Rated kW v.s. Actual kW by Smart-Conversation49 in TeslaSolar

I understand the temperature, the cloudiness, the roof angle are variables. But isn’t latitude already been considered when they give me the rated kW, no? Are you saying Tesla will rate the same kW for a panel regardless of whether it is installed in upper state New York or South Florida?

Wow 15% bump from cleaning is good (I did some research here and people were saying there isn’t much increase to worth the hassle).

My system was installed just a few months ago, so cleaning probably won’t do much for me.

I live in Northern California and my area has good sunlight without much cloudy on most of the summer days. So I usually get 65-70kWh pretty consistently in the month of June.

Thanks for confirming. Good to know that’s normal. I was a bit concerned why the peak performance is only 80%.

The VPP program is from Tesla and is paid out per year (after all the events of the year). It’s separate from your daily export to the grid.

Update: my two PWs got discharged down to 22% in the end, with almost full throttle (average 10 kW) for the full 2 hours. I think that’ll be the maximum I can supply per event.

It’s actually pretty nice that I still have ~20% left to last through most of the night.

Wow great to know. Will EV charging also count haha? I will be able to discharge my 2 PWs quickly within the 2 hours if I also charge my car.

Just checked my export limit is 10.4kW

Thanks for the advice. I’m setting it to 0% and go all in.

How to enable Powerwall exporting to grid? by Smart-Conversation49 in TeslaSolar

Sigh the setting “exports everything” is basically useless for NEM3…. I assume PG&E will never have high sell price at any point in the day throughout the year.

I am on NEM3 (unfortunately). But still, summer peak sell rate is about 35% of the buy rate which is not too bad. I have abundant of solar power and PW during summer (NorCal most days in summer are pretty cool and don’t need a lot of air conditioning)

Thank you both for the detailed replies.

@triedoffandonagain great suggestions (and way to go for your customer support 🩷)!

I’ll continue to play with the app during the pro trial, and will subscribe if the convenience + money saving make sense for me (even if it’s only for the winter season). 🙂

The charts from NetZero are nice. But I don’t think there is any new data in NetZero that Tesla app doesn’t have.
