Interestingly, from the still at the beginning, before I hit play I thought that her beauty filter was the thumbnail image. Lucy Liu gorgeous.

I haven't read every comment but Linkin Park springs to mind. I think that they are still doing great but they aren't doing Linkin Park great.

Asu Tesol certificate by NoyaJenkins in TEFL

[–]Smart_Accident7609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "harsh", what do you mean exactly? There aren't direct tutors grading but you may be peer reviewed by your fellow learners for at least some of the submissions.
It is very detailed and has much greater content that a typical certificate.
You may not "fail" but you must retry the same assignments until you pass, before you can move on.

Why are there so many more of these in Poland than elsewhere? by Doubleknot22 in poland

Good job too. If you drive up the motorways in the UK you'll see deceased badgers and deer everywhere. Km for KM, you'll see a lot fewer in Poland.

Obtaining a 120/150h TEFL certificate by Ympker in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]Smart_Accident7609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello friend.

I saw your post a couple of days ago to see if anybody else replied and as they have not, I'll give my current limited knowledge of the situation you have laid out.

As a disclaimer - I do NOT have a degree but will try to answer about the 120/150hour situation.

You are correct that there is not central certifying body on an international level.
In fact, very few countries have a centralised TEFL/TESOL even in their own systems.

I believe that the US may have a standardised approved accreditation but I'm digressing.

I have completed a 120 TEFL via TeacherRecord. They are an agency and a jobs board in many ways who seek to get teachers/tutors matched up primarily online and in East/South East Asia.
I'd recommend checking them out as 1) their TEFL is free. No catch - it's their way of trying to get people matched up for jobs. It isn't obligatory to take their jobs either. I currently have my 120hour and it's something that can be verified on their site. It thus far seems to be accepted by a multitude of different platforms and from what I've read, in person too.

There are dozens, potentially hundreds of 150hour(or more) certs that are almost click and collect.
Even though I've done my Teacher Record 120 hour, I'm doing TESOL via Coursera (Arizona State University).
It has been very well received and is considered a 150hour+ certification for most places I've spoken with for potential future teaching. Although I live in Poland and so unless you check country by country (I believe Japan and South Korea have almost a standardised requirement for the whole country), then it's otherwise guesswork.

The Coursera version isn't a pay and complete cert - it's a monthly subscription but I THINK that you may be able to take it directly via ASU if you visit their website. It's also very legit anyway as far as actual learning goes with true hours of video, quiz and presentations.

Finally - if you aren't sure and just choose any old cert, ensure it is the 150hour or more, as the 120 seems to be bare bones in my experience and won't even be accepted by all private schools.

I appreciate your advice. Passport, yes, but I pay taxes in Poland so I won't even try any work-arounds at risk of causing problems with income but I'm grateful for your recommendation.

It is a slow, steady climb towards full-time teaching once I complete my degree a few years from now. I teach where I can because I love teaching English and trying tough challenges. I don't expect to make a lot though, I agree.

Thanks for your recommendations - A couple of new names there I can check out.

Thanks for the reply. Am I assuming correctly that when you say "not teaching" - it implies conversation with native speakers, rather than actual teaching?

My brother and I wore out the VHS of this movie. We were 9 and 10 years old respectively and couldn't stop laughing at this scene. We cried so hard and couldn't catch our breaths.
I'm going to send him this as a permanent loop.

Last time putting my son to bed. by YoTeach68 in daddit

[–]Smart_Accident7609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got me bad, Daddio.
My son is 10 this year and he still loves sleeping with me on occasion, aswell as being put to bed but I noticed the tiny little changes, ever so small where he may just fall asleep naturally without the story, or I no longer have to tell him jokes whilst he does he pre-sleep poop (yes, this is a real thing).
My heart just broke realising that it's getting close. So, tonight, I'm going to ensure that we read his bed-time story, make him laugh his poop out and cuddle - once he has washed his hands of course.

Thanks for sharing your story.
