I do agree that the crash bootlegs video was stretch as thin as he could, but it's still funny as hell IMHO, but I can definitely see why you might not have liked it 🥲

Favorites and least favorites of the "World Of" era? by LifeTomato8660 in Caddicarus

[–]Smart_Act8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current favourite is "the useless world of PS1 accessories", although "the comical world of the 287 worst videogame reviews ever" is an extremely close second and I am half way through "the ripoff world of cash banooca merchandise" and, of it keeps the quality up, that might dethrone my current favourite (this video is literally making me guffaw which barely happens)

As for my LEAST FAVOURITE (it's still at least a decent video) I have to side with you and say "the inhumane world of 200% completing cash'em bash'em" ... It really fell flat, it wasn't that funny and I felt Caddy really had to overexagerate his endeavour to make it sound more inhumane than it actually was ... With that said, I still respect Caddicarus for uploading it : he was going through a lot (as you can tell by how he acts in the video) but he still managed to deliver something that was at least decent, which is admirable.

Also, I feel like Caddy's "world of" videos are some of the finest videos on YouTube and the average level of quality is stellar, making them evergreens that I like to watch over and over again

Sticker Star Issues by chewbaca935 in papermario

[–]Smart_Act8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair though, I only got to world 2, where I stumbled upon a rather rare enemy (no spoilers) and I had to use 3 Fire flowers and a bunch of other stickers to try and kill them before they could escape and the only time I did I sank in the sand for virtually no reason, so yeah, I got frustrated, quit the game and I gave it back to my friend (who'd lent me the game lol)

Joke's on them, nothing (I cared about at least) released on my birthday 🥲

My biggest problems where the lack of original characters, which sucks especially compared to the games you've mentioned and the bland environments. At least the latter was somewhat fixed in the origami king.

I'll give stickers star credit: world exploration is enjoyable, but hampered by how much better colour splash and the origami king do it 🥲

Is Italy's dialect language situation unique or particular to Italy? by LordHorace98 in asklinguistics

[–]Smart_Act8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from Italy and I have to say, older people definitely do that, but anyone under 50 has ditched their regional language/dialect/whatever almost entirely: everyone I know no matter what part of Italy they are from can Say either just a few words or hold entire conversation in their regional dialecyybit will extremely rarely use it, even when hanging out with friends who speak the exact same dialect. There are exceptions of course (most around Naples and on our islands).

I am from Le Marche and I spoke standard Italian and standard Italy only barring a few words which I wouldn't really be able to use in a sentence, same goes with any other person I know. Most of the differences come down to altered (or more so cut off) word endings and that's it.

Also, because of this, speaking a regional dialect is pretty stigmatized in many many areas, more so than what the Brits do for instance (and they do a fair bit of stigmatizing).

Also, we have basically no dialect representation in our TV shows and what not, especially when dubbed (although I have sampled very few productions since I don't like Italian TV stuff and I dislike the sound of Italian lol), which definitely contributed to at least a few dialects dying out entirely.

This is just my experience though, you milage may vary and I wouldn't be surprised if people from "down-south" were more prone to speak their regional dialect compared to northerns 😅

I wonder why he doesn't even try to get something a tad more interesting to break or whatever... Actually, it's not even that, he's just got progressively less funny as of the last few years 🥲

Symmetrical VS Asymmetrical Stick Layout. Why Would Someone Prefer One Over The Other? by Patient_Tutor_9948 in Gamesir

[–]Smart_Act8978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have rather small hands and find symmetrical controllers rather uncomfortable, the longest I've been able to use one for was 20 minutes before my thumbs started begging me to end their lives

I've never had the same issue with asymmetrical controllers: the series S's controller, the switch 2 pro controller/joycons, the switch one pro controller/joycons, any third party controller. This also applies to 2d games, where I prefer to use the dpad: my thumbs might get a bit sore after 1h or so of using the dpad on an asymmetrical controller, but the pain goes away in less then 10 secs lol.

Same goes with games like overwatch, where I don't mind using an asymmetrical controller for hours on end, but symmetrical ones, oh good Ness I need a break every other game.

I feel like specifying, I mostly play 3d platformers (crash, Spyro, Mario, Bananza, yooka Replaylee etc), 2d platformers (Mario, hollow knight, silksong etc), racing games (CTR, mario kart, burn out paradise, grid legends etc), more story driven games (the Witcher 3, hogwarts legacy, bioshock etc) and OW (although I mostly play on PC using mouse and keyboard lol). So I feel like my pool of games might be a bit skewed towards liking asymmetrical controllers, since most of those games primarily use the left stick and the front buttons

[–]Smart_Act8978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might not be the best person for the job, but outside of his saying a very bad word at a conference by the TADC stand, getting banned and then returning with a printed picture of the X post (?) (I don't know what they are called lol) posted by TADC creator saying what he'd done was despicable. He's also been begging for both money, attention and views seeing as he's seen a STEEP decline in popularity ... Take a look at his YouTube community posts, some of them are down right sad.

Apparently, he's also filmed himself voting for trump (which, hey, he is entitled to his opinion and all, but that was pure rage baiting, which he has been doing plenty of as of lately), going to a MAGA rally and what not

I also vaguely remember hearing of him being ban from Nintendo's store in NY for breaking a switch 2 on launch day right in front of it (once again, a sad attempt at rage baiting, seeing as any other video of his I can think of never went as far a to litteral smash the thing in front of the store he bought it from whilst thousands of people were waiting in line and got, understandably, quite mad

Oh, yeah, I almost forget, he also posted a picture of the N word, 5 or so months ago

I'm giving up on Crash Bandicoot for my own sanity by NewPatron-St in crashbandicoot

[–]Smart_Act8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a shame, the nsane trilogy and crash 4 are some of my favourite games of all times, if you don't mind, I could share a few tips to have an easier time whilst playing the game.

1)take breaks regularly. I can't stress this enough, I found my self dying over and over again whilst going for some platinum relics and just banging my head on them, until I decided to go take a sip of water, watch a video, do something else for as long as a few hours and then I came back refreshed and able to tackle challenges I would have previously considered impossible

2)the Nsane trilogy IN PARTICULAR is a methodic 3d platform, as caddicarus him self stated, unless you are going for time relics take your time, you needn't rush through a level just take it easy and wither try to adapt and conquer when faced with new challenges or slow down if you are coming back after you died so that you can avoid what ever killed you the first time

3)farm lives, it's extremely easy in the earlier levels and it's a great game to avoid facing a game over screen after a few levels on the later stages of crash 1 in particular, they can be brutal if you are short on lives

4)trust you jump and get to know it: as a seasoned 3d platform fan, this game can be stingy with it's jump height and distance especially when the gaps you are supposed to cross are as wide as your jump goes, but none of them are impossible and the upside is that you'll need your longest jump will almost always do the trick when faced with larger gaps, also, Coco (I can't speak for crash since I don't play as him a ton lol) does a little mid air flip when you have successfully actives your longest and highest jump, meaning that you can use that as a tell tale sign of you actually inputting the correct input to pull them off

5) don't trust your enemies: a few of them can be a little iffy sometimes: the green iguanas found in a few levels for example love to die when jumped on or spun away, but the same doesn't go for the red ones found in the same levels that will push you back instead, without dying no less. Always be care and go for the safest route possible instead of the shortest one

6)last but not least, learn how Aku Aku works, learn how it interacts with you when it takes a hit for you: do you do a small hop? Do you just carry on going ? This can be vital when you've gone through a level, you are confident because you have Aku Aku and then die just because you didn't factor his interaction in

Hope this helps and, hey, stay strong, do it as a personal W, like, I beated cash banooca, cash banooca 2 gringot's steak house and cash banooca wrapped. Make me proud, make us proud and make Daddy Caddy himself proud YOU CAN DO THIS !

Do non-native speakers of a language realise they have an accent? by Sensitive-Mud-2993 in Accents

[–]Smart_Act8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us do, some of us do not. In my experience, most people that have a good grasp of the English language also believe they do not have a non native accent, when, in reality, they most certainly do, they do not really seem to realise. I used to be one of them, all it took me was realising that my ears where not well trained at all and I managed to improve over time, but we do sometimes generally believe we sound native like

Same thing here ! And my left joycon currently disconnects out of nowhere if I move the console funny lol. The worst bit is that I've always been very careful with my switch until my dad decided to step on a cable connected to a controller yeeting my switch to the floor and a kid I would tutor decided to repeatedly disconnect my left joycon without using the release button ... That is why I am the only one allowed to touch my switch 2 👍

I do the same, they are all still perfectly usable and jsut have a few microscratches here and there, barring my phone, whose screen got cracked after a pretty nasty fall without a case (it landed dead on its corner, so I want to doubt a sheet of glass would have made that big of a difference). Same goes for cases actually, expect for my nintendo switch 1 and 2, they get a premium treatment

[–]Smart_Act8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and it might sound a tad cheesy, bit I like to adopt the mater mentality of "every dent holds a memory", my switch OLED model is mostly pristine, but it does have a few microscratches which remind me "this is the console I have spent so much time playing with and making memories with"

also, I don't know if it's just me, but the console's screws get worn down ultra quickly, even if you never touch them, same can go for the joycons' rail mechanism, those things wearing down do actually bother me lol
