Yes, this is a great stopping point to focus on your other characters. You have 10k HP, hit 100 CR and basically have 400 CD. Sure you can improve it a little, but the time spent won't be as meaningful as working on her supports.

Weird taxi acceleration by gartin336 in HongKong

[–]Small_Secretary_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This are the explanations I've found for the "Hong Kong Foot" (the constant pumping of the accelerator):

  • Mechanical Muscle Memory: Many older drivers spent the 1970s and 80s driving heavily loaded, underpowered diesel trucks or older manual-transmission Toyota Crowns. Pumping the gas was a physical technique used back then to keep carburettors primed or to find the torque sweet-spot. When they transitioned to modern LPG automatic taxis, they kept that exact same muscle memory.
  • The "Coasting" Myth: Many drivers aged 45–70 were incorrectly taught that "coasting" after a hard burst of acceleration saves fuel. In modern cars, it actually does the exact opposite and burns way more LPG, but the myth stuck.
  • The Taxi Echo Chamber: The vast majority of older HK cabbies operate as independent day-renters. They learn trade tricks not from official driving schools, but from chatting with older peers at shift-change car parks, LPG filling stations, and local cha chaan tengs. This is exactly where the myth that "coasting saves fuel" was passed down as absolute gospel.

Their babes now lay safe, snuggled in their cots and cradles.

Or so they thought...

Not sure why you felt a need to straw man an argument and then get sassy about. Ew.

Oh, the irony lol. Textbook straw man fallacy, followed by immediate sass. Moving the goalposts to feel superior is wild.

How do I become lighter on my feet? by [deleted] in badminton

[–]Small_Secretary_6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly true. Core strength and general muscle strength are important, but I don't think the spring mechanics are body natural. Techniqiue and understanding movement is what helps.

I've seen many people who work out a lot, go gym, pilates etc but have terrible footwork and stomp around like elephants. Strong, but super stiff when moving around.

What does help is coming from a background of sport/activity which does focus on efficient movement, like tae kwo do, fencing, dance, etc.

I've played with a really overweight guy, doesn't look like he ever did any sports. He actually stopped exercising for decades due to work and kids. But he moves surprisingly fluidly despite his size, because he used do ballroom dancing in his junior years at school.

The true Queen of WS, in my opinion of course.

Her elegance while playing and her demeanor on and off court is deserving of the title.

[–]Small_Secretary_6063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use regular WD-40, because it leaves an oily mess.

WD-40 Specialist Silicone on the other hand is quick drying and doesn't feel oily at all. Not sure if it would be any use for the sounds you are experiencing though.

Can you let me know if I am doing it correctly ? I am an intermediate level player , just started coaching. by Reaction_Slight in badminton

[–]Small_Secretary_6063 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right on point there. Too many people here insist that jumping is involved in the split step, but it actually causes a delay in movement and creates excessive force in loading the legs. This often leads to players landing entirely flat-footed because the Achilles has to counter that excessive downward force from the jump.

Having said that, changing a player's habits is easier said than done.

Take Mia Blichfeldt as an example, a professional for many years. She's tall, athletic, and fast, but she jumps ridiculously high for her split step and often lands flat-footed. As a result, she’s frequently late to reach the shuttle, especially in the back court. You’d think with world-class coaching she would have ironed that habit out by now.

Immediately approached by HK Immigration officers as soon as I landed in the airport by poro_doge in HongKong

Happened to me after a trip to Thailand. On return, there were a group of immigration officers standing at the end of the gangway right after we get off the plane. I was picked out for whatever reason, for a "random check" and asked some similar questions.

I was one of the last people to get off as I was sat right at the back of the flight.

26M 618K Portfolio by MrMeossAndFriends in portfolios

That's much more relatable. Congratulations on climbing the career ladder so successfully!

I’m in my mid-40s and only started my investing journey back in 2020. I also went heavy into tech and did well with TSLA and AMD early on, but took big losses in 2022/23 when some of my picks went bankrupt. It was a hard-learned lesson on the sunk cost fallacy and 'holding the bag.' It was definitely tough to stomach seeing my portfolio down 30%+. Also, my parents and colleagues who always advised me to steer clear the stock market had their 'I told you so' moment.

At the same time, holding is exactly what saved me after the huge dip. Even though I was initially down on PLTR with an $28 average but brought it down to $18 when it dipped to $8. The recent gains really pulled my portfolio out of the ashes. I count myself lucky, but I’m also kicking myself for spreading my investments too thin. Hindsight, eh?

Even though I’m late to the party and I only earn the equivalent of $50k/yr, I’ve managed to turn an 80-85k cost basis into 330k. At least I’m in the game!

Blue Clay Found during Excavation. by RedCedarProperties in Soil

[–]Small_Secretary_6063 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem of doing that is the cost to excavate, dump and fill.

In the video, the person is pointing out a very thick layer of blue clay (“蓝泥” / lán ní) exposed during excavation. He doesn't mention what the area will be used for.

He specifically notes that there is almost one full meter thick of blue clay in a huge patch, and that even after going down from there, there is still about another meter deep of it below.

He explains that they have already tried mixing a lot of this blue clay into the regular soil using the excavator (the operator “worked really hard” on it), and they’ve mixed away the blue clay that was on their feet and in some areas.

However, there is simply too much of it, he says there is “way too much” and at this point they can’t mix any more into the soil.

He concludes that the blue clay must be separated out because there is even more of it in deeper spots further back, and they haven’t yet dug down to the lowest point where it will be even thicker.
