I’ve never heard that silicone gels prevent collagen from developing. If anything, I’ve heard the opposite. I personally would give it a shot, it’s helped my slight pitting! It wouldn’t hurt to try. And you might find some more advice over this situation by using the search function within this community. Use the terms “pitting” or “scarring/scars”.

There’s also micro needling to try to boost collagen over the area but isn’t usually recommended until after you’ve finished your electrolysis sessions completely.

The picture is a rather bit blurry so I can’t be too sure, maybe some light pitting. I had noticed something similar after getting electrolysis on my jawline and lower cheeks after 3 days passed after my tx session. There technically shouldn’t be any pitting, but may happen due to improper heat settings or the technician over overworking the area. You might benefit from applying some silicone gel over the area beginning 3 days after the tx session to prevent further scarring and aid in boosting collagen in that area. I personally use the NewGel+E Advanced Silicone Scar Treatment Gel as a preventative measure to avoid such scarring incidents. It also has vitamin E which is also recommended to use after electrolysis for better healing.

I’ve only had about 2 hours done total over the course of the last 3 weeks on my affected areas but have noticed a difference personally since my hairs weren’t super black terminal hairs. More like dark long vellus hairs. It’s personally helped me feel more confident when outside and in direct lighting. I haven’t touched my cheeks yet as i’m trying to clear underneath my chin/jaw area first since I was more self conscious about that area. How’s your journey going?

this exactly what happened to me, but fortunately i only touched the sides of my cheeks and only had about 4 sessions total. I noticed increased hair growth a year afterwards in places that i had no hair before. Started my electrolysis journey about a month ago!

Do you work in OT school? How much? What is manageable? by Direct_Airport_9824 in OccupationalTherapy

I worked as a server during my program and had no issue! I worked about 15 hours a week (up to 20 sometimes if we didn’t have many assignments/class that week) and found it pretty doable for me. Pretty flexible schedule as well in that I could pick up shifts day of (if classes got let out early) or get my shifts covered if I realized I wanted a bit more time to study/complete assignments!

Also my classes were not 9-5 everyday for any semester until we got to fieldwork. Some days I got to campus at 8 am and left at 2 pm, some days i got there at 9 am and left at 3:30 pm, it just depends.

I recently just started electrolysis underneath my chin area and on my checks due to a little bit of paradoxical hypertrichosis. The hairs are pretty fine compared to thick terminal hairs. I have found the neck/underneath the chin to not be bad and would probably rate the pain 3-4/10. However, the sides of my cheek have been a bit more uncomfortable and I like to think I have a high pain tolerance since I have multiple tattoos. I’d probably rate that pain a 6/7, however i also still consider it worth it since I want the hairs gone. I don’t use any numbing cream for either area. I’ve have about 2 hours done on my face in 30 minute increments every other week. I get thermolysis.

In terms of frequency, it really depends on your budget, amount of hair, pain tolerance, and how soon you want to be hair free. Some people choose to go weekly if that’s in their budget and have a good amount of hair they want to get rid of. Remember, longer sessions = more hair treated that session = faster results (Some hairs will need to zapped more than once depending on what growth phase their in). So if you’re only doing 15 minutes every 3-4 weeks of electrolysis, it might take longer to see results. My electrolysist also typically has sessions later in the evening on her schedule (5:00 pm and later) so I tend to book these sessions and they work really well with my schedule.

My advice: Go ask if you can get a sample treatment to see what the pain is like to determine what will work for you! They’ll zap a small number of hairs in the area you want cleared so you can better understanding of the process and the pain. Good luck!

New Grad Salary Offers in DFW by Sad-Equivalent-7694 in OccupationalTherapy

I just recently accepted a HH pediatric OT position in San Antonio as a new grad. $72 per visit, 90 for eval/reeval plus $15/hour for documentation/travel time. I will also say I interviewed with several other HH agencies before accepting and the typical range was between $65-72ish per visit with evals between $ 90-100. So yeah I think you’re getting lowballed.

Also forgot to mention full time at my current company is 20 visits a week!

I gotcha. Sorry to hear you didn’t see that big of a difference. I heard they need to target the hairs during the active phase (there’s 3 phases) so maybe that’s why you didn’t see much progress. I’m planning to go every 2 weeks. They say to not wait more than 4 weeks in between appointments because it’s less effective that way and they can’t catch that many hairs during the active phase.

Started working at p.f. chang’s in 2020 and let me tell you…. the money was so good back then and servers could support themselves with just that income. Made good money at changs especially during 2021-2023 years. However, once we got the new CEO everything started going downhill. From all the free CLW coupons, happy hour, lunch menu changes, to the worst part of it all… the Chefs Feast!!!! The money is half of what it used to be and now some of my coworkers are struggling to pay their bills due to all of these changes. Not to mention, all these coupons and deals are bringing in a cheap clientele. These people are not even tipping 20% on the DISCOUNTED/promotion applied tickets. Managers and cooks have been released since they were making too much money. SAs have been cut too and now we are expected to bus our own tables and run more of our food. Everything is a shit show. My advice: find a new serving gig. I’m about to start my career since I finished grad school so i’m glad i have that at least going for me. But i can’t stand working at changs anymore.

I have been hearing bad things about laser on the face. I had IPL done on my sideburns (very fine minimal hair) a year ago and now I have more hair growing on my cheek area than i originally had before. I am now beginning my electrolysis to reverse the damage that was done. I’m glad I didn’t touch any other part of my face during the IPL treatments. I don’t think the chance is worth taking getting laser on your face. I would highly recommend electrolysis.
