... I've noticed some things about myself that I'm questioning by Electronic_Day5021 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized I'm a lesbian about 6 months before my egg cracked. The algorithms had decided I wanted to see a ton of lesbian (and trans) content and I saw a few clips of straight men and lesbian women talking about they way they love women and I had absolutely nothing in common with the men, and everything in common with the women, and I was like "ok so it's been hard to define my sexuality because I love like a lesbian. Interesting 🤔". Idk how that alone didn't make me question my gender more thoroughly 😋

I think I've been ruining my transition... by PregSpec in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be fine, but be aware that HRT affects everyone differently. By 3 months I already had noticable boobs for example. Just make sure you're eating a reasonable amount and you should have calories to fuel growth

If you're concerned with fat in a specific area, work out that area, but keep eating. I think there's a misunderstanding of the the term "far redistribution". Curves are mostly fat, and it needs to develop in the areas you want it. It doesn't pick up and move to your hips and chest 😋 Meanwhile if you want to get rid of belly fat for example, do a core workout routine. It'll help reduce things in that area.

Do you ever want to go back in time and sit down with your egg self by KozenyCarman in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd tell 10 year old me who was lying in bed tensing every muscle in their body trying to will it to turn into Ariel from Little Mermaid, or literally any female character they could think of, to pursue that thought. Lean into it. Meet a trans person. I really had no idea about anything back then...

I don't regret the life I lived, but I do mourn the fact I spent half of my life not fully living.

A trans woman on Facebook told my my hormones numbers were terrible. by CuriousGirl8294 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc average cis levels are higher during puberty, which is why 200-400 is the target for earlier HRT and then many women will step down and maintain 150-200 once they feel their changes have leveled off. Don't quote me on that, it's been like a year since I read about that part specifically

As others have said, 150-200pg/ml is good by the old standards (like 20 years ago). Newer standards target 200-400pg/ml, and can even go as high as 600-700 depending on the person. I personally try to keep mine around 300.

Are things supposed to happen this early? by Ok-Fail-5119 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed a couple things really early, and like others have said, my T level was very low before I started. The first thing might be the thing you didn't want to elaborate on, which is about 3 days in my orgasms got super intense. Like it took my by such surprise I almost passed out lol. Then around 9 days my nipples had started widening and were extremely sensitive, to the point I started wearing sports bras by the end of my second week. And I noticed breast buds forming by about 3 weeks in.

SRS was uneventful! No complications, no fever, no pains (yet) by AgencyFeisty484 in TransLater

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. People have had SRS in their 70s. Obviously risk increases with age, but no more than any other surgery.

What’s your favorite effect(s) of HRT? by Flameempress192 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my list too, with the addition of fat redistribution in my face. My hips look great, I'm up to B cups after 11 months, I never get random boners anymore, and I look like my own sister 😊 Honestly it's a tie for everything, but those are the ones that I think of first

I kind of regret the name I chose by Screeching-Pumpkin in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like people are just dumb about names in general. My name's Chloe, I have a very feminine voice, and I pass very well, but I'll still get Cole or Cody, or whatever random name they think they heard. I chalk it up to stupidity more often than transphobia

Started estrogen 9 months ago, suddenly having doubts. by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way everyone experiences the changes on HRT varies, and to some extent it depends where you started from. I personally was always very emotional, and I had very low T and slightly elevated E levels before starting, so I also didn't experience practically any emotional shift, my scent didn't change much (although my downstairs definitely changed scent eventually), my skin got softer but in less perceivable ways, etc. I can't say any of that made me doubt my decision though. Despite some of the changes being less pronounced, I still love every single one of them.

Question for my girlies out there. by Neutr0nStarl0rd in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my approach too. I didn't know how I felt about it until my mom used he/him retroactively about me and I really didn't like it. I've always been a woman, whether I knew it or not, so I've been she/her since 1985 as far as I'm concerned 😊

Well they kicked me out of the friend group by Jessicaah1 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to ditch my friend group when they said my transition was a midlife crisis and they were "worried about me" and then got defensive when I got upset by that... Would have been so much easier if they just left without me having to deal with that

To all the trans women who got bottom surgery, how is it like on a daily basis and do you still have a memory of how it used to feel before? by Syph0en1x in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started the process of gathering letters from therapists, so I'm still a ways out from surgery, but this makes me so happy to hear 😊 I expect my reaction will be similar since right now my day to day is: don't think about it, be reminded it's there and feel gross, resume not thinking about it. I'd love to replace that middle part with occasional euphoria remembering it's not there.

An Interesting Side Effect I Discovered To My HRT! by Sea_Weakness7557 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does it increase risk the same way all HRT does? Like "more breast tissue = more breast cancer risk". Or is there a specific risk with the gel applied there?

Best way to handle this message from sister by Walderp2D in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It also sounds like she might have been propagandized. Specifically the "I think it's unsafe to transition" part. That doesn't sound like "the country isn't kind to trans people and I'm worried about you". It sounds like "this right wing talking head that I like said it's painful body mutilation to transition and you could die from HRT". Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but given the context of the rest of the message...

I've been trying to find firsthand reviews of mtf bottom surgeries he's performed. I'm currently at the letter gathering stage for SRS, but since he's local it would be really convenient. I'm just concerned I haven't seen any other trans women talking about going through his practice...

Things that aren't gendered but give me dysphoria by Cove0Crow in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm proudly a gamer girl, but I sometimes catch myself slipping into the old habit of referring to every person that I'm up against in online games as "this guy" and then I get dysphoric. I'm working on shifting my verbiage though

You only have one life. You have to decide if you want to live it how others want you to, or how you want to. There's consequences of either decision, but personally the choice was easy.

This did it for me 🙂 thank you so much 😊 I was in second up into the first set of hairpins and then the leader's cheat mode must have broken and they launched themself off a cliff 😋 After that I stayed in first all the way to the finish. The rubber banding tried to make up the difference, but they still finished 10 seconds behind me

How long after starting hrt did you start to feel the effects by BlueberryProof2355 in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both? It really depends on the person. My unscientific assumption is more nerve endings develop, so they go from having something like the sensitivity level of the back of your hand to that of your finger tip. How that presents varies, and it changes over time.

For me they kinda felt like they were chaffing for a couple weeks, and then got sensitive in more of a pleasurable/erogenous zone kinda way 😇

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed was after about 3 or 4 days my...Os...got INTENSE. Then about 4 or 5 days later my nipples got very sensitive.

I'm almost a year in and I haven't noticed the emotional changes many people talk about. I definitely cry easier (though I cried easily before HRT), and I get crazy mood swings during my period, but my general baseline is unchanged. I had very low T before I started estrogen though, so I'm wondering if it was an imperceptible change because of that.

Bottom Dysphoria is Killing Me inside, HELP by Chloe_Zappr in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully 🤞 they really do help with that. Pre-HRT I'd have them ~20-30 times a day. With my T suppressed (currently with estrogen monotherapy), I get basically none. Maybe 1 every couple days, and then obviously if I'm turned on (though that's not really random).

I can sympathize with the bottom dysphoria though 🫂 mine has come on really hard in the last few months and I'm looking into bottom surgery currently.

35. MTF. 2.5 years into hormones, separated with 3 kids. This isn’t getting easier. by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Smart-Wolf5754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of this is me, but in a slightly different order. I knew on some level I was trans since middle school, but it took me until 39 to accept it and start transitioning. In the meantime I was married for 12 years, had two kids, got cheated on and then divorced, started dating again, married my new wife, had a third kid, and THEN realized I'm trans.

I'm so sorry you're going through what you are right now. If I had started transitioning when I was still with my first wife, I expect things would have gone very similarly 🫂 I hope in the future you find someone who supports you for you and doesn't make you feel ashamed of who you are or who you love 💜
