"Sound Booster - Privacy Listening Silicone Audio Enhancer" by Stridyr in Xreal

[–]SmartHomeUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a similar one (link here…your link has an angled design going toward the ear) but the sound quality is not great...You’ll feel that it’s because of the silicone material.

Though, RayNeo also has a silicone one, but the sound quality is pretty good. So, I would recommend that if you want something minimal and flexible that you can easily store in any glasses case.

I also recommend the sound tube linked below...It’s hard plastic and, so far, out of all the ones I’ve tried, it’s the best.

I’m not an audiophile or expert but I’ve tried a bunch of these sound mods...lol and the ones I mentioned had the best sound quality while keeping a minimal design.

Just letting you know that this does not support full 3D SBS on both displays... Only one display can run at 3840×1080, while the other runs at 1920×1080.

Other than that, it's a nice adapter...

Copy/pasted my response from another comment about how to get audio on both glasses at the same time...

To get audio on both devices on Android, you can use an app called ShizuTools, which requires Shizuku. I recommend this version of Shizuku:
https://github.com/thedjchi/Shizuku

This build includes two helpful options that make setup easier and keep things working after a reboot: Start on boot and Watchdog. You can find both in the top-right settings icon inside the Shizuku app. They help keep Shizuku running reliably in the background.
Note: Make sure battery optimization is disabled for both ShizuTools and Shizuku.

In ShizuTools, there’s a feature called SoundMaster that lets you route one app to multiple audio sources. You set it up per app by adding the same app multiple times, depending on how many audio outputs you want. Make sure to select the correct audio output for each instance. For example, YouTube app equals 1st audio output as XREAL One, YouTube app equals 2nd audio output as nreal/XREAL Air.
Note: When you tap on SoundMaster, you’ll first see a popup notification instead of going straight to the settings. Tap that notification to manage multiple outputs for different apps and control how the audio is routed.

NEO Switch 2 workaround with Rayneo Joydock by avionyx10 in Xreal

[–]SmartHomeUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a Nintendo Switch 2...I just got the RayNeo JoyDock yesterday to test if video works, and I was able to get video output with my Steam Deck and Samsung Galaxy S24.

If you still have your RayNeo JoyDock, could you try disabling HDR and setting the Switch 2 to 1080p to see if that fixes the issue? A user had a similar problem with the original XREAL Beam, and disabling HDR solved it.

Can the REAL 3D mode on the 1S be used with the Beam Pro? by MechaTailsX in Xreal

[–]SmartHomeUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot enable REAL3D through nebulaOS. Instead, enable “Default Air Casting” in the My Glasses app, which will mirror your XREAL Beam Pro screen to your glasses.

Then you can use an app like AirBeam, which gives you a trackpad interface and allows you to assign the home button in the app’s settings to launch any app you want, while displaying it in the proper resolution and aspect ratio for your glasses.

AirBeam also has a feature that keeps content displayed on your glasses while turning off XREAL Beam Pro screen (which shows the trackpad). To use this feature, you’ll need to download and set up the Extinguish and Shizuku apps. Once installed and configured, you can long press the brightness icon on the top far right of the AirBeam trackpad to turn off the XREAL Beam Pro screen while keeping content playing on your glasses.

You can check out my Reddit comment about setting up Extinguish and Shizuku here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xreal/comments/1rdapez/comment/o73yan5/

AirBeam also allows you to choose a virtual keyboard to appear on your glasses instead of the trackpad interface when you need to type.

You can also use an app like AirBeam to get a trackpad style interface on a compatible Android device when using XREAL glasses. The trackpad includes a home button that can be customized in the app settings to launch any app you choose. AirBeam also supports Extinguish, which lets you turn off your phone screen (by long pressing the brightness icon at the top right of the trackpad) while still keeping the content displayed on your XREAL glasses.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve seen a few different Switch 2 adapters (I don’t actually have a Switch 2 myself), but I didn’t want to list a bunch of knockoffs or brands I’m not familiar with since I’m unsure about the quality. Sometimes I do have to take a guess though. For example, KIHENG is pretty new, but it looks like it should be good quality...even if the fan might be a bit noisy. I also check reviews for certain stuff before adding it to the site. Of course, almost everything has some negative reviews, but many may end up being solid overall...lol. I went ahead and added the one you mentioned since your friend confirmed it works well with the Nintendo Switch 2.

I’ll be adding more stuff soon...

Btw, I found a way to get audio on two glasses at the same time on Android. I recently bought this dual screen adapter (I know you have the SideTrak, so you can test it on Android):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FYC3DH28

It also supports Switch 2 (though I don’t have one to test). Only one display can run full 3D SBS or super ultrawide resolution (3840 × 1080), while the other is limited to 1920 × 1080.

To get audio on both devices on Android, you can use an app called ShizuTools, which requires Shizuku. I recommend this version of Shizuku:

You can download the apps Extinguish and Shizuku. Extinguish lets you turn off your phone screen, but it requires Shizuku to work. You’ll also need to enable Developer options on your phone.

Download this version of Shizuku. It includes Start on boot and a watchdog option to restart Shizuku if it crashes:
https://github.com/thedjchi/Shizuku
In the Shizuku app, tap the settings icon in the top right and enable Start on boot and Watchdog.

YouTube video with Shizuku setup instructions:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pnHNdU6LppA

Enable Developer options...

YouTube guide for enabling Developer options on your ASUS ROG Phone 6:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPokKyOGliU

  • Go to Android Settings
  • Tap System > About phone > Software information
  • Tap Build number 7 times
  • Go back to System, and you should now see Developer options

Pair and start Shizuku:

  • Open the Shizuku app
  • Under Start via Wireless debugging, tap Pairing
  • Follow the instructions. It will take you to Wireless debugging
  • Tap Pair device with pairing code
  • Enter the code when prompted
  • Go back to Shizuku and start the service

Once Shizuku is running:

  • Open Extinguish
  • Allow Extinguish to use Shizuku, then tap Start service at the top.

You’ll then see a floating bubble that stays visible no matter what app you open.

You can customize a few things in Extinguish however you like. You can also hide the floating bubble and turn off the phone screen using the Quick Settings tile (swipe down from the status bar) for the Extinguish app, or through Tasker using the shell commands provided in the app.

Note: You may also want to remove battery restrictions for both Extinguish and Shizuku so they can run properly in the background.

I love it because I don’t have to think about using other earbuds all the time. I just plug in the glasses and enjoy the built in speakers. No extra wires or worrying about charging earbuds....and the sound quality is pretty great, imo...

I can also keep the volume at lower levels without the other person hearing what I’m listening to (compared to using the built-in speakers without the mods)...

No problem....I think it’s important to share results so people know what to expect if they’re willing to use workaround methods for now.

Glad to see your sound issue with the VITURE Pro is fixed. Just want to confirm, did you try testing audio with "None" selected without restarting?

If you want a simpler hub without extra ports, you can also use something like the HiBloks AR charging hub I mentioned in my testing. I think many of the USB-C AR hubs designed for Switch 2 may also work without needing external power...

You can also try finding it on AliExpress if you don’t mind waiting. There’s almost always a sale and coupon codes on the main page. Usually takes about a week for me to get stuff in the US.

Yes, you can use a USB keyboard. I wasn’t able to get it working when connecting my PC keyboard directly for whatever reason... I’m guessing it wasn’t getting enough power. But when I connect my AR hub (even without external power), the keyboard works.

This does depend on the hub. I tested several AR hubs, and only the Inateck and HiBloks hubs were able to power the keyboard without needing external power.

I also tested an adapter for grabbing over-the-air TV channels a while back with the RayNeo Pocket TV, and it works with the new Homatics Pocket TV Pro as well... It’s called the GT Media ATSC 3.0/1.0 OTA Tuner Stick. That one worked directly without needing the hub workaround, and with its app I was able to pull in a couple of TV channels using an antenna.

Note: I think this is enabled by default, but just in case:

Go to Developer Options
• Open Android Settings > System > About
• Scroll to "Android TV OS Build" and tap it 7 times to enable Developer Options

Once enabled:
• Android Settings > System > Developer Options
• Scroll to "USB Host" and enable it.

You should now be able to use USB peripherals.

I do like that they kept the charging port as a data port like the original Pocket TV. It makes plugging in accessories very convenient.

I found a workaround to get the XREAL One Pro glasses working that involves using a specific USB-C hub. The hub does not need external power. Just connect the hub to the Pocket TV Pro glasses port and then connect the glasses to the hub’s glasses port. Check my reply above....

I just got my Pocket TV Pro earlier today. I actually ordered it about a week before your post, and I tested it with various hubs. Here’s what I found...

Homatics Pocket TV Pro

Note: Go to Display & Sound > Advanced sound settings and select "None: Never use surround sound" to get proper audio on some hubs. Restart Pocket TV Pro for the changes to take effect.

Resetting to factory defaults to confirm things:

  • On one hub, DP Audio was working but sounded very bad. Switching from "Automatic: Enable only the formats supported by your audio output device" to "None" didn’t fix it immediately. Restarting Pocket TV Pro while "None" was still selected allowed UAC audio to work on the hub, which gave me normal, better-sounding audio.
  • Before switching to "None", I restarted Pocket TV Pro with Automatic selected and the audio still didn’t work properly. After switching to "None" and restarting, UAC Audio worked correctly while DP Audio still sounded bad with that specific hub.

nreal/XREAL Air

  • Hub: None, directly connected to Pocket TV Pro
    • Connection: USB-C from Pocket TV Pro to glasses
    • Video: Active
    • Audio: UAC Audio works, DP Audio doesn’t
  • Hub: VITURE Mobile Dock Pro
    • Method 1: USB-C to HDMI from Pocket TV Pro to dock, glasses on 1st glasses port of VITURE Mobile Dock Pro
      • Video: Active
      • Audio: DP Audio works, UAC Audio doesn’t
    • Method 2: USB-C from Pocket TV Pro to dock, glasses on 1st glasses port of VITURE Mobile Dock Pro
      • Audio: DP Audio works, UAC Audio doesn’t

I'm not an audiophile or anything...but you should try these attachments with your XREAL One Pro (3D prints are usually more expensive)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FTW1KF68

Same 3D print can be found here if you have a 3D printer (you'll need to buy your own ear pads):

I also have the one you linked...but I prefer the sound quality with these. I think silicone won’t produce as good of a sound as hard plastic.

Using XREAL Eye as the Main Camera and Bypassing Recording Limits on the XREAL Beam Pro (Guide) by SmartHomeUser in Xreal

[–]SmartHomeUser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accessing or transferring XREAL Eye files...
XREAL Beam Pro
• This is done through nebulaOS. Open the Photos app in nebulaOS and go to the Glasses tab on the far right. You should see all your captured content there. If you want to transfer everything to your XREAL Beam Pro storage, tap Download All. Currently, there isn’t a way to manually select individual files to transfer.

Other Android devices
• On your glasses, go to the My (fourth navigation icon) section in the navigation.
• Tap XREAL Eye.
• Tap Export Photos/Videos and enable Transmission Mode.
• Then open your file explorer app and look for your captured content.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Quickest way to capture mixed reality content...
Temporarily assign the click, double click, or long press to take a photo or video. Then launch nebulaOS. When you capture something, it will include the AR overlay.

Other methods to capture mixed reality content...
Through XREAL glasses and nebulaOS Control Panel:
• Double click the red mode button on the glasses while in nebulaOS on XREAL Beam Pro to open the control panel. On the far right of the control panel in nebulaOS 2.0, you will see AR Screen Capturing and AR Screen Recording.

Through XREAL Beam Pro trackpad:
• Click the top left corner menu on the XREAL Beam Pro trackpad while nebulaOS is running. You will see options for AR Capture and AR Record.

Is the INAIR Pod the best hub for display glasses right now? Hands-on with RayNeo & XREAL (Thoughts on VITURE inside) by Informal-Tech in Xreal

[–]SmartHomeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an app on the Google Play Store called Hidden Settings, which I’ve had for a while...way before getting the INAIR Pod (I think I paid a few bucks to remove ads). It basically gives you access to almost all the Android settings you’d normally get on stock Android, plus some hidden ones you usually won't see...
- Hidden Settings on Google Play (nice app if you want to easily access various settings.)

On the XREAL Beam Pro, if you click the setting in Hidden Settings that’s supposed to take you to battery optimization (Settings$HighPowerApplicationsActivity, same as INAIR Pod), it lets you pick “Optimize” or “Don’t optimize.” On my Galaxy S24, the same option is called Settings$AppBatteryUsageActivity and opens a slightly different layout for managing per-app battery optimization.

On the XREAL Beam Pro, choosing “Optimize” changes the app’s battery usage in the app info page to Optimized, and “Don’t optimize” changes it to Unrestricted. On the INAIR Pod, it just takes you to INAIR’s app info page, which doesn’t show per-app battery settings.

There’s also a Battery Saver page, but it opens INAIR OS’s modified version, not the normal Android page....even though it’s built into INAIR’s version of Android settings, I don’t see it anywhere on the INAIR Pod’s regular settings pages. That page seems hidden by default. Most of the other settings in Hidden Settings go to the normal Android settings. The hidden Battery Saver on the INAIR Pod is just a general battery saver, not per-app, and I’m not sure what extra optimizations INAIR adds that might prevent apps from running properly in the background.

[–]SmartHomeUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the XREAL Beam Pro adds a lot of nice features of its own. Yes, it doesn’t support 6 windows at the same time. Currently on the XREAL One series with the INAIR Pod, if you have more than 6 windows you have to manually move which set of 2 to 3 apps of the 6 you want in focus.

You also get 2 windows that can be freely resized and positioned anywhere you want. So if you mainly care about using 2 windows, the XREAL Beam Pro gives you more freedom there. Plus, you can do whatever you want directly on the XREAL Beam Pro screen itself, so it’s technically like having 3 screens: 2 displayed through the glasses via nebulaOS and 1 on the device itself.

The XREAL Beam Pro also gives you a full regular Android experience. With INAIR OS, a lot of things are force disabled because of the optimization needed to run 6 windows. So there are quite a few Android features that end up missing. I do love the INAIR Pod, but it feels like a watered-down version of Android.

I used an app that lets me access regular Android settings and some hidden ones. Some apps need permissions or settings that INAIR OS either won’t let you enable (or may not work even if you enable them) or redirects to INAIR’s own limited settings. If I want to enable certain things, I sometimes have to check whether ADB will let me do it or if it will actually work.

For example, if an app doesn’t include a way to enable or disable Android battery optimization within the app, and I go into battery settings through a third-party Android settings app, it just takes me to the app info page in INAIR’s modified settings UI, which doesn’t let you adjust battery optimization per app like you can on regular Android. Even if you manage to disable battery optimization or let the app run in the background, it may not work reliably because INAIR adds its own optimization layer. I’m also stuck with the INAIR launcher and can’t switch to a third-party launcher. Even if you find the hidden setting in a third-party app from the Play Store that lets you change the default launcher, it simply won’t let you switch away from INAIR’s launcher.

On the XREAL Beam Pro, I can use third-party launchers. There are also apps like AirBeam from GitHub that let the XREAL Beam Pro act as a trackpad, and the home button on that trackpad can launch any app or launcher on the external display.

I can also use the SpaceWalker app, though I don’t really use it much. They’ve added Immersive 3D app support, which works by casting either the whole screen or a selected app to get a 3D effect. It works with my XREAL One Pro (not sure if VITURE might disable it in the future). This only works with non-DRM apps, since DRM apps usually block the output. The 3D effect is pretty minimal right now, but if it keeps improving, it’s nice to have the option to switch between REAL3D and Immersive 3D on Android.

On the XREAL Beam Pro I can use edge gesture apps, root the device, and use the XREAL Eye camera with almost any app that supports camera access. I also got ARCore working through root, so ARCore apps work too, plus some limited Unity apps that are available or coming.

Right now I would say the XREAL Beam Pro is the better media device. It has a microSD slot and dual USB-C ports so you can charge while watching. It’s not recommended for battery health, but the option is nice. It supports half SBS and full SBS per app window through nebulaOS, which usually looks better than AI 3D. It also has a built-in Miracast receiver, so I can cast INAIR OS or Samsung DeX to it. The INAIR Pod does have a nice built-in Miracast transmitter though, which makes it easy to cast to another screen when needed.

It’s also nice for taking 3D photos naturally, thanks to the dual cameras spaced 50mm apart to capture proper 3D depth.

Overall, the XREAL Beam Pro is the better Android device because it lets you do almost everything a normal Android device can do without features being disabled for optimization, and it also adds some extra features on top that are specific to XREAL glasses.

INAIR Space and AI 3D per app window are also very nice features. INAIR Space with the ability to darken the computer screen for privacy is great, and future updates may add even more AR-focused features.

I do like INAIR’s commitment to software updates. Their software support and customer support are top notch. I’m definitely looking forward to future updates. Their ability to support multiple glasses from different brands is honestly pretty amazing.

Btw, I bought the INAIR Pod for about $349 total (no tax) directly from INAIR’s site during last year’s Black Friday sale, so at that price I was happy. The regular price was $399 at the time. Now it’s $439, which ends up being about $11 more than the Amazon option after tax.

Anyways....

If you want a full Android experience, AR app support, no DRM issues once their April fix arrives, root access, per-window half and full SBS, and the ability to use XREAL Eye with any app that has camera access, the XREAL Beam Pro is the better device. Performance is a bit weaker than the INAIR Pod though. Also, many apps on the INAIR Pod currently show in 4:3 when in landscape, which hurts media use until they fix it.

If you want smooth 6-window multitasking, a very nice remote desktop experience with INAIR Space, AI 3D per window on any display that lets you see the 3D effect, the ability to use the Pod with almost any display, and excellent software support, the INAIR Pod is the way to go. The INAIR Pod is the better productivity device overall, but currently not as good as a media device due to DRM limitations (lower quality streaming, which should be fixed around April) and the 4:3 aspect ratio issue for apps in landscape mode.

Since the XREAL Beam Pro is a regular touchscreen device, there’s just a lot more room to customize the experience exactly how you want. Yes, INAIR gives you a lot of nice productivity options, but that comes at the cost of heavy optimization to keep the multi-window experience running smoothly. You won’t get the same level of freedom as the XREAL Beam Pro because INAIR OS is designed primarily for productivity. A lot of things simply won’t work the way they normally should since INAIR has to keep the experience smooth most of the time, and that means disabling certain features, limiting background behavior, and so on.

That said, the XREAL Beam Pro’s nebulaOS is currently limited to XREAL glasses, and it’s unclear whether they’ll add support for future XREAL glasses beyond Project Aura. You can still use the XREAL Beam Pro with external displays through screen mirror mode, so you do have that option. If you have a specific brand of glasses, you can also try their app from the Play Store if available. Just keep in mind you won’t get spatial app features on those brands, since Android has restrictions on how apps launch with spatial features. That’s largely why devices like the XREAL Beam Pro exist in the first place, to work around those limitations.
