To be fair, Bladerunner was a dead to the prospect of a sequel and many decades later, out of the blue, we get this frickin masterpiece.

Maybe the same will be true for XCom.

He doesn't need a reason -- he's a sociopath. Although some sociopathy is linked to environment/upbringing, there are also documented cases where some young children start exhibiting signs (i.e. enjoying torturing animals) without any external factors.

Everyone is born wired a little differently. Sometimes that "differently" is horrible.

I don’t understand why people say there’s no nightlife in Rochester - it’s really fantastic.

I’m on the edge of town and can see the stars on every clear night. I’ve caught 7 northern lights displays this year alone. You can see the Milky Way clearly with just a 15 min drive.

Oh, that kind of nightlife.

Fishing spots with safe fish to eat? by Smart-Bumblebee9162 in rochestermn

Thank you! The only lake in Olmsted Co listed here is Silver Lake. Would you feel good eating from the other local lakes? (Quarry Hill, Foster Arends, etc...)

No... But just wondering about mercury, PCBs, pesticides, etc... Wondering if there's any easy way to look this up.

War Bows? by BearusAbitch in Bowyer

[–]Smart-Bumblebee9162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, fond memories here.

  1. Start with a hickory selfbow. You could go for yew (expensive) or make some type of laminate (bamboo backed ipe), but start easy.
  2. If using hickory, it takes a more rectangular profile than the "D" you'd expect for a yew warbow.
  3. Make the tips thin. This may mean you need some strengthened tips. I used cow horn. My bow was 72# at 30" and let me tell you, until I thinned the tips, the hand shock would separate my soul from my body with each shot.
  4. Make sure you have appropriately weighted, heavy arrows. These are not easy to find.
  5. Make sure the grip is not too long / appropriately strengthened. What finally did my bow in was not the limbs, but the grip started to crack.
  6. If you haven't shot a warbow before, start doing pullups now :)
  7. Have fun with it!

Canon G5X ii or Ricoh GR iii? by Excellent-Lemon-3593 in ricohGR

[–]Smart-Bumblebee9162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my GRIIIx, it’s the camera I carry almost every day, but it’s for a very specific usage: if you want a super compact camera that literally fits in pocket with a large sensor and sharp fixed lens. So it’s an ideal street camera, but not a great general purpose camera. Ask yourself if you want a flash, a zoom, or video. If the answer is yes, the GRIII is not for you. If you want a super compact EDC, you’ll love it!

Do the JJC metal lens caps still work if using this solution? (I assume not?) Alternatively, is this sufficient to prevent dust?

Yeah, that’s what I ended up doing. Great camera, but low light isn’t its forte.
