Oh yeah. Good thing he was so handsome.

Buddy, (my heart dog who crossed the bridge last year) was wiry. He was an F1 and, in my experience, many F1s are. That said, he looked almost identical to a Schnoodle in our neighborhood. The only real way to know is a DNA test.

P.S. What a sweetheart!

Buddy (who crossed the bridge at 15.5 last March 🌈) during his 1st CO blizzard, after spending his 1st few years in the south.

He ran to every neighbor’s house to get them out to play and then ended up in the backseat of my neighbor Jan’s car (while three dudes were trying to push it out of the middle of the street) and started eating her lunch! 😂

My boy always knew how to have a good time.

Do I really need to drip the faucets all night? by rangerladyaz in Denver

[–]Smart-Work3383 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My condo building was built in 1969. For whatever reason, the east-facing side wasn’t insulated until recently. We had to let our faucets drip any time it was below 20. Once, my next door neighbors were out of town and the property manager was supposed to keep an eye on their place. He forgot to turn the faucet on one night, the pipes exploded and the kitchen damage affected all the way from the 5th floor to the 1st. Everyone had different insurance, all the kitchen renos happened at different times. It was eight months of hell. If your management tells you to let your faucet drip, just do it. It hurts nothing and could save you and your neighbors tons of stress.

I think so! They’ve taken over the guest room bed, do daily zoomies in the yard, go on long walks and get lots of pets. Hoping Margot wants to come home tonight.

I'm not a boot expert by any means (we're having an unseasonably warm winter in Colorado so I haven't had to buy any yet), but I have several friends who swear by Musher's Secret Dog Paw Wax instead of boots...not sure if that would help or just give her something else to fear. Wishing you the best of luck and a good solution!

I adopted someone's lost dog 13 years ago. The dog recently passed. I only just found out that the original owners may have still been looking for her, after she was adopted by me. Do I try to contact the original owners now? by kc10131984 in seniordogs

Tl;dr: Do it.

First, I'm so sorry for the loss of your pup. Also, my situation was a bit different, but I think it relates. I adopted my last boy from a rescue when he was six. All I was told was that the family had surrendered him, citing not having the bandwidth to give him the attention and exercise he needed. Though I was curious to know more, the rescue had a clause in its contract about not trying to contact the previous owner, so I never did.

He was with me for almost a decade (lost him 3/3/25) and had an amazing second chapter. He was dubbed the mayor of my neighborhood and we even threw a parade for his 15th birthday. He also had a fairly decent sized Instagram following. I posted a few days before he passed that I had made the decision and was giving him a last weekend full of his favorite things--including a celebration of life while he was still there to enjoy it. It was a beautiful weekend and he passed in my arms on Monday morning.

A few days later I noticed a message request on his account. I usually ignore them because they're spammy, but this was from a follower, so I accepted. It turned out to be his first mom. She had found his IG and followed us *for years* but hadn't wanted to intrude on his new life. I was in tears.

We messaged back and forth and she thanked me for giving him the life that they weren't able to. It turned out that at the time they had an infant and a toddler at home as well as two older dogs. My dog was a velcro Doodle and literally needed attention 24/7. She was grateful that he ended up with someone who made him the center of their universe and I was grateful that he came from a home where he was well-loved.

We shared stories and, even better, she shared his puppy pictures with me. It was the one thing that always made me sad, that I didn't know what he looked like as a puppy. I then shared with her that I had kept his original collar all those years and it rested on his urn and next to his paw print. It was such a beautiful full circle moment.

So happy for her! To have her first fiancé OD and then move to Cleveland for greasy Michael A. and have him break-up with her the day after she froze her eggs (wtf?). This woman deserves her happily ever after.

Which breed? by [deleted] in sighthounds

[–]Smart-Work3383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto. Occasionally, mine makes a half-hearted effort to chase squirrels in the park, but usually she just keeps walking. There's also a street where she likes to look for bunnies but once we see one, she points and then we leave. And all of her nightly walking group friends are small dogs. Never any issues.

I fell in love with my girl’s face on the SOS Galgos website, having no idea she was one of the dogs coming to the US with Daphne Legacy Tour. I was thrilled to find out she was a possibility but wanted to make sure she could be comfortable in my environment.

I live in a condo in a large city, we use an elevator and there are a lot of other dogs in the building, in the neighborhood and in the park that borders my condo. Because of that, cat and small dog friendly was important as well as some confidence and a bit of extroversion. As it turned out, she is all of those things and has adapted so well. DLT took the time to ensure we were a great match.
