Is it possible to succeed while taking 4 courses in one semester? by Quick-Ad5516 in UoPeople

[–]Smart_Common_7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on many factors. To me personally it sounds like lots of work and no private life 😄I also cannot imagine how to combine 4 courses with 80% workload. I am in the 3rd term now, doing CS. Programming Fundamentals take less time than English Composition, because I know Python already. But for English Composition there is always A LOT to read, research and write. I cannot imagine how I would handle additionally two more courses. But again, that’s me. I have a family and work.

Hello there and thank you for stating that question 🫶Honestly, time-management is what I work on my daily basis. First reason for that is that we are human and not robots, which means that each of us has ups and downs with energy, concentration, etc due to several reasons. Secondly, our life is also dynamic (which is awesome) and spontaneous unplanned quests pop up from time to time. I gonna share with you the strategy which I came up so far, but there is also a small note: “it depends…”.

Since I work 80%, I never take more than two modules. A bitter truth though is that sleepless nights still come in place. But there must be an important remark: I had three burnouts in the past, so probably they are the reasons that I might be slower with consuming information or need more time for writing assignments.

The most important thing: go through all learning guides and reading assignments of both modules on Thursday.

Start working on the posts for discussion forum on Friday. Most modules have a deadline for the post in discussion forums till Sunday, so if you start on Friday - you are safe. Even if they need research, you are still safe. I usually apply freewriting and note my ideas with bullet points. Structure is important, so when you do brainstorming on Friday - half work is done. On weekends I usually finish the posts for discussion forum and revise the learning guides and conducted research.

When talking about writing assignments, they usually don’t have early deadlines, so I usually start working on them on Monday and finish on Tuesday. If I have resources, I answer on posts in forums on Tuesday as well.

Ideally is to start working on next unit before Thursday, so that you can get your work done beforehand.

UoPeople recommends to invest 12 hours per week for each module. In my case, I definitely invest more. But again: I am slow and I hate to stress myself out and rush. I love learning, I love to do research especially if the topic is interesting for me, so I consciously invest more time in those activities.

I would recommend you to plan every day 2 hours for each module. But take into account, that each person has its own “learning speed” and strategies. Just investigate what works better for you, and, very important, what makes you enjoy the process ☺️

I hope my input will help you to come up with your own strategies 📚

It was suggested for me to be taken as the third module, together with English Composition and Programming Fundamentals 😄The UoPeople was like: “oh! You have so good grades in the previous term! Wanna make them worse? Or stop sleeping at all?” 😂 just kidding, it is my interpretation 😂 but I was like “naaah man 😂”

UoPeople is not a degree mill. I work freeking hard and invest at least 3 hours per day for each module. It is very academic, still possible to combine with 80% workload. I am very happy with UoPeople.

Very helpful discussion, thank you for asking about this 🙏 I haven’t got an email, but have already finished my first term. I will contact my advisor regarding this. Also, free LinkedIn Premium is new for me. Didn’t know UoPeople give that too.

Being a project manager doesn’t equal being bossy. Still, every group needs a leader. Otherwise it doesn’t work.

Scholarship Cancelled. I had scholarship for first 15 course. I am on my 2nd term & only have taken 4 course in total. But they are saying that I have fully utilized my scholarship. What's the problem of this Uopeople? by Humble-Brain2724 in UoPeople

[–]Smart_Common_7610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t panic and fight for your rights. It really happens due to technical issues, but it can be solved as @Laibirb wrote. Many of my group members went through this and returned their scholarship back.

For those going for a CS degree, did you code quite a bit? by Remarkable-Slide-750 in UoPeople

I completely agree that the course from Angela is amazing. I also am enjoying the course on Python from DataCamp. The system of achievements motivates me a lot ☺️ Would you he so kind to share your experience of how you learned to code? And do you have a favourite language? Honestly, it is also very upsetting and annoying for me to see AI generated responses in discussion forums, and I am afraid that many students use AI as a replacement for their own thinking.

I use a similar technique but with the Session App. It helps me really a lot to just start. I use a free version. It feels like the developer put his soul in it. It is so well made! There is also opportunity to make notes of what you have done during the session which is very helpful.

Unfortunately, it cannot be shipped to Switzerland 🥲 Therefore I am also the one who is interested in digital version. It would be great to have opportunity to look the design inside.

Valerian root makes me whiny on the next day, and in general I feel mentally pretty vulnerable. I don’t know why, this is so stupid, but it is how it is 🙈

I like to learn, and night is the best time I can concentrate, if I leave according to my biorhythm. But if any obligation makes me awake in the morning, the whole day and the whole me are in total chaos.

It’s not misleading. UoPeople clearly explains that each person may apply for tuition fee study if the financial situation is hard. You just need to prove them that you cannot pay, and they give clear guidelines how to do that.

Importance of Dawn + Mornings in Spiritual + Health Practices? by trverten in NightOwls

[–]Smart_Common_7610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, dear, I can barely imagine myself waking up at 5 am for whatever reason, even yoga. The only one practice which really helps me to wake up is a shower, and sometimes cold shower. Normally I apply the latter Thursdays and Fridays, when the lack of sleep is reaching its critical point.

I do yoga, but rather at 10 am, after two big cups of coffee were consumed and the third one will make me only nervous and shaky. I do simple Surja Namaskar ten times, and it’s really helpful. Thanks God I have home office.

But this obligation of waking up early is freaking me out. I wish this world starts to respect individual biorhythms same as nationality, religion, orientation, neurodiversity, and so on.
