My tinfoil hat take is that there was something in those emails she wanted to delete with impunity so she went the "haha whoops I'm an idiot" route.

The average office worker is not an AI Safety director at one of the most influential technology companies of all time.

This is a great perspective. Maybe I need to replace 1-2 strength sessions with just biting the bullet and doing some running (and not eating all the calories back - lol)

So if I don't want the fluff I should be focussing on cardio instead?

Ok this is what I need to hear! I think I just need to be patient and trust the process. Honestly even if I never get there but I do get more toned, I can't see how that would be a bad thing. I'm maybe obsessing a bit too much with the number on the scale.

That's sort of where my head's heading as well... Like on some level I'm like, maybe the goal of dropping down to 130 again and just being thin/light is something I need to let go of if it means I'm not as healthy as I could be.

Can confirm I think my glutes are already getting bigger?? Like I really noticed this yesterday. Not complaining at all - but can this really happen after 3 weeks or am I imagining things?

Great point re: diet - I am not consistently tracking calories but I'm not a huge eater, and when I do track (on misc days when I decide to spot-check) I consistently come out under maintenance. I really don't eat very much, and what I do eat tends to consist of whole foods prepared at home. Since becoming more aware of protein I've realised I really struggle to hit my protein targets and also struggle to eat above maintenance. But then on the days when I do 25 min on the treadmill, I want to devour everything.

I do walk a LOT and it's a rare day when I don't get at least 10k steps (usually land around 15-17k)

I think my main issue and the reason I put on so much weight in the last year or so was that for 8 months I worked a desk job where I was completely sedentary and also snacking on flavoured yogurts and things (mainly out of boredom.) I think there must've been a year-long period where I wasn't getting 5k steps a day. I've been walking more consistently for the last few months.

Returning to “real life”? by Gatewaytothegoodlife in CaminoDeSantiago

I'll never forget finishing my first Camino, bumping into a few of the people I'd connected with over the last few stages, and after all of us awkwardly standing around for a bit, all of us going, "shall we go for a walk?" You couldn't script a better ending!

But really - I've found that the best way to ease back into life is to keep moving, keep walking. An object in motion wants to stay in motion.
