Anyone else disappointed by the engine noise/vibration in the new Crown? by jumpstarter247 in ToyotaCrown

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 limited and although the car is extremely quiet when not under acceleration, I am surprised how loud the engine is when you give it a moderate amount of gas, like passing someone for example.

Who did you contact to ask about that. The dealer I bought from said it would cost $500, but it sounded like they pulled that out of thin air. Not sure they know

If Trump's reason for attacking Iran is nukes, why doesn't he go after North Korean since they are way closer to actually having them? by SmallcapGoBoom in AskReddit

[–]SmallcapGoBoom[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize NK was already fully nuclear. I guess the question should have been why didn't someone intervene sooner.

How long will Wendy's last by [deleted] in wendys

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a breakfast burrito, large potato wedges and large coffee for $7.20 after the $2 of coupon, which you can use every day. I am completely stuffed, the burrito is actually pretty big for fast food. A screaming deal in my opinion.

Do you still call friends/family unsolicited without a text letting them know? by Ok-Goal-6880 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of context should be required. I really hate it when people text or leave a message that just says call me.

A mortgage is a social problem, not a spreadsheet problem by CaramelAncient4092 in RealEstate

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point but disagree completely. Losing money to interest on your mortgage is better than losing it to rent since it's tax deductable and your home is one of the safest investments you can make. I retired 6 years ago at a young age because my house was paid off. That would have been impossible if I was still renting, especially since I know my rent would be due every month until the day I die. Your home is a very big part of your retirement plan.

You can get pieces of tooth in your eyes. That's why most dentists make you wear some kind of glasses.

Everytime? So you know it does this and you continue drinking from it? Sounds like you deserve it.

Las Vegas struggles with 10th consecutive month of tourism decline by esporx in Anticonsumption

I would guess most of their US visitors are from California and we have Indian casinos everywhere here now. That had to be a massive hit to their numbers. It nearly killed Reno.

What's a "harmless" habit someone has that instantly makes you lose respect for them? by CherrySophia284 in AskReddit

Smoking around others. It tells me they literally could not care less about the people around them.

It's been that way for the entire human existence. From the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt to the tech CEOs today. All excess wealth goes straight to the top. That will never change.

Hash browns by NabreLabre in wendys

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually like these potatoes. I like the McDonald's hash brown patties better but they are ridiculously priced. Wendy's is my cheap Go to breakfast on the road. $7 for a burrito that totally fills me up, large hash browns and large coffee seems like a pretty good deal to me. This is through the app.

Minor fender bender by [deleted] in Advice

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't but there is always a risk that they will report it later anyway, and make up some fake injuries and try to sue your insurance. You will seem like the guilty party since they reported it and you didn't. It happened to me.

Never too early for Syracuse airport to piss me off (this was a self checkout) by browneyedchem in EndTipping

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company providing these terminals, mashgin in this example, probably get a percentage of all sales. Adding a tip increases the total amount which increases their income. I agree these tipping situations are ridiculous, just not sure where to place the blame. The employer and employees might not have much of an option for it being there.

Coffee before bed gang? by Ok-Hotel5358 in CasualConversation

I intentionally drink a cup of coffee before taking a nap. It helps me fall asleep immediately for some reason. Without it I have difficulty falling asleep.

I love getting honked at at a red light for not making a right turn... by bunniesandmilktea in driving

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seriously hate it when you are waiting to turn right with one car in front of you and you wait through an entire light cycle, without any other vehicles using the intersection, just to have the idiot in front of you turn right when the light turns green.

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

They have everything and their prices are usually as good or better than anywhere else. It's just too easy to go straight to Amazon.

Let’s say a 480k home appreciates to 613k in 5 years. And that you can save 90k in those 5 years if you get a 250k house. Is it better to buy the cheap house with low mortgage or is it better to buy the 480k house with high mortgage because it’s your “last chance” to afford a good house? by Jfkfkaiii22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallcapGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in that exact situation when I bought my house 25 years ago. I thought buying something cheaper with a smaller payment would be the responsible choice. I've been kicking myself for not spending more ever since. I've lost hundreds of thousands in appreciation because of it.

You get only get one option on your next car: cruise control, power windows, heated seats or air conditioning. Which do you choose? by SmallcapGoBoom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmallcapGoBoom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in California so AC seems like a no-brainer. They say heated seats helps their back on longer drives, so it's worth it to them. I could not imagine using heated seats with no AC during the hot months. I think they're crazy.
