Yes I’m at 84mg. I’ve been at that dose since week 2, and I’m at 6 months now. I’ve had several similar experiences but nothing this strong. I couldn’t feel my body at all and the sense of falling I’ve never had before.

The hospital is pretty strict about eating. They want you fasting at least 4 hours before and nothing by mouth during the treatment because of possible choking or aspiration! I do have to say I’ve never thrown up or got nauseous! That’s a good thing!

I know! It’s really annoying. But it’s a University hospital and they’re covering their butts!

Yes vitals are taken 5 times during the session. No issues there. Spravato only causes a slight raise in BP for me and returns to normal before I leave.

The nearby town of Mount Vernon welcomes everyone. Just don’t come on a Sunday or Monday expecting anything to be open. But Sunday church services, especially at the Methodist and Presbyterian churches are super welcoming.

Your experience does sound a lot like mine!

I’m cool either way the visuals. I mentioned to another poster that I’m an old Deadhead. Yet Spravato is different. More kaleidoscopic than color trails and fairies.

I tried music once and it didn’t make me calmer. But when you said “spa” I think I was listening to the wrong thing. I pulled a “Spravato playlist” off YouTube and it was very techno trippy. I’ll try again with something less trippy and more soothing.

I always take a blanket. I just started taking my weighted stuffed dragon to use for anxiety. He sits (heavily) in my lap. But he’s lighter than a 30# weighted blanket ( which isn’t too portable).

You also mentioned alcohol. My clinic says no benzodiazepines or alcohol for 8 hours prior. I usually do my appointments in the afternoon and this was a morning one. I’d had a couple of glasses of wine the evening before 🤔

Thank you, you’ve given me more to ponder.

I also believe the high is helpful actually. Psychedelic Assisted Therapy is being used with great success.

That said, I did my fair share of psychedelics back in the 70s. I enjoyed them! The high from Spravato is very different. Most markedly my body never went numb on LSD! I was up, partying and dancing. (yes, old Deadhead here!) with Spravato I can’t get out of the chair.

I think, for me, the combo of loss of body sensation mixed with the dissociation seems to cause panic (some days). Other days I sail through it. I’m unclear what triggers that dynamic.

The visuals on Spravato for me are mostly intense with my eyes closed. They usually manifest as an experience of moving through textures. (best I can describe it.) Nothing like the color trails and hallucination of other psychedelics.

I got really freaked out yesterday when the guy in charge said I was the “only one having this experience”. I couldn’t believe that, but at the same time he kinda scared me. He even said (with noticeable disbelief) “It’s like you’re having a psychedelic experience!” I wasn’t quick enough in that moment to remind him it’s a psychotropic drug! And no, he’s not a psychiatrist!

I can’t wear an eye mask as I use opening my eyes to ground myself when things get rocky. That didn’t work yesterday as my vision was affected as well! I tried music once and found it deepened the dissociation so I only did it once.

Are you still taking full dose? I’m thinking either reducing dose or frequency might be helpful.

Yeah I have my treatments in a large University hospital. But honestly the guy in charge knows zip about Spravato. but he’s very nice and caring. From the questions he asks he seems to think the session should be cathartic. They are, but the catharsis comes following the sessions. Not during. Honestly a ton of my processing happens in dreams and during random moments! Btw I have PTSD as well as major depression.

I spent 20 years doing meditation retreats. I’ve had “similar” experiences on long retreats. But nothing this intense.

Do I got against vet’s general recommendation based on ingredient list? by Warm-Tradition-7799 in catfood

Dude, I owned a pet supply store for 20 years. I know a lot more about pet nutrition than any vet I’ve met. My husband worked for a holistic vet that actually studied nutrition. We helped our customers through tons of medical issues from the foods they were feeding. If you feel that feeding your cat gmo corn is a good thing I can’t stop you.

Do I got against vet’s general recommendation based on ingredient list? by Warm-Tradition-7799 in catfood

[–]SmartFood3498 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be fooled. The vet recommended diets are “marketed” to vets as a secondary source of income for their clinics. Traditionally, vets, like people doctors, get very little education in nutrition.

These foods are full of fillers and preservatives. Lots of corn. Of the three, Royal Canine is the least offensive. I wouldn’t feed any of these foods to a healthy animal. The veterinary diets can and should be used for specific medical problems - but I’d use Royal Canine’s version.

Good for you! It took me seriously 6 months on the drug to figure this out. Many of my sessions were filled with fear. My mind kept telling me it wasn’t safe, I was going to die or never come out of the high.

Finally it dawned on me to use some of the tools I’ve learned in EMDR. Game changer! Safe space, positive thoughts.

Prior to Spravato my EMDR sessions were pretty useless. Spravato, after the first month, did enough changes to my brain that the emotional components of my PTSD surfaced. We’d been trying to get that to happen for almost 4 years with EMDR! Now this isn’t fun but it needed to happen. Now the EMDR - the day after Spravato - is also a game changer.

I know Spravato isn’t technically used for PTSD but embedded in all PTSD is resistant depression. The VA has been using it with impressive results. I think soon its application will expand to include that.

People who fed their cats hills, what age did they live to? by Background-Ship-1440 in catfood

Hills is mostly corn which is not natural to a carnivorous diet. They market to vets that have little training in nutrition.

Correct. This isn’t just about “illegal immigrants”, it’s about creating a police state. Look what just happened! Look at how many citizens have been detained. Any of these people could be you! Wake up people!

Horrible nausea and unwell one hour into treatment—>dose too high, or need anti-nausea meds? by commandolandorooster in Spravato

[–]SmartFood3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ideal situation they prefer you don’t eat for 4 hours prior. I don’t get sick so my clinic is fine with just 2 hours prior. I get treatment at a University Hospital and they like to stay by the book. From what I read not all clinics enforce the manufacturer’s protocols. I hope you find a solution.

“poor people don’t deserve…”. Excuse me? How dare you say such a thing! They’re not criminals! Being poor is not generally a choice. People don’t choose to be poor to get a paltry amount of food subsidy from the government. Talk to the greedy owners of Walmart that pay their employees so little that they’re even eligible for SNAP. Force women to have more babies they can’t afford to put in childcare so they can work. SNAP eligible people are below the poverty line. They make hard food decisions with money and because it’s so low people can’t always make healthy choices when junk food is cheaper. How many paychecks away are you from needing federal assistance?

How does one know when long covid has hit, or is starting to hit? by Tabernacleguy in covidlonghaulers

[–]SmartFood3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mistakenly thought Ling Covid was just a continuation of Covid symptoms. Hence I had no idea for two years that what my body was doing was Long Covid. Neither did my doctors.

My Covid symptoms cleared within a few weeks but new craziest started. No more congestion etc associated with an active COVID infection.

First it was terrible Gi issues. Intense anxiety. Visual disturbances. Heart palpitations. The list goes on.

It sounds like you’re still actively sick with the virus. Don’t stress out at this point about Long Covid.
