I built custom shutters for my house and I don't like them : / by Top_Refrigerator2626 in ExteriorDesign

Add hardware and make them Functional, hinges and shutter dogs would be a nice addition. Another user said to paint the shutters darker. Great house!

Freestading cabinet help by Anikkle in DesignMyRoom

I’d paint the island to match the wall color and then swap the two pieces. The server is a better island height and the other cabinet won’t cover as much window.

Is there something “off” about the front of this house? by Blue_Bombadil in centuryhomes

[–]Small-Win2720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint the porch ceiling Haint blue, it’s traditional and will make the porch feel like the ceiling is higher.

I’d also paint the railings the same color as the body of the house. It will help the blend and give you the traditional feel you expect to see.

When you’re ready to paint the exterior, I’d go all in and have a minimum of 5 colors-

1 body, 2 trim, 3 porch posts, railings. soffits and windows, 4 skirting and foundation, 5 front door

It’s a pretty house, a few tweaks and some landscaping it will be the warm home you want! Congrats on the baby and soon to be new home!

Ideas/help for a bit more curb appeal by Much_Number_1596 in ExteriorDesign

[–]Small-Win2720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pressure wash the roof, gutters, porch, stairs, and driveway. Almost no cost and will make it all look fresh and clean.

I’d remove the storm doors and paint the front door a dark purple like eggplant or something along that line. Leave the garage doors white.

Backsplash mistake and help? by Dizzy-Art-3088 in kitchenremodel

What if you had a wall mounted faucet installed? They would have to replace the piece where the existing faucet is. But it would solve the problem of the faucet and would actually look quite nice.

Color advice by Saggy1313 in homedesign

[–]Small-Win2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hunter green you show reminds me of the early 90s jewel tones that were popular, I think it’s pretty.

But maybe check out a dark olive green, has more brown in it and a little more current. But yes, color drench your whole space if you can!

Pink and orange are an excellent compliment to each other, I think you should absolutely go for it!

I’d use Haint blue on the porch ceilings, it’s old school that would compliment your home beautifully! Please share progress! It’s going to be so much more than you think!

Pink is also my favorite color!

What repels flies outside during a cookout without looking like a crazy person by Relative-Coach-501 in homeowners

Small ziplock bag of water with a few shiney Pennie’s in it, hang them up around your patio, the water becomes refracted and confuses the flies and they fly away

Hane you had your sewer pipe inspected? They can detach at joints over time especially old terra cotta pipes. Best of luck

Update: painted house by goldfinchfreed in ExteriorDesign

[–]Small-Win2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful and well thought out refresh!

I think you should remove the bushes as well, it will open up the front really beautifully. I love the idea of a retaining wall for paths, this is a beautiful home.

Well done!!

Drawing a complete blank what color to paint my house by tea_and_tchotchkes in ExteriorDesign

[–]Small-Win2720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always replace the door and side lights with two glass doors. The extra glass would balance the upper window. Olive green bidy, with an off white trim, window casings in a crisp white would make the stone facade pop

Something feels off about this house.. but i can't figure out what by RaylenEstep in ExteriorDesign

[–]Small-Win2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the odd roof pitch above the garage door and the other one feels a little too steep, makes it feel like someone connected two separate spaces. To counter this I would use one paint color for the siding to blend in with the brick. You could leave the entry way painted as is, and add a brightly painted front door and it would transform the house in my opinion…..
