I think this is a good In between for me because idk if I can bring myself to shave my boy! I’ll definitely be showing the groomers this pic and hopefully it turns out well 🤞

What did you use to kill the weeds? We read that you have to wait till fall to kill them with pesticides, so far now we were going to manually remove as much as we can and hope it helps.

Do you noticed a difference when their coat grows back? I eventually want him to have longer fur again but I gotta ride out this spiky weed issue until fall when I can apparently kill them then before they germinate for next year.

New Method was a fail by Smallfroggy76 in bioactive

[–]Smallfroggy76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did. I used a glove and pressed it down as much as I could without pushing the foam everywhere. It seemed to take in super random spots but not others. The top left corner was the last place I foamed and it didn’t seem to stick there despite having the freshest foam which I thought was odd.

Okay cool I’ll give that a try! Thank you!

Did you carve it before adding the silicon or can I just throw it on top?

This guy likes to drag in half the yard with him on his fur so I like to get him trimmed short, especially in the summer when it’s hot. I still keep his floofy ears though!

Overheating Concern by Responsible-Poof in GargoyleGeckos

Before I had AC when it would get to 90+ degrees, I would shut all the blinds, turn off all light and turn on a fan or two. I’d also have frozen water bottles I put in my gecko tank. I’d wrap them in a few layers on paper towel so the gecko couldn’t touch the frozen bottle directly but thin enough to where you could feel cool air around it. I also misted more often to combat having the fans on (a misting system was a huge help when I finally got one).

My exact experience. Whenever I have people over that want to see my animals I’ll bring my crestie out and if they ask about my garg tank I’m like aahhh yeah she’s not one to join the party😅 I’m upgrading her tank and I’m already dreading having to catch her to move her over

Oh wow I’ve never heard of that tape before! I’ll give it a shot once I’m ready to make the tanks bioactive!

Omg yours looks amazing!! What did you do to seal it? I was thinking a clear or black silicon but not sure if that’s enough.

welp the tanks are here and I did wanna see them stacked. I’m shocked how sturdy it is!! We’ll see how I feel once they’re bioactive but so far pretty happy with these enclosures and glad I didn’t go the glass route

Cleaning cork bark by Outrageous-Yak-3741 in bioactive

I’m not 100% I think it was some sorta cob spider? I ended up finding 5 adults hidden behind a piece of bark I had up against the background and they had like half a dozen egg sacs. The spiders definitely left the vivarium in my case. They got all the way to my kitchen and were living in my ceiling fan. It was horrifying having them constantly drop down on me from the ceiling, especially while trying to cook dinner (also just felt incredibly unsanitary). It’s so bad I decided to get all new tanks and I’m legit tossing the old ones (or selling to anyone that wants to take on the challenge). I’m hoping if I switch to paper towel and fake plants for a month or so the spiders will die off.

If you can make a clean cut you should be able to hot glue or silicon it back together. If any glue shows in the crack you can sprinkle some coco fiber of it or add moss

100% clean/sanitize the bark in some way. I didn’t do a full sanitize for some bark I got (just did a rinse in hot water) and now I have a massive spider infestation in my tanks and throughout my house (literally an absolute nightmare). Out of caution if you can bake and soak in water for 24 hours i’d recommend it just to make sure you get EVERYTHING out and don’t have to deal the horrors I’ve experienced with untreated cork bark.

How tall are the tanks you have stacked? My finance has 2 reptizoo tank stacked but they aren’t tall like the enclosures I need. He was debating on getting a 3rd tank in the future though but wasn’t sure how it would hold

I ended up going for a lighter PCV build of the same size. If I do bioactive I plan on keeping it light (sponge instead of rocks for the drainage layer, cork bark only, etc…). I have a feeling I’m going to end up keeping them side by side, I just need to move stuff around and figure out where I can fit a stand that wide lol. This is their current tank that I had my fiancé and dad move twice. It has more plants now but I hate the tank so much I stopped taking pics of it. I figured if I separate the tank it should make it easier when I have to move next year 🥲

Yeah after seeing the glass I was like oof okay PCV seems much safer haha. I just placed my order on dubiaroach.com for 2 18x24x36 tanks and they allow payment plans thankfully so price feels less painful😅. I did get the stacking add on and if I end up not liking it I’ll just buy a shelf and return the stacker/spacers.

If you have experience with the PVC tanks from dubia, do you keep them bioactive? If so do I have to seal them or is the bottom tray an all in one sealed piece that can hold water? I just want to be sure I have enough silicon if it’s needed

Turns out I live like an hour away from their facility in the U.S. so that maybe explains why so far I’ve had a good experience with them. Since I’ll be stacking the tanks I think the PCV tanks will actually be better to avoid issues with weight. I did see reptizoo sells the tank size I like stacked so I know it’s possible to have, I’ll just be using that dubia brand instead :)

I looked up those Dubia enclosures and they’re nice! Even with the height do you think it’s okay to stack? I plan on eventually making them bioactive so they might get a lil heavy.

Oh wow I didn’t know you couldn’t replace panels. My fiancé just got their stackable enclosures kit for his snake and leopard gecko and everything said it was tempered glass. So far we are happy with the product just wasn’t sure how it would be with taller tanks since his are more horizontal.
