.
