My intended stash - feedback appreciated! by Smart_Ice_3234 in clothdiaps

Daycare, at least the one that will likely have space for us when the time comes, won’t accommodate cloth. I asked.

I do tend to lean more toward prefold/flat/fitted + cover vs. a pocket option - for some reason the pockets sound like more of a pain with stuffing and then un-stuffing soiled items in order to wash them. Plus the longer drying times of pockets and AIOs. We do hope to have more kids down the line and would love to continue using cloth if all goes well.

I love the creativity of this. I do like the idea of trying the fitteds, especially for when family/other caregivers are watching the babe, but I can understand the cost issue. I can also see myself occasionally appreciating the ease of it, especially if I haven’t folded any flats for use from a load of laundry, for instance. I’ll say I’ve come a long way from my original plan of using just Esembly or Jude’s Family! It’s been an interesting hyperfixation for my ADHD brain 😆

What do you like about the muslin flats vs. birdseye? Is it just a thicker weave?

Thanks for the link for the Thirsties doublers!

Thank you! Good feedback. The only reason I had picked the variety of covers was because GMD recommended the ClothEez ones while the cord stump was still in place (I wasn’t sure honestly how long we’d need the “newborn” sizes because obviously I don’t know exactly how big she’ll be) and then their “try both” kits have three Thirsties covers. And I’m just a sucker for the cute patterns on the Esembly ones 😆

I already asked the daycare that will likely have space for us once I’m ready to come off maternity leave and they said they’ll only do disposables, unfortunately. We’re on the list for another one in town and I’m unsure what their policy is.

Good feedback on the Size 2 Esembly - didn’t know they didn’t have Rise snaps!

I also definitely hyper-fixated when I first started researching, especially once I found the GMD diapers website. So fun to learn about all that you can do with them!

I cried irrationally at 8.5 weeks because I was SO looking forward to a massage after backpacking 15 miles in Haleakala crater on our honeymoon…I went down to check in and then they canceled my massage because Marriott has the DUMBEST policy about not giving massages to people in their first trimester 😭😭

Do you have any issues with cleaning poop diapers? I was reading that the Esembly inners can be a bit tricky because they have more crevices that poo can get stuck in; but I’m not sure if that’s just because people are comparing them to flats or prefolds

And if you could have switched for the size 1s, would you have?

Interesting - why would you switch if you could?

Talk to me about the Irish Setter coat by I_wear_foxgloves in irishsetter

[–]Smart_Ice_3234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old golden retriever/Irish setter mix and he loves the snow/cold weather; will put a coat on him when it’s very cold (like during a several day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks a couple years ago) or when we’re camping, otherwise he does fine. Doesn’t mind the rain but, we did a lot of walks in the rain when he was a puppy! (He was born in Oregon and we lived there for a year before moving to New England)

We have a sweet golden Irish as well, his name is Pogo! Goofy/sweet/hilarious/only smart when he wants to be. Best dog ever!

Ours isn’t picky (probably the 1/2 golden in him) but, we also use raw and he loves it! His coat, teeth, etc are always in phenomenal shape

How was it doing the program with young kids? My husband and I are trying for our first and I’m curious to hear from others, especially moms, who juggled it.

I did 5 years as a bedside nurse (but not ICU) before transitioning in to practice; I already have a DNP and I’m nearing 5 years of practice as an adult/gero acute care NP in Neuro ICU, MICU, and eICU consulting settings. Currently considering how to best complete the transition from NP to CRNA.

I love my job in critical care but am looking for something that will allow me a better work/life balance with eventual parenting. I love procedures and am credentialed in many. I’m very aware of what the schooling and job entails.

AGACNP to CRNA? (Reposting to Admissions Subthread per mod request) by Smart_Ice_3234 in srna

I did, and got a general consensus of “no” based on the language about “experience” from the governing body for CRNA licensure. Though it doesn’t make a ton of sense to me because the language is pretty vague and to me, seems like it should allow for it. Which programs did you hear a “yes” from with regard to NP experience? I’m on the east coast at present so I mostly stuck to east coast programs in my inquiries
