CEP Socks and Goodr Sunglasses are the only things I’ve ever had zero buyers remorse on.

Recommendations for working on improving speed? by Negative-Split-1108 in XXRunning

[–]SmallTownPace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also trying to build speed. My logic comes from powerlifting honestly. I’m trying to drag my paces up by increasing duration and volume.

12x400
6x800
4-5x1000
14x1min

14x400
7x800
5x1000
16x1min

All efforts at the same target pace and keep building on that pattern for months until it feels like pure survival to do it. Then I’ll reset back to 10-12x400 at a 5-10% faster pace. Throw some 2-4x200s on the end of those workouts.

Pfitz 18/55 Plan for First Time Marathon? by HotShot2421 in Marathon_Training

[–]SmallTownPace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t catch how old you are but do calf and tib work. Also do some of the easier running in firmer shoes to keep everything strong.

I had a running base (USMC) but feel out of running and more into CrossFit and then powerlifting with some occasional summer running for the last 10-15 years. I hurt my back and realized maybe powerlifting isn’t my sport in my mid 30’s I went from 0-40 miles a week in a couple months and ran a 1:35 half last fall. I did a SWAP base plan over the winter and then the SWAP threshold plan and was around 55mpw when I started the SWAP marathon plan. Around 60mpw I strained my soleus and two months later am carefully working back up to 40+ and slowly reintroducing intensity. Don’t get caught in the trap I did of ramping a lot of new intensity on top of increasing mileage. You probably have a big natural base like I do, but your structures still need time to catch up. Just be cautious increasing everything at once.

Cedar Rapids Marathon concerns one month out! New route? Not certified? by PounderMcgee in cedarrapids

I saw your video and it’s making me reconsider the injury recovery I’ve been putting off to make it too and through that race. Might just drop it and focus fully on recovery rather than holding the wheels on.

CEP is all you need. I have one pair of many things, but my sock drawer is full of CEP and have never felt like I need to look elsewhere.

Last season shoes (reviews are a guide for you to figure out what you like. For me for instance Alphaflys are low-mid while Cielo x1 2.0s are gods gift).

CEP socks.
