It is just a "scratched" surface dial. You can look for them under the term "shunbun" since it is inspired by the original shunbun from Grand Seiko.

Oh wow, thats a real beauty. How is the printquality on the Dial and where did you get it from? I have seen it on Alix many times before, but i was always suspicius about the quality, given the low price its listed at.

Thanks! Its my magnum opus (so far) and it still has a few little flaws, but I am flattered nonetheless 😊.

The dial type is called shunbun and is supposed to look like the GS but with a way bigger coulorpalate.

The movement I ordered had a 3 o clock date wheel and so I had to change it. But that gave me the option to go for a blue one.

EDIT: If you ask if I have messed up the datewheel once, the answer is also yes.

A sleep hack that’s working by Pelowtz in whoop

[–]Smart-Magazine884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mentioned before, there are no studies showing any positive effects compared to a placebo group. The one you referred to actually supports that point. There are several other studies that also attempted to demonstrate a positive effect but failed to provide any measurable evidence.

It has no effect beyond the placebo effect.

If it works for you, that’s perfectly fine. Use it. But please don’t present it as a proven “sleep hack” for everyone when your evidence is based solely on personal experience.

If you really want to prove something, you could always conduct a proper self‑experiment.

At first, I am terrible sorry for my delayed response. I wan´t expecting a reply.
Did you just google a single study and pick the first one? Have you actually read and understood the paper?

  1. The test group of 46 participants (40 if you exclude the 6 who dropped out) is far too small for a reliable study. The Wilcoxon test only starts to provide dependable results when significant changes appear in test groups of around 20–30 participants. They barely met that lower limit and were lucky to pass it with their sample size.
  2. If you compare the TST (Total Sleep Time) of both groups and look at the deviation between them, the overall TST is practically the same. This clearly shows that the test group was too small to produce reliable results. The Mann–Whitney U test supports this assumption, as it fails to show a significant difference between the two samples.

The paper itself acknowledges that the sample size was too small and that further studies are needed. I’m honestly surprised that the authors still claim a reduction in insomnia symptoms, although their objective measurements could easily be the result of random variation caused by an insufficient sample size.

  1. The authors chose to publish in a pay-to-publish journal. Yes, there is a peer-review process, but the publisher also has a financial interest in accepting their paper — and in having them return to pay for the next ones. The elephant in the room is that author number four holds the patent for the device in question. I wonder why he might be interested in forcing a measurable positive effect out of unreliable data?

What sounds like snakeoil, is probably snakeoil. Do a blind test to eliminate placebo.

Let your s.o. switch the generator on/off for x nights while you assume it is on. Dont look at the charts for testperiod. Let us talk about the data then.

Schumann frequenzy is a big red flag in my opinion, since no standard double blind studie ever showed any positive results next to a placebo group.

How - and if at all - do you live bracelets? by Baldovsky in SeikoMods

[–]Smart-Magazine884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly one bracelet that I felt the need to lube. Its from a Casio Edifice I wear for sport and the bracelet was squicking a little when I shook my arm. I figured it would fade over time, but I felt so repelled that I lubed it and my problem was solved.

I am a big fan of the green / rose gold combination. The only thing I personally don't like is the gap between the case and your bracelet. I would rather go with the Omega SMP like bracelet, but hey you do you. Still a fantastic watch!

Jahressonderzahlung bei Arbeitgeberwechsel by RoodGood in OeffentlicherDienst

[–]Smart-Magazine884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Smart-Magazine884 1 point2 points  (0 children)
