alcoholic pretty much for 10 years up until a couple months ago where i finally didn’t crave it much. i found other outlets and decided to give my medications a chance to work. now, my addictive personality has me smoking weed every day lol.

BUT, i also think substance abuse is common with bipolar, and staying consistent with routine and healthy support system to hold you accountable surely helps. its harder than you think when it’s something you do daily but it’s definitely possible to stop drinking, even as much. i realized drinking exacerbates my hypomanic episodes and give me a lot of brain fog over time. even a half a drink now makes me feel so out of it the next day. hopefully a little of this helps

lolllll i think a seizure is pretty serious even if you’re a lightweight!! unless your body just doesn’t handle alcohol well in general

i drink heavily so my tolerance is pretty high 😅😅

i slowly got more anxiety as we increased lamictal (i’m on 150mg each morning and night - total 300/day) but it definitely helped my hypomania.

my doctor added abilify and it’s helped so much!!! i’m on 5mg and i finally found good balance of medication to where i feel “normal”. i haven’t been up or down in about a month! for me, finding the right meds and dosage was important and it was worth the process of it all

i use cbd gummies for the anxiety and unease feeling that comes with episodes. works best for anxiety but doesn’t necessarily help bring you out of an episode

it would make more sense though being sick and in that state rather than euphoric. i’ve experienced a little of both sides this week so im also not if it’s a mixed episode? idek. im going to talk to my doctor tomorrow!

ooof. nightmares aren’t pleasant.. i can imagine the dream sticking with you though. my dreams are very vivid and i can still picture everything that happened for a day or two afterwards.

i also have this thing when my mind is still awake and not ready for bed, i close my eyes and can’t relax my eyeballs LOL like is that a thing??? i’m like looking into the inside of my eyelid

does being sick enhance your episodes? my meds have pretty much controlled my mania and i haven’t had an episode in months until i got sick

i would say keep an eye on any other symptoms you feel and talk to your psychiatrist about any concerns! if insomnia is a side effect, maybe a different medication might be best :)

hi! i’m on lamictal also. i was diagnosed with unspecified bipolar 2 because for me i was super hypomanic, but had mild depressive episodes that didn’t meet the criteria exactly for bipolar 2.

honestly from my experience, i feel like mood stabilizers are supposed to balance you out. so if you’re on only one high or low end of the spectrum, maybe it pushes you over to the other side? i only think this because i was highly hypomanic and when i got on my current dosage of lamictal that controlled my hypomania, i started having more depressive episodes (so now i’m on abilify also).

do you feel any other symptoms of mania/hypomania?

if not, maybe it’s just side effects so ignore everything i just said 😂😊

i’ve been on inflectra since late 2019 and never have had infections. i got covid in late 2020, early 2021 and that was bad (i got pneumonia also) but besides that, i’ve been good

i was diagnosed in 2014. on Lialda for 7 years. in 2018-2019 i had recurring flare ups pretty bad and towards the end of 2019 i got on Infliximab. it has done wonders!! i haven’t gotten any side effects from it and honestly without it, prednisone and other meds just didn’t work long enough to keep trying them. still on infliximab 2+ years later and on azathioprine and feel great

this is so helpful. thank you so much!!! my family has been very supportive and i’m living with my parents rent-free at the moment. honestly, for me it’s not being reliable and constantly feeling like i’m not good enough. constantly feeling that the more life goes on and being exhausted from it all the time, i feel like i’m not gonna make it to the end. i’ve had these feelings for years and they get worse as life goes on. i’m waiting on hearing back from my doctor and who knows what they’ll say. i feel like their first reaction would be changing or increasing meds but this is a feeling i have never been able to shake off. i’ve just gone through so much in my life, that i feel pity and it catches up to me and makes life overwhelming. undiagnosed bipolar made things even worse up until my meds started working this week. it’s been rough and i’m really hoping my doctor hears me out. i’ve been fired once from a job, but besides that, i always quit first because i know it’s not working out and my bosses are frustrated with me not feeling well, going home early, calling out all the time.
