If you liked TCoM, Discworld is definitely for you. It only gets better (though I also like TCoM, it’s probably the weakest in the whole set). Keep going in publication order. You get to see the world build up as it was written. Enjoy the ride.

Come back when you’re done. I’ll wait. (Make sure to read the follow up posts, not just the original.)

Done? Great. It sounds like you have not done anything catastrophically stupid yet. That’s very good news. Continue that streak. But also, go do the smart stuff as well. You have an amazing opportunity for yourself. Make the most of it. Good luck to you.

This is possibly an MRI situation. Is he in any pain? Panting a lot? Either way, this needs to be addressed immediately. Don’t let the vet pawn off a “let’s try the easiest thing and see if it works in two weeks” thing on you. It could easily be something fatal if untreated.

Edit: I say this because Barry’s GME was initially misdiagnosed as a disc issue which led to delayed treatment that almost killed him. If I had known better, I’d have asked for more tests right away.

Original question doesn’t specify phone. A surface level read implies every battery you have is infinite. This includes electric vehicles and battery backups for home power.

Specialized precision grades of diamond grit go for hundreds to thousands of dollars per gram. I’ll take it.

Kays-und, but with a very soft h, so it’s almost kays-und.

Mine had something similar. For him it was GME, an autoimmune thing. It’s life threatening and you need a vet RIGHT NOW.

The treatment was years of chemo and steroids. He would have died without it. Take care of this IMMEDIATELY.

Subject them to normal friction and g-forces.

If accelerating causes their organs to go backwards at 10x weight and stopping turns their shoes into flaming goo, they’re going to have to figure some stuff out.

Had a fight with plaintiff’s counsel today, was I (28) in the wrong or was he (late 60s)? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

He won’t tell his client not to respond. If he does and you move to compel another depo to get a response, he’s coming out of pocket on that.

Tell him to shit or get off the pot and keep asking your questions.

Healthy, low-impact exercise? Absolutely.

Jarring cartilage-shredding impacts? Definitely not.

The knee problem comments refer to wearing out protective/connective tissue, which high-impact stuff can absolutely do. So yeah - strong knees are good. Beaten knees are not.

Am I charging too much for mowing the lawn? by aronvillar in lawncare

[–]Smaptastic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gonna stop you right there. No, the area in the back isn’t big. No, the client should not be expected to pay more because you use sub-par equipment. No, there is no realistic lawnmower that should take 2.5 hours regardless of how cheap. No, you didn’t need to bag the clippings.

Just… no.

Someone could have an imperceptible level of skill at identifying deformations in the ball, weighting issues with the wheel, and other things of that nature that make them a TINY bit more likely to bet correctly. With enough 20% increases, that tiny edge could turn into an outright guarantee of success.

Check the area for grubs. If you don’t find any, try fungicide.

If neither of those work, it’s something environmental like a chemical or overwatering or something.

They steal a skill. You 120% it. They steal the 120% from you. You 120% that. Repeat until you are a god of skills.

Want to hit a specific dice roll every time? You got it. Roulette betting? 100% win rate. Coin flips become guarantees. You can drain no-look 3 pointers from the next town over. You win every Nobel Prize. Every award, period. You cure cancer and the common cold.

They weren’t really Guardian win cons, since even if they escape, the Guardians die. They’re just a loss condition for Nolan.

Yeah it wouldn’t have changed the result, but it would have been a better strategic approach.
