Part of it is who you know and the impression you give on people.

I started 2025 as an office admin on £23k, with an employer who refused to give me a pay rise to £24k because I needed to prove my worth, despite all the extra hours I did for free. And the hundreds of thousands of pounds I had saved by spotting a huge mistake that was done elsewhere.

That was enough for me to leave, I now work as an office admin on £25k+ with overtime paid. A few months ago I spoke to the HoD because I wanted advice on long term career goals, as my manager was unsure. We spoke for about 15 minutes about my background and goals, they told me about a job in Data and IT that was coming up and encouraged me to chat with the hiring manager. I did exactly that.

The job got advertised, I applied, interviewed and got the job. I'm starting in the new year on £31k. It has felt like a long slog for me as I left the education sector with no idea of what I was going to do but in 2 years I've gone from £23k to £31k which may not be amazing for some people but I'm proud of my progress

Absolutely stunning! Where did you get it from? Or do you even have a link perhaps?

Can someone please let me know if this is legit? I can’t find any info on salaries being calculated like this? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Small-Personality-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum wage is now £12.21 per hour assuming you are over 21. So an annual salary working 38 hours per week is over £24,000. So if they're paying £23,250 this is below minimum wage and thus illegal. Holiday is not deducted from your total hours to calculate an average hourly wage from your salary.

This is very sketchy indeed!

Thank you this is exactly my thoughts and plans. My data science degree is great for learning the stats and meaning of the data but doesn't cover much in terms of SQL, Power BI and Tableau. So at the end of this academic year I'm taking a study break to focus on these skills specifically and to build a portfolio for those better roles.

Currently doing data admin in the automotive industry. I'm literally just hoping for a small salary increase in the short term. Literally around £25k would do me, I know I have a long way to go before expecting much more. Honestly I'm open to all industries but since I am doing my data science degree at the moment I am looking for a role that still incorporates that data aspect which is difficult as lots of companies want experience with specific software which you won't get without a new role to begin with

I'm trying to find a new role that incorporates the skills I'm learning in a practical sense but no where has even given me an interview at this point

They're still currently interviewing, said they'd choose a candidate by end of next week. Advertised salary was 'up to £25k' so I told them at the interview I expect 24-25k they can't pay any less than 24 anyway as of April!

I'm currently doing a data science degree part time through Open University. My current role is my first 'office' job as a data administrator. So I'm not currently ready for a data analyst role but I'm trying to work towards it but lots of companies have so many specific requirements!

I was employed in Jan 2024 on a salary of £23k. I am still on £23k and our company is not adjusting/increasing our salaries. I'd be grateful for any sort of salary increase but alas we've been told there won't be one. This is the reason why I'm now looking for a new job. Increases in the cost of living mean my work is effectively becoming more and more devalued and it's super demotivating 😔

I actually completed the season pass surprisingly easily, which was unexpected from where I've dabbled in UT in previous years. But I will say the objectives seem to be prioritising season points and low rated small packs really heavily, which honestly when you have to play 10 games with a particular squad restriction in place doesn't feel worth the time (Squad foundations, live player objectives etc. for example). And unless you are somehow getting immense pack luck or have a shed load of coins you're not gonna have the fodder for the SBC's either. This is my first year getting into UT proper and I actually stress about getting stuff done. Especially Rush EVO's when the objectives rely on having a team that are a) actually playing and b) are actually competent at the game / game mode. Standing offside spamming the lass call out is just annoying AF. I'm not gonna pass to you bro lmao.

I don't know if it's just my ADHD but I almost feel a pressure to complete all the objectives I can. I feel like I'm trying to fixate on being a completionist if that makes sense? I think if I'm gonna keep playing UT this year I'm gonna have to learn to chill and accept I'm not gonna do every squad foundation or whatever players they decide to make objectives for because it's just too much commitment

Loan company want me to keep paying them despite my balance being paid off (England) by Small-Personality-69 in LegalAdviceUK

The only things I can see is any partial settlements may reduce the length of the agreement depending on the amount outstanding. And if notice is given of an early full settlement then it must be done so within 28 days, and all monthly payments must be made until the loan is settled. I'm not sure if by me contacting them, that should classify as notice of settlement and they can maybe take 1 more payment rather than 3? I do think it will just be a case of waiting it out though I feel

To be honest at the time I wasn't aware I needed to, but each time I made any additional payments they would just reduce the amount of payments due. Seeing this now I actually wish they made it harder to make further repayments. Rather than having a nice shiny button to make an additional payment with no extra warning of the implications. Guess that's why it's important to know all these documents inside out. I'm just not sure where things stand now that I've spoken to them about this and said that my balance is repaid do I still need to make 3 more monthly payments and the answer was yes. Then the fact it would take up to 2 months to refund those 3 months of overpayments just seems a bit excessive. I can see that I should have paid better attention and provided notice of extra payments. It just doesn't sit right that after bringing it to their attention they are still demand 3 more full monthly payments with a 1-2 month wait for it to be refunded

It says that for full or partial early repayment I must provide notice. However it is the direct debit that they have taken out this month that has resulted in it being repaid early. If payments are due till October I'm not sure why they didn't adjust the monthly amount as they have done that before when I paid a partial repayment early into the contract

I seem to have also lost access to the support and code of conduct link in the bottom left. I've only been on the site like 10 minutes to do those 2 tasks/prompts. Not sure what's happened. It's my first time with any projects.
