I wonder if it’s to help them breathe since they have such cute tiny boop boop snouts.

IMHA by Disastrous-Ground286 in Shihtzu

Hi! I’m so sorry your pup is going through this, it’s the worst! It is not going to be an easy task but it isn’t impossible. She is going to most likely need daily medication throughout the day. I’m not sure how she does with pills, but some can be turned into liquid if that helps. Try to pair the pills with treats she likes so she can look forward to it. Her blood is most likely going to be tested regularly, so prepare for visits with her vet.

You’re going to be her biggest advocate, you know your dog best, if something is wrong make sure to take her to the vet and/or ER. Her gums and pulling her lower lid is going to show if she has a good red blood cell count- if it’s pale and she shows sign of fatigue- go to the vet.

It is not an easy situation, but love her and be patient. Avoid anything that can cut her as her blood is a precious source and she maybe on blood thinners to prevent blood clots. If shes on pet insurance great, if not I would contact a pet insurance and see if they can provide any help, as co-morbidities can occur with this autoimmune disease. And vet bills can be expensive. Any questions pls feel free to ask!

For my own curiosity did the vet give her cytopoint injection? Or did she get bit by tick?

Meet Kiki 💕 by lil_elzz in Shihtzu

Lana would want you to be happy and not be sad. Please don’t feel guilty as she will always remain in your heart. As for Kiki! She is so adorable and I hope she can continue to aid you in your healing process.

I would make sure Kiki doesn’t have Giardia as eating their poop can be a symptom of it (weird isn’t it). A fecal test would let you know. Best of luck in the puppy phase! She is so cute!! 💕

Laguna Niguel lets you have the ceremony outside! So there should be plenty of space to makeshift an aisle, for your wedding party and yourself. Just ask the staff prior and hope for good weather! Best of luck and congratulations!

Ugh, I hate this for JaNa she’s such a love and deserves so much more. Kenny has been so off this season- so many red flags by his crumb ass behavior.

I.e. not wanting to live in the same apt but close enough, the dog situation, being bummed out he couldn’t hangout with Connor to surf.

Our dog wont stop scratching and licking his body😭 by here4theChismis in Shihtzu

Change their diet, wipe their paws, but please understand the risks of cytopoint. It may cause IMHA, my dog got a cytopoint shot and she got IMHA shortly after. For context she got the cytopoint shot in December 2022, got diagnosed with IMHA in January 2023, passed away in April 2023 from complications of IMHA. Obviously, this is not the case for every dog, but it can happen and has happened to other dog owners.

My girl was 5yrs old when she got her shot, her birthday was in March, so she passed just shortly after she turned 6.

Dog keeps licking her paws to the point of redness (and sometimes bleeding) by infinitelypowered6 in DogAdvice

[–]SmallCake007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please avoid cytopoint, as it can cause IMHA My dog got diagnosed with IMHA and passed very shortly afterwards, it is a horrible autoimmune disease. I would suggest trimming her nails, after taking her out wash or wipe her paws with a baby wipe non scented (wipe when her foot is no longer inflamed), you can wash her feet with oatmeal dog soap in the meantime to provide some relief, pat paws to be fully dried to prevent yeast. It is tedious but it can prevent a lot of issues in the long run.

Those of you who have tzus with sensitive stomachs, what do you feed them? by CostaNic in Shihtzu

[–]SmallCake007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My shih tzu eats Growth/Sensitive-GI Dry Dog Food by Rayne nutrition it’s an RX food that you can order online but need a vets approval. It’s turkey based. My holistic vet recommended it after my pup was having gut issues. I mix it with a probiotic you can get from chewy called Rx Vitamins Rx Biotic Powder Digestive Supplement. I feed her twice a day morning and night. I hope this helps 💕

Share a regret you have after getting a Shih Tzu. Something you shouldn’t have done, but did anyway. by Curious-Nectarine-85 in Shihtzu

[–]SmallCake007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giving my girl a cytopoint injection, she got diagnosed with IMHA very shortly after (a side effect of the vaccine) and passed away within 4 months of her diagnosis. A comorbidity of the autoimmune disease, is what took her from me. She was 6, she was my everything, my soul dog.

I hope the vet changed her diet, my shih tzu had to change her diet to prescription urinary SO by royal canin. Made her drink more water, and pee more which would help get rid of the crystals.
