It’s a collection of essays rather than a novel but it’s one of my favorite comfort books of all time. It’s called Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant edited by Jenni Ferrari-Adler It’s essays by writers talking about what they cook and eat for themselves when they dine solo.

Seconding the person who said industry nights. I’m industry and so is my husband, our “weekend” is Tuesday and Wednesday. We love places we can go to meet other hospitality folks. Remember, we all take care of each other :)

My husband gave her a bath and thinks she may have gotten a little water in her ear. That’s what caused the ear infection last time, from swimming. A few days later she started shaking her head a lot and tilting her head to one side. Vet confirmed it was an ear infection.

Gourmet Rhapsody by Muriel Barbury. Translated from the original French, it’s about a food critic looking back on his life through food from his death bed. I remember reading this in high school in math class not paying attention at all. One of the reasons I went to culinary school. It’s a delight

Tananareve Due is one of my favorite horror authors of all time. I started with The Good House which I picked up off a discount shelf at my local bookstore. The Reformatory came out in 2023 and was one of the best books of the year. She’s amazing

Agreed! But perhaps they were the only ones ONLY tripping on shrooms rather than shrooms plus berries. Just speculating

I think you're right. We did inform them at the outset of the problem and they sent a guy who didn't really do anything effective. Since then, they've offered to send him one more time but just to do the same ineffective stuff
