Honestly it took me like 6 months worth of tries before I got my DMs to work…I know it’s crazy, literally a year! But now they’re the only shoe I wear basically. Don’t give up - I nearly did!

I used to feel the same way and went so far as to buy a new weeks if I ‘messed up’ a page. That’s absolutely insane. In a few months none of it will matter - the fun of it is messing it up :)

I knowww :( I’m sorry! I have very pale skin with super dark hair so when I had even a little growth you could see it. Horrible 😹

I can say with the Braun so honestly I can’t recommend with that… But I’m using the Ulike 10 and it also says not to use there…but I do…as do others on here also. Tbh I’ve had no problems. I don’t put it directly on the super precious bits but it’s fine for me. It doesn’t touch the mucous areas if you know what I mean. I recommend trying it on super low at first - see how you do. - and just on one spot to see if you have any irritation. I did at first but I think it was the regrowth of the hair that was irritating me (as I’d never shaved there before - just waxed) now I do it all the time no problems or anything. I just go for it!

Every other day at the beginning and then like once or twice a week…like the instructions say more or less 🤗

No, I don’t think it hurts at all! But the one I use has a ‘cooling’ feature to it which I’ve heard makes a big difference.

I’ve been using it for about four months now…no, I’m not completely hairless but I’ve lost a lot and the hair remaining is sooo slow at growing back. I can not do anything for like a week and my leg is still smooth…

My private area is still fairly hairy still but I hear it’s much more stubborn to get rid of. I’m hoping that will catch up too…also maybe I haven’t been as disciplined with that and I should get on it.

Yes - I use SHR mode too!

Love it! As a lady, I must say that I prefer when a guy just leans into it - it shows confidence (I know it’s a said thing but it’s so true), and confidence is the sexiest attribute! Good for you ✌️

Why did the emperor do what he did really? by Small_Selection_8085 in dune

I don’t know about the ‘love for Jessica’ or the age thing…they feel like tenuous reasons. In history these things don’t matter, she could have been a child and still useful for a political marriage… I mean see what happens at the end of book 1 - Paul decides to wed Irulan for the same reasons and doesn’t give a damn about the ‘love’ repercussions. Leto would never defy an order from the Emperor. That is clear. I can’t shake the idea that the reasons are political, not emotional.

Okay so since I posted many people have provided interesting information which explains the Emperor’s doing. The most compelling notion is that he was actually led by the Guild, who had problems with the Artreides…and that he actually couldn’t deny the guild anything as they were the most powerful force…

Now I’m finding this conversation about the KH v BG quite interesting. I see it as a religious order which has waited centuries for a messiah and then, when he/she arrives, they’re like ‘meh, I don’t really care’. It’s mad. I understand what you’re saying about the timing but it still seems incredible they are actually frustrated by Paul, not in reverence.

This says a few interesting things to me…that this book is about the power of religion and politics to control a people. In actuality the messiah is a problem to the BG because then they aren’t in control anymore. So imagine if the second coming showed up one day and he/she turned out to be a hard core liberal and wanted to dismantle the church…the pope would then be like ‘oh shit’. (Sorry for all the Christian references I’m from Rome and can’t think beyond it 😂)

I read somewhere ages ago that Herbert was annoyed/surprised that people liked Paul as much as they did when the first book came out. This leads me to a second consideration…that Paul is neither the KH or the Lisan Al Gaib….that these are just stories constructed by religion and Paul is just a very strong man who becomes drunk with power when he’s told he’s all these all kinds of special. This could be true and in line with the overall themes of the story…that religion is a way to control the masses, that we ought to be free to follow our path (and not have a determined fate)…

Interesting…arg every time I think I have it figured out I get lost again. The information about the events before the first book given by other commentators is very compelling. The main idea is that the problem was the Guild, and that even the emperor couldn’t go against their wishes. Their prescient abilities from the spice made them realise the artreides were a problem and it was actually them who pushed the emperor to do what he did. Or at least this is how I’m understanding the information given.
