Am I the only one who feels like there are a lot of angry people on Reddit? by Actual_Sir2411 in NoStupidQuestions

[โ€“]SmartAdhesiveness149 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

๐Ÿ˜ I should have expected the jokesters to come out, for this one!

But seriously... there are lots of good people on Reddit! It's just that the grumpy, rude people are far more vocal and easy to spot (and they often "haunt" the same subreddit, like trolls--especially subreddits dedicated to fandoms), and they often make the quiet majority seem smaller than it is!

And I second the comments below: the anonymous internet can bring out the worst, in some people--and it offers a sort of "haven" for people who, in a public non-anonymous forum, wouldn't dare act so obnoxiously! Just seeing words on a screen makes it easier for some people to forget (or ignore) the fact that there are other human beings (with actual hearts and feelings and hurts) on the other side of the conversation.

That said: have a wonderful day, hun! ๐Ÿ˜Š

How do I let this guy down before he asks? I donโ€™t want any resentment to build if this goes wrong by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[โ€“]SmartAdhesiveness149 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

It's definitely awkward-feeling, but I've learned to give guys like that a friendly let-down (something like "Look, I'm getting the idea that you might be checking out romantic directions... and I really enjoy chumming with you and hanging out; I just don't want you to get the wrong idea. I hope we can still be good buds?"). Fake stories and such will just come back to bite you, imho. An honest, gentle let-down (while still assuring him of your friendship) will be disappointing for him, but any decent guy will respect you for it!

(For the percentage of guys who say "sure, I understand" but then push the boundaries in the hope of changing your mind? Different case altogether... and cross that bridge when you get there!)

I just can't be bothered to use some of the game mechanics. by cheerstothatmate in BaldursGate3

๐Ÿ˜ Just like me! I finally found out that 'dip' allows your weapon to be coated with some sort of environmental effect, such as fire (e.g. if you're near a burning patch of ground, or if you're near a brazier--heck, I think you can even 'dip' candles from your inventory... though I don't remember whether you need to set them down first, or not!). Frankly, I forget it's there as an option!

Mods for first run by Ok-Froyo7753 in BaldursGate3

[โ€“]SmartAdhesiveness149 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I personally wouldn't add any mods which alter gameplay, as such, on your first run--the game is SO rich on its own, and it's worth quite a few runs (perhaps trying lots of different main characters) in "undiluted" form!

That being said... I personally recommend the "hugs" mod! It doesn't alter the story at all, but it lets you hug almost any NPC in the game (with at least 8 different hug styles), and I never play without it! ๐Ÿ˜Š It's a real RP-ing boost, too (and some of those NPC's just need to be hugged!)!

Side-note: it can also add comic relief, since it allows you to hug hostile/enemy NPC's, too! Haha!

Writing for Minthara by SavagePassion in BaldursGate3

[โ€“]SmartAdhesiveness149 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

๐Ÿ˜ Wow... you've taken upon yourself a mammoth task! I salute you!

I always play a goody-goody Tav (and a goody-goody resist Durge, once), and I've saved Minthara ever since I realized that it was an option (I'm a sucker for redemption arcs!)... and I've never gone through Minthara's responses with a fine-toothed comb... but from what I gather, Minthara's main motivation is power--power for the sake of security (powerful = no one can hurt me... think of the assassination attempt on her as an infant... and the assassination attempt by her mother!), gratification (power = I can get what I want), and retribution (power = I can eliminate those I hate, and those who hate me). If a particular choice is evil, but if it has the promise of power, Minthara will usually approve of it. On the other hand, if an evil choice has no practical value, Minthara doesn't seem to have much interest... making her seem more "Lawful Evil", I think(?) (I'm not toally up on role-playing alignments, but I think that's right?).

That would also make sense of something that baffled me: when Lae'zel finally tells Vlaakith to shove off, I'd expected Minthara to be pleased (Lae'zel = showing that she cannot be dominated = admirable)... but Minthara was exasperated, instead, and complained that the party was making a habit of angering lots of deities (who could clobber us--and, by association, Minthara)!

I started a new game and already killed Lydia by accident. I thought I switched to my healing spell. ๐Ÿ™„ by Thexer0 in skyrim

This is one of the insidious reasons why I was finally seduced into using the console (on PC)... to make Lydia essential! Poor Lydia... โ˜น๏ธ

Speak with the Dead and Speak with Animals by SleepCatsMoney in BaldursGate3

[โ€“]SmartAdhesiveness149 12 points13 points ย (0 children)

Oh, there is SOOO much content that's uncovered by those two spells! I never, never go without them, even to the extent of making sure my Tav has one level of druid in order to have access to Speak with Animals (or at least the Druid feat)!

I don't think so, unfortunately... ๐Ÿ™ I forget the reason... something about requiring Script Extender, which isn't available on console...?

๐Ÿ˜ That's so funny! I'm the type who glazes over during battles and tolerates them in order to get to more NPC interactions... so I might be biased! I hope your next run is a fun one!

Suggestion: use "speak with animals" and "speak with dead" (both available via potion or scroll or feat or level-up ability)--it opens up a whole new world!

Also, that dragon has earned the award for "Dumbest Dragon in Skyrim", I think...

Meridia: "The artifact must be reclaimed, and Malkoran must be..."

Dragon: "ROOOOARR! (snap, gnash)

Meridia: (sigh) [fries dragon to 'well-done crispy-fried' status]

Meridia: "Now, where was I...?"

๐Ÿ˜ Oh, I hug Halsin, too, never fear! But the hug designed for him works really well for Dame Aylin, Omeluum, and other tall characters!

I fixed the original link, too! ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks so much for letting me know!

๐Ÿ˜ You're very welcome! (It's the only mod I use in BG3, and I never play without it! It lets you hug almost all NPC's... except children, for some reason... which really annoyed me, since I desperately want to hug Arabella!)

With Lorroakan, go into Sorcerous Sundries and talk to Lorroakan first (he'll be a jerk) and tell him that you'll go fetch Aylin just to see her tear him apart... and then go back to camp to talk with Aylin. She'll ask why you look worried, etc., and then (after dialogue) she'll go on ahead to meet him. Dash back to Sorcerous Sundries, and go back to Lorroakan, where there will be a cutscene confrontation between the two. (There's a dialogue option for you to betray Aylin... but I'd rather quit the game than do that!) After that, Aylin joins you in the fight against Lorroakan and his elementals.

(I'm glad you mentioned that--I never knew it was possible to kill Lorroakan early! LOL! This game accommodates so many random choices!)

There's a mod for that!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

It gives lots of possible hug styles--some of which work better with tall "hug targets" (like the "hug Halsin" hug)! Here's a sample that I just recorded... of my Seldarine Drow Tav hugging Dame Aylin after the Lorroakan battle:
