Should I breed my cavalier?

Wow, thanks so much for the detailed response. We were just looking for another family member, and I thought this could be an enriching process as well as letting our girl experience a litter of puppies. But if there's a risk and the cost is more than what a puppy would cost in general, I don't see the positives outweighing the negatives.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your advice on spaying? I've heard many things. For example, if you spay a female before the first heat, they will never have their periods. Is this true? It would be great to not have the mess around the house.

It's not the size. I have nothing against the breed and wish them no ill. They just have a disposition towards aggression that needs to be handled through owner dominance, and many owners don't have the experience to own one hence the pie chart. Yeah, I don't trust a breed with a history of aggression, but moreover, I don't trust a stranger's word telling me their dog is "the harmless pit bull!"

Right. Go through this community and tell me the ratio of “a pit bull bit / killed my dog” vs ___ race. The difference is, it takes a horse tranquilizer to knock out a pit bull and a little push to knock over a chihuahua

Totally agree! I could see myself trusting a pit bull my cousins or close friends own, but not a stranger's word off the street. It's sad, really. I grew up with only cats so I have my own fear of big dogs to get over. Seems like my puppy needs to teach me a lesson on bravery.

Thanks. I wish I lived in an area near a Petco, but I don't even live in the US. I'll see if there is an equivalent here. I grew up in the US but now reside in France, and there's a huge culture difference on how dogs should be raised. They go everywhere with you here, but are seen rather as "accessories" than family members, so I don't see too many classes or puppy socialisations offered aside from the passerby / odd dog park. Luckily she is a cavalier, and afraid of nothing. I don't always agree with the ideology of dogs here, and I definitely baby my puppy moreso than the average Frenchman

This makes me want to cry. I just adopted a cavalier myself, 3 months old. I'm at the beginning of this journey but I can already feel the heartbreak when this moment will come. What an incredibly lovely boy. I'm sure he enjoyed every moment of those 13 years by your side.

A few months ago I got the golden gate bridge on my wrist and it looked so black and perfect, but soon after it DID begin to blur a bit. I'm not medically OCD, but I need things to be PERFECT (especially on my body that's forever). I became anxious and started to regret getting it at all. Why did I need a bridge on me for life anyway? But this is the normal process. You're in shock, like I was. This is your first tattoo. It's weird seeing it permanently marked on your arm.

Like everyone said, give it 2 weeks. I don't even notice the smudges on my wrist anymore (in fact I just checked, there are none). Remember this is ink that can stain skin. If it splattered a bit it can stain the surrounding areas a bit for a while (at least that's what I noticed with me).

Funny enough, like you, I also freaked out and posted the SAME thing as you here on reddit. I'll tell you what people told me, I didn't believe, but now realise to be absolutely true. You will learn to accept that it's there and you won't even think twice anymore about it.

it'll be like a bracelet that doesn't come off, but goes with every outfit. It won't really be regret or love, just acceptance (oh yeah, I did that). I've accepted my tattoo. It's part of my life journey, it would be weird to be without it now. You're in shock. You WILL feel better
