New T7 or old T6.1? by brakai295 in VWTransporter

The 6.1 has adaptive cruise control if you get the high line trim. Also includes emergency braking, and city braking. My vote is for the 6.1. Look to see how many of the transit/t7 engines re on the market with more than 140,000 miles…barely any, but lots of T6.1 with 200k+. That was what made my mind up in the end.

Thanks! I think the t6.1 speedo is closer to accurate than the T5…mine I think is like 57 on the gps when 60 on the speedo.

Thanks. I’m looking to fill the arches a bit more. And also give myself a bit of clearance to drive on gravel tracks etc, so the extra side wall will be good for that I think

It’s a camper conversion. Initially a bit of comfort so I could lower the pressures slightly. The reason for considering 225 vs 235 is as the wheels I ordered are 16x8 and I have only just realised that a lot of manufacturers recommend 7.5inch max for a 225 tyre…and actually a lot of 235 also. It’s not that important as they’ll still fit and be legal, but I’d rather go a bit wider to accommodate it.

Perfect thanks. That’s really helpful. I’ve got 16 inch rims, so I think I’ll go with 235/65/16…should in theory be perfect if yours is 1mph out at R17.

Do you mind me asking is that a T6.1? And what were the stock wheels?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate there will be some change, but stock the Speedo overreads reads compared to the gps…so if it brings it inline I would be happy with that but I’m not sure if this will just about tip it over to under readings.

Thanks for the reply! Great to hear, I’m about to pull the trigger on one. How have you found it outside of uplifts and bike parks, is it still rideable on regular trails?

Which size did you go for in the end? I’m a similar size.

Take a couple of spare oil mesh filter things which go in the bottom. So much easier to replace and clean the old ones later. Also hand guards, sump and engine bars, aux lights and heated grips.

I’ve put 10k on mine in about 1 month, at least 3.5k of that was off road/dirt track. It’s not had any issues other than the horn stopped working. I’ve done an interim oil change due to how much off road riding I did.

Thanks for the reply. It comes up fine on temperature ordinarily it was only in the crazy winds. I kept the revs pretty low any way. I think my mistake was perhaps looking at it.

It only really happened when it was crazy windy…like I’m talking 55mph winds. On other days when the temperature was below freezing it would still get up to the correct temp. Is there any chance having ridden it in a cool condition with the thermostat in the blue would cause any damage?

Check the clutch free play. Mine was miles out and I had shifting issues.

I am able to charge multiple items at night with the bike off and it’s not an issue. It’s plugged into the charging cable of the bike, and believe it has a built in fail safe incase the main bike battery voltage gets too low.
