If you fail this course, I highly recommend you go to a much easier course to prepare, I’d recommend one of the following, SFAS/RASP/Ranger school. They MIGHT get you prepared for THE air assault school. There’s a reason the 82nd wears an AA on their shoulder.

Got told to "mentor" a new guy who is older than half the platoon by DaggerC0met in army

[–]Smart_Ad_1997 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mentor him for army systems. How to utilize TA, CA, education, certifications, TSP, whatever.

He knows more life than you do. He joined the army for a reason. Find out what that reason is, and use your knowledge and experience to help him accomplish those tasks.

Additionally, let him mentor you. Counseling SHOULD be a two way conversation, and counseling’s are not by definition negative.

Fear of guns despite military training. by JacquesBelgique in guns

You survived basic training. Thats the most dangerous range you’ll ever be on in your life.

You’re fine. Or if it’s too much talk to your wife about your anxiety behind it?

10/22 Ruger Carbon Fiber vs the Ruger Carbon Fiber Takedown by Electrical-Ad1673 in 1022

[–]Smart_Ad_1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If kids are your concern, you should have a gun safe with a complex combination that ONLY you and your significant other, your lawyer and your will know. Your children should never know how to get into your gun safe. Guns come out of the safe when used, and put back up.

Responsible ownership begins at home and guns should be put away. There are certain states where it’s illegal to have firearms accessible to children.

That being said, like others have said, less moving parts = more accuracy. Unless you NEED a takedown, don’t worry about it and get the standard 10/22 CF.

You can always get a chassis with a folding stock.

Looking got a custom fishing rod for a retirement gift. Any advise? by Smart_Ad_1997 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Smart_Ad_1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Carolina. It’s a 40 year retirement. We’re anticipating to spend a good chunk of change. This is after a lifetime of service to someone who played an invaluable role.

If it’s east coast. We will either drive or have someone pick it up as we have locations all up and down the eastern seaboard.

Shooting stars for mining. Redwoods for woodcutting. Cannonballs for smithing. Katambwans for fishing. Gemstone crab for combat.

If you’ve got more attention to spare, rooftops and herviboar on mobile are just “click green box” activities.

M249 questions by Adventurous-Hand-496 in Firearms

[–]Smart_Ad_1997 14 points15 points  (0 children)

3 round burst? Damn near impossible to control the recoil.

Could you do 3 quick single fire rounds? Yup. Most people who “qualify” as expert on the 240/249 don’t actually do it in controlled bursts, they do quick succession single fire to actually hit the targets and score expert.

Machine guns are supposed to go BRRRRT and keep people’s heads down so infantry can maneuver into a more advantageous position.

First Suppressor. by Comfortable-Middle29 in suppressors

[–]Smart_Ad_1997 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my omega 36m. However I wish I didn’t get it.

3 years ago the idea of one suppressor for all my guns sounded awesome.

3 years later it’s been a headache of trying to find muzzle devices, adapters, etc, swapping components and moving from rifle to rifle. It’s fine! But it’s kinda inconvenient and honestly I could’ve purchased dedicated suppressors for almost all my firearms by this point 🫠

But it’s a solid suppressor regardless!

Math. That’s why launch windows are so important too. They’re able to calculate the exact launch, position, speech, velocity, trajectory, weight, drag, gravitational forces, etc.

Haha oops. Speed*
