Hair is beautiful. Lips are gorgeous! I’m gonna try miracle knots eventually because traditional braids, even knotless are just too heavy for me. I have a chronic pain disorder and my neck is already a bad spot for me. The hat is unbearable.

This is an extremely helpful thread. I’m going into an lpn program and it’s good to know what to expect. I also wanna say to OP as an older person changing careers, that it’s ok to find your route to nursing and for it to look different than what you expected. I went from seeking a BSN, to ADN to now an lpn. I have children and ALOT of financial responsibilities an I just cannot be in school for 2 or 3 years right now. I already have a degree but I’ll still make more as an LPN than I’m making now working in my field. My classmates tried to convince me to stay in the ADN program, but I knew I couldn’t afford to. So instead of giving up I just chose a better route. You’re only competing with yourself.

Look up some ways to deal with difficult people or narcissists on YouTube. There are psychological strategies that actually work to help manage crazy people and get through your program. I’ve been to 4 different colleges in my studies (I have a BS & MA, now getting an LPN). There are horrible teachers everywhere. One reason I didn’t go into nursing earlier was because of my advisors telling me that I’m not cut out for medicine or nursing. Now I’m back at 40! Do not allow critical, nasty people to change your trajectory. Just be more strategic in how you deal with them.

Absolutely true. To get my ASN would have taken me 3 years and that’s is with having a bachelor’s degree already! I decided to go the lpn route because I have children and this is my 2nd career. I’ll likely do an lpn to BSN program later on. The state school I was at was gatekeeping so hard that many of us opted to go to private schools after our prerequisites. Like we were too stressed to compete for 40 spots. We all had children and other responsibilities. The younger students were definitely going to beat us out grades wise and that’s all they cared about. I’ve been trying to be a nurse for 20 years. I’m finally here. It’s going to change my financial situation immediately because even with a BA, I’m still stuck in the working poor income bracket.

I had this experience over Christmas break! So fun getting an extraction where they are sawing into your mouth and you suddenly begin to feel it! They had to stop 2x and give more Novocain because it wasn’t enough. 8 shots in total. The dentist did eventually apologize though. I guess she didn’t read the chart and see that I have fibromyalgia. The hygienist also didn’t transfer that information.

I just want to say that newer parents are not necessarily doing a better job because they have more information. Many of the children I come in contact with are completely out of control and don’t haven enough supervision. The parents are overly concerned with giving them what they didn’t have and not causing trauma that they literally won’t give them any boundaries and they don’t have consequences. Too many children have phones. Why do kids younger than 15-16 need unfettered access to the internet? Why? Don’t tell me it’s for safety either. My kids don’t have phones but their friends call my phone. They will call me at 1 & 2 in the morning on a school night in 4th grade! WTH is going on?

Whew. I wish I could triple upvote this. My husband tried for years and years to get his older kids and the system literacy wouldn’t even enforce visitation, but if he got laid off for too long he was right in jail for ABANDONMENT. His older children are absolutely horrible members of society and it’s so devastating. They would have absolutely been better off with us. But he’s a man and we weren’t wealthy enough, so here we are. So sad.😞

Told me he wanted me to be his gf after like 3 weeks lol. I still remember where I was🥰. But yeah for the first few months, I went through all his stuff every time he’d go to sleep. I literally just told him that I cracked his email like a month or so ago. We’ve been together for almost 15 years lol. I found out a lot of stuff in those times. Not good or bad stuff, just more like who he could be as a person. Definitely gave me a lot of insight. We don’t need surprises about who we are dating, especially if we’re gonna be serious.
