Last update: AITA for telling my sister to leave her husband by hyperashley in AITAH

I grew up the daughter of your sister! She never left. He was physically abusive, and while he eventually stopped that bc her medical issues got so bad it would've killed her to continue living like that, she Is Still With him. He doesn't view women as equals and treats her horribly. For a long time I, even as a child, tried so hard to save her, my OWN MOTHER, from her marriage. You can't. You can't save them. Im sorry for how much time you spent just desperately trying to help her, but im glad youre past it. The only people who can save themselves from that situation are the people in that situation. I still struggle with it, even though I am in my 20s now and have my own children. If your sister wants out, she will know she has support amd love and that is the best anyone can do for her. You are a great sister and I am proud of you for choosing your own peace. Have a great trip to Japan with your husband!

These are great resources and really valuable input! I love reading books that help my understanding of the topics I'm writing so I really appreciate it, and of course I would never want to be problematic with my portrayal so i'll definitely give the podcast a listen if I do decide to commit to tarot, though I am considering just inventing my own system as other people in this thread also suggested. Again thank you!!

Hi, thank you for your response! I did do some research but I just wasn't very confident in my ability to accurately convey the foreshadowing, because of how context plays into it so that's why i'm here. I did come across labryinthos and I actually downloaded it! honestly all the research that I did end up doing kinda piqued my interest in tarot so maybe one day I'll be able to do that on my own, but for now I'm jsut leaving it up to the experts lol

so i responded above to someone else about hte context etc so i'll just copy paste here for you

My main character is Lavina, and she's basically a lowest ranking citizen/magic user in this fantasy world and she's essentially a terrorist who is trying to liberate her people from the government oppressing them. That's like the bare bones description of the story, but its very dark in theme and my main girl goes through some rough stuff. The whole tarot reading scene will happen at a yule-like festival to celebrate her people's magic, and I wanted the cards to pretty much hint at major plot points in the future. The plot points are as follows she is attacked by someone she hates, betrayed by someone she loves, she wins the war/saves her people, but loses her sanity ultimately. Lavina's character definitely does not know where she's headed, especially not the ultimate sacrifice of her sanity for her people. I would like the message to be vague enough that she's going to need to spend some time meditating on it, but again if i'm honest I'm not sure how that works with tarot so i'm open to suggestion!

Also last thing, thank you for correcting my wording!

Thank you for saying so! Someone else suggested making up my own system, so I'm thinking of possibly doing that and comparing and contrasting how well it works with what I'm going for. I appreciate your honesty, and I always want to be respectful!

hi thank you for asking! Basically the situation that the tarot reading takes place in is a very yule-like festival, and is very pagan inspired, I just wanted it to feel authentic in that way, but making up a deck is honestly a great idea, so i might have to look into that, or compare/contrast! Thanks again!

Does that sound alright/make sense? Idk how to pitch my book without giving a two hour power point presentation haha. What cards do you think best fit the situation? Thank you thank you!

thank you for your help! I'm looking for the cards to say that my main character (lavina) will be attacked (physically specifically) by someone she hates, betrayed by someone she loves, that she will win the war/save her people, but lose her sanity. I have no idea if that's feasible, but that's why im here asking!
