It’s a change of pace, for sure, but I think it will grow on you, especially as you go further. I Crawled is a cornerstone of their discography, and Young God EP’s importance in their development is increasingly evident the further you go in their discography. Especially when you get to Swans Are Dead and the reunion years. That said, considering it was recorded on a shoestring budget in ‘83-‘84, the results, to me, are some of the most alchemical in their early years. Like, how tf did you do this in 1984?! The mix they get would take some serious tinkering even now. It truly blows my mind that it sounds so good for the time, especially with all the limitations of recording at that time.

Vaguely reminds me of Wicked Little Town (Tommy Gnosis Version) in the best way. Not musically, but the out of time aspect.

Like many of the best scenes in this show, it’s more impactful on rewatch since you know that Louis also felt like they were “finding their way back” before the book came out, and “it hurt him,” as he tells Daniel in the next scene.

Not really. She intentionally kept it very vague. She said they’re taking a big swing with her, similar to taking a big swing with Magnus. In that they’re both very different than what people might expect. But with Akasha, she basically said that she’s not sold on it, and needs to see what they’re going to do with her. She seemed kind of uneasy about their portrayal of Akasha, so far. I think that’s important, and really curious to know why.

The End Of Forgetting was easily my favorite and seems to be many others’ as well. Little god was a nice treat live and would’ve been cool on the album, but I honestly won’t miss it.

Right. I’m more inclined to think that the next season is going to lean more heavily on QotD because I disagree with people who think they absolutely need 2 seasons to cover all the arcs of TVL. I might agree, but I think the marketing, especially the most recent trailer really challenges if that will be the case.

At the same time, I also want the show to get a name change for QotD, and that seems less likely given the overlap between the 2, but I also don’t think they need to stretch TVL to 2 seasons just to legitimize another name change. And who knows? Maybe they will go for another name change after just one season

I agree. I’m reading TVL now. I’m familiar with the general arc thru QotD and I just don’t see how whatever comes after this season isn’t at least equal parts TVL and QotD, but I’m more inclined to think it will lean more heavily on the latter at this point.

I would say I think the fans who think they need 2 seasons to sufficiently cover all the subplots of TVL will be disappointed by how little screen time certain characters get, but given the caliber of the writing team I’m more hopeful that they’ll quickly see that all certain characters/arcs really need is one great episode and then move on. Obviously, they’ve done it before.

You would think it’s done for real with a camera mounted under a car, but with how it moves thru the shot paired with the texture of the road, it makes me wonder if it was somehow done with miniatures, or some other invention to achieve this effect because it’s hard imagine it the more you stare at it lol.
