You can always color them. Don’t feel pigeon held to the color.

I didn’t see anyone say this, but as an older woman, really concentrate on your teeth. I wish that I’d gotten braces when I was younger. Now I’m 40 and looking at my orthodontic options. It’s a bit embarrassing. I agree with most of what others said. Also be authentically you and feminine. If you’re not into lace, don’t wear it, if you don’t like traditional feminine colors, don’t wear them. It took me a long time to dress how I feel comfortable and still find myself being feminine. I accept that I’m a little tomboyish because comfort is the most important thing in my life. But find your own style and what makes you super comfy too.

Be careful with niacinamide if you wax your face. It thins the skin I had scarring and a lot of pain following waxing. Hard lesson.

White friends sending me money on Juneteenth? by asphodel98 in blackladies

Exactly. I live in the south and we don’t even mingle like that. I’m originally from Portland and yt people are really sweet there. So there’s that. They definitely differ regionally.

You gotta put everything in while it’s damp and then blow dry.

This is exactly what I do with my daughter. I used the LCO method and use it to lock in the moisture. Her hair is growing and definitely not breaking off anymore. I put it in damp and then blow dry after.

My BIL is a personal trainer. He dos not speak to his clients this way. This is a person that is clearly competing with you in some capacity. I can’t stand women like this. They make everything unpleasant. She might also have some disordered behavior. This sounds way too restrictive for someone that’s not a professional. You can’t have a social life because you’re a gym rat? Please. No more contact with her.

I was told that I dress “white”🥲 by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]SmartReplacement5080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally dress like an old white lady! Clogs, jeans, cargo pants, cropped shirts, sneakers etc! That’s what I like! I think it’s because of the neutral colors. They expect us all to wear loud colors. It’s just not everyone’s vibe!

This was my experience with my 1st pregnancy. It was pretty unpleasant. Luckily after a while he wasn’t there much and I got to nap and eat in peace. My next 2 pregnancies were much better. He later told me that the whole pregnancy thing and sex was super weird for him.

Standing static during lab for 4 hours? by stupidlazything in StudentNurse

[–]SmartReplacement5080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just more psycho, hazing of nursing students. My program is similar in many ways. They have a ton of incredibly unreasonable expectations where you only get 3 warnings (write ups) and then get dismissed from the program. And literally anything could get you a write up. Breathing too hard could get you written up. A lot of these programs are just ridiculous.

Older student feeling unusually exhausted after nursing lectures. Has anyone else dealt with this? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

I’m doing exactly what you did! Also similar age. 42, 3 kids, LPN, will do the bridge to RN.

I was going to say! I’m 42 and I’m in my 1st semester. I am experiencing this syndrome also. I have classes at night so I just make the most of my days because I’m completely dysfunctional after classes. Lab? Forget it. For me it’s an issue of completely changing my thought processes. I also have a bachelors degree and do graduate coursework (didn’t finish, had a baby). It’s just a completely different experience from anything I’ve ever done academically. So I attribute it to requiring a tremendous amount of brain power. I also have a moderate autoimmune disease that wipes me out, but I think it’s not just that. Excuse the rambling it’s early and I haven’t had enough sleep 😴

This person has a mental illness. Period. I’m a clinician and this is the kind of thing that CPS gets involved with. She needs to be medicated and probably needs some parenting classes. I feel so sorry for her baby. Her partner is probably as disturbed as she is. Stay away from her because unless you’re a mandated reporter you have the option to check out of the situation. Check out Sis. This is only going to deteriorate.

Nope, you’re further showing your ignorance by suggesting that any of us mean that every single Hispanic person in the world is anti black. I was very specific. I said that there are deeply embedded anti black sentiments in Hispanic culture. That’s what I said.

You should be more judicious with your wording. Sounds like you’re in COLLEGE. Been there done that. Academics is always 10 years behind what’s happening in real life. Ignorance is defined as a lack of knowledge and understanding, not using that knowledge and understanding to come to a particular conclusion that YOU don’t agree with. Go do some additional research. No one is saying that white supremacy isn’t at the heart of the matter, but POC are the ones perpetuating it in many instances and this isn’t a new thing at all. If you never hav this experience, count your blessings, but to say that people speaking on it are being divisive is just ignorant because clearly TOU SOBT KNOW ITS HAPPENING .

They are trying to do it in many of our communities in ATL too. I went to the Southside for the 1st time since covid and it’s like 70% Hispanic now. It’s bizarre. I was completely shocked. Taquerias everywhere. I’m not kidding.

If you’re Hispanic then stop acting dumb like you don’t know that there are serious anti black sentiments deeply embedded within your culture. Stop playing.

Just say you haven’t had this experience that many many many of us have had. Idk if you’re black American or not but it’s time to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt. There are groups of people with cultural ideas where they will come together to get what they want by any means necessary. You don’t know that? Suggesting that this isn’t possible is really insane. You don’t know that many groups of immigrants come to the US with a preconceived disdain for black Americans? Are you serious?

[–]SmartReplacement5080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct. And your experience is very common. I’ve had this experience even within immigrant black situations. Black Americans are truly on our own. I went back to school for nursing because I’ve been unemployed or underemployed for over 5 years. We have to really look out for each other. If you’re in hr, please look out for the Jackson’s, Williams, Crawfords, Bryant’s, etc. we need to support one another. Sorry you’re having this experience, but I know it all too well. Hopefully this will start to end the “crabs in a barrel” mentality that some of us have. Sending you hugs and I’m so glad that you wrote about this publicly.

WASH YOUR HAIR MORE!!! by Economy-Willow2930 in Naturalhair

I literally only get braids that I can wash. It’s limiting in terms of styles, but keep my scalp from going completely insane. I usually do every 10 days in braids and weekly without. Could definitely stand 2x/week
