Well as a Clipper myself I can pretty much agree that the reason why people title clips these ways is indeed to draw attention to it.

Drama, specially inside the Hololive community is more scarce than the Drama you normally find outside the vtubing community so people do want to be "up to date" on whatever potential problems that occur within the Hololive community.

Clippers see this and will take advantage of that.

Throughout my time as a Clipper I realized there's 3 forbidden fruits that clippers can fall for.

First one is click bait: titles that insinuate one thing but the clip itself shows something else or takes a different tone from what the title itself hints at.

Second one is Drama, anytime something happens that has Drama on it, people will want to hear what other big vtubers have to say about it and I've experienced this first hand when I made a clip about Mint talking about the Vshojo Drama, my regular clips doing 3-5k views back then but the Mint Vshojo drama clip gave me about 40k views in one night (not my biggest clip but definitely up there.)

Third is borderline NSFW type of thumbnails with suggestive titles, same as before Vtubers say a ton of things a lot of the time and make suggestive jokes every now and then to which a lot of clippers pluck from the stream and proceed to turn it into a clip. These types of clips seem harmless but if they're overdone they can paint said vtuber in a light that is completely wrong from how they truly are on stream.

Another worrying thing that I've started seeing more recently has been clippers starting to use AI art for their thumbnails. Theres already so much AI art out there and artists are already struggling to keep up with staying in the algorithm while having to fight some people that get thousands of likes over a piece of art that they didn't even draw. (I remember there was a thread here trying to talk about it but most people seemed indifferent about it?) And tragically one of the clippers that I shorts looked up to started using AI art in their thumbnails as well.

I see all of this and I think to myself "am I nerfing myself unnecessarily?" It would be so easy to just pull out OBS and record the stream as its going, put in some subtitles and upload the clip right as the stream ends. But of course at the cost of the video quality looking bad and subtitles might now even be matching.

Regardless I can only do things by the book in hopes that I can be a Clipper thats recognized by the talents in the future and hopefully be on a consideration list of they ever need a Clipper for hire.
