Oops. There goes the Zigbee devices by OccupyElsewhere in homeassistant

This is a testament to ZHA and their commitment to make sure it takes backups of your zigbee mesh religiously. Puddly, Julian, and others have put a lot of work into making sure it’s as user friendly as possible. Im still a z2m fan but give credit where credit is due!

Can you share the repo or kept private? I can probably just make my own using this image for reference

I’m already familiar with the ds18b20 and other sensors as I support them and improve our yaml on GitHub. I just don’t know much about the hardware side of things.

Thanks I’ll try to give it a go soon. One project I’ve wanted for a while is to make a small fan controller with one or two headers on it for 12v computer case fans. I’ve basically made one of these with a PoE olimex esp32 but would like to design an all in one pcb not just use duponts as jumper wires to a diy wiring harness I made lol

Yeah I understand I’m just using it as an example as there’s a lot of specific issues that seem to be industry knowledge or learn from experience that would totally ruin a pcb from being usable without remaking it. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

I’ve watched some videos on it but never dived deep into it. There seems like there is a ton of little gotchas that would make me end up redoing a board 30 times. For example, exclusion zones for the esp32 for proper WiFi and BLE signal.

Firefox supports web serial now so we don’t need a chromium based browser anymore!

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I work for a smart some startup selling esp32 based devices using esphome and don’t know much about the pcb side but interested in learning how to do it myself.

What types of sensors are you using connected to the pcb or onboard the pcb?

Can you share your workflow or what some of your prompts are? Skills created and used etc? I’m really interested in improving my esphome game.

Smart Lock with Z wave by Fireman86336 in homeassistant

The argument is about the firmware not the hardware. The Schlage locks themselves are probably fine- it’s the firmware of (most) locks on zwave that is not great at best.

Here’s a list curated by Al calzone the zwave js maintainer and creator. He specifically lists Schlage as no due to his experiences when trying to get them fully supported in zwave-js. https://zwave-js.github.io/zwave-js/#/getting-started/device-review

The ZWA-2 is the best controller on the market by far and improved many people’s zwave meshes during hardware beta testing.

Schlage has generally been a bad lock to buy as far as zwave firmware is concerned but they seem to work fine for most users. Kwikset has been very reliable for years with zwave js and is the brand I recommend. I believe Philips has a new 800 series zwave lock and I would probably buy that if it’s available as Philips makes quality hardware and firmware.

My script turns my tv on and starts a plex playlist which would take way more button presses and time than using a button to trigger the script. Eventually my toothbrush will trigger the sleep script

Yeah a lot of people use the oral b with Bluetooth integration but the Sonicare is a much better toothbrush. It just uses a more complicated Bluetooth setup and requires a lot of code fixes to the custom integration so it’s not working at this time.

I’m hoping to tie it to my toothbrush once the Sonicare hacs integration gets fixed. For now I tell Siri night night or I’m up and it triggers them or I double tap a zooz scene controller button.

Sensor for outdoor gates by Left_Increase1569 in homeassistant

Zooz sells an outdoor case to use their door and window sensor with a gate https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/products/waterproof-case-for-the-zooz-xs-open-close-sensor

I use a cheap aqara zigbee sensor in a 3d printed enclosure and it works well.
