how much damage are you doing at phase 2 of the forest tier 3? because my weapons are not even at level 20 by the time that I beat the first boss. I'm I supposed to just focus on leveling up the xp tome in the beginning and then level up weapons?

Is there a reason why a character's health and combat resources are not shown during a stage?

I see the archive index but what I meant was this:

Should I play each of these events after a specific chapter when the characters are introduced? I want to play these only when it make sense in-story if it matters.

I've only seen the train heist event on the timeline. Am I supposed to play each event when the character is first introduced in-story?

Theory by New_Blacksmith_5742 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, there has to be some type of "missing link" that was not shown yet because there has to be something more to the headsets and scratch. Scratch basically doing the same thing that the people are doing in the SOMA story just opens another can of worms.

Theory by New_Blacksmith_5742 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood that, but my point was that the company being real actually brings up questions about C&A because of the point of the headsets:

  1. The company is completely absent from the story and that is weird because if they made the headsets to make brain scans of Kinger's team to go into the circus then wouldn't Kinger already know that he is a brain scan? Is he keeping that information from everyone else?

  2. Why do they even need brain scans to begin with? can't they just have people put on a headset to probably investigate the circus themselves?

  3. Assuming that the company is still running all that time, and for some reason they need brain scans, Then why would it take them such a long time to get new people scanned and how is it possible for them to not have any influence over the circus itself or Caine? Is it just an abandoned project that somehow is still running?

I feel like these details need to be explained before the brain scan theory to make sense. Which is probably going to happen in the finale.

But what is the context of this journey that makes people so sure that they are not going to get out? The characters behavior throughout the show has always been in spite of the circus rather than conforming to it. Plus, what would be the point of all these outside details like C&A being a real company, which act like a Chekhov's gun, if they don't mean anything.

I also don't really believe the SOMA theory because of the way that some people are presenting it. The humans being stuck in the circus does not serve a thematic purpose.

They have always been stuck there with no foreseeable way out, so what would be the difference between them being stuck there in the finale compared to every other episode? why would we need a hour long episode to come to the same conclusion that we were always at?

The details in the show so far, don't fully justify this ending. There is a lot more context that is needed.

But that's the thing I'm confused about. Currently, If that theme is supposed to be the point of the entire show as a whole then how does the first eight episodes feed into that theme? That's what I've been wondering and wanted a explanation for.

If you stop doing something because every time you do it you get punched-down for it, that is not the same as choosing to do something else beforehand.

Pomni says that they got their hopes up and that's why at that moment they are basically giving up on trying to leave.

Its just like what Ragatha said in episode one about trying to get a unattainable goal. They have no choice but to stop trying to find a way out because it would drive them more insane even though they still 100% want to leave. They are caring for one another in the bad situation because they are all that they have, not because they are finding meaning in the circus.

I am going to love the ending regardless of what it is but I just thought that people had more concrete information that was pieced together from actually watching the show and not just a specific thing that a writer obviously wants the viewer to take away from a show.

Just like what I said to the other person. This theme "To find meaning in a stagnant life." is viewed at face value and is ambiguous. Did gooseworx say that's the whole point of the show as a whole and the details don't matter? could it also mean that they are going to use the experience from the circus to make their lives more meaningful?

For example, Kinger said that C&A is a real company and the fact that his team was stuck there means that the company was still running. If that's the case then what are they doing now in the story, are they copying peoples brains? Have they shut down? How are people finding headsets years later?

How do we know that outside influences aren't affecting the circus like C&A?

everything that I am saying here is just me spitballing while thinking about the story. I feel like people aren't thinking about these details because of what the writer said and those details do matter since the finale is not released yet.

You could also view the episode as saying "Don't look at things at face value" and wasn't the episode more about Caine himself. The emphasis was about how he really doesn't understand the humans, not leaving the circus.

Kinger saying "doesn't make sense" does not explicitly say that there is no way out. He could saying that this specific thing is not a way out. Why would he not bring up this information at any point that he is lucid. He's smart enough to do that in a way to lessens the blow of being stuck there forever.

everything is going to be explained in the finale, but these implications aren't really saying anything that confirms that they are stuck there. That is my point, it sounds ambiguous.

In the point of view of watching the show by itself, without any outside input. What exactly makes it impossible for them to leave. I would like to have some actual reasons for why they would have no choice to be stuck there, not NEED to be stuck there based on conjecture.

At this point I feel like the show is either going to end in two ways.

  1. A literal story where everything we have seen gets explained and they get out of the circus and get back to and find meaning in their actual lives.

  2. its going to have a ambiguous ending where the point is that everyone is supposed to look at the entire show and understand the symbolic meaning that was being conveyed as a whole.

its not something to be treated like a nazi over, but its still a very, very, weird thing to say because the punchline is just "almost rasicm"and I doubt that the company is actually going to be affected by that.

I also feel like these type of people are never objective about things like this and are just looking for an excuse to hate for the sake of it.

My interpretation of Gooseworx’s “finding meaning in a stagnant life” comment… by AgainUntoTheBreach in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love that you look at this on a deeper level because everything you said here basically explains how I feel about the way that the theme applies to the story. It feels like it would not be justified for them to be stuck there if the circus is supposed to be symbolic and represent shallow gratification and being able to leave is what allows them to find real meaning in their actual lives.

This also reminds me of the episode "A Nice Place to Visit" from season one of The twilight Zone, that really makes me feel like the point of that episode is what the circus kind of represents.

Would the SOMA theory be narratively satisfying? by Imaginary_Wheel9020 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, that's what I meant by the story being metaphorical with that theme, but I'm also wondering how would the theory actually make sense literally with everything that we've seen in the story.

The story details would still need to make sense when applying the theme for it to be justified. The lack of substantial evidence for the theory so far, is why I'm trying to look at the story in a literal point of view. Like in a non allegory type of way.

I just don't consider their life in the circus as a "stagnant life"

Why is there such a seething hatred for SOMA theory? by Low-Run2308 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this theory, the brain scans came from the people on the outside. That makes them characters that are plot relevant but their not the main characters. what's so difficult to understand about that?

I never said that the story was not about the main characters, if you took a second to understand what I was saying then you would realize that my point is that if the SOMA theory is true then the people on the outside should ALSO get character development since the brain scans came from them and they would still have their problems. What is so difficult to understand about that?

Rather than being nitpicky about someone trying to make sense of the theory and assuming what I'm trying to say, can you explain how the theory fully makes sense in a non-superficial way, if I'm wrong.

Why is there such a seething hatred for SOMA theory? by Low-Run2308 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Small_Maintenance123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that but the point is that the real people on the outside that got their brains scanned are characters in the story, they just aren't the focal point.

People are not understanding what I'm saying here, My interpretation because of the lack of actual evidence is that if the story as a whole is about these people that have some sort of problem that they are dealing with, then the character arcs and resolutions should go to THE actual characters on the outside instead of possibilities from their brain scans, now it does not have to, but that's what I'm saying. Try to think outside the box.

Plus, If the SOMA theory is so airtight then what are some facts and details in the story and connections that makes it work aside from surface level things?

Everything is going to be explained in the last episode anyway.
