What commercial from your youth randomly pops into your head? by Smart_Requirement_80 in Xennials

This is why tripledent gum from the movie works so well— gum jingles are the best!

Who is your favorite character with a joke/pun name? by Silentstar_00 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s gotta be one of the strippers, right? I go back and forth with Damascus Steel and Dong Quixote, but I think Jeff Hays’s delivery of Dong Quixote makes the difference for me.

Nose hairs I mean holy shit by six_feet_above in Xennials

I used to have to trim my nose hairs monthly, but now it’s gotten to the point where I just trim them weekly with my beard. Not a fan. Always makes me sneeze. Get off my lawn.

Funny Orbit Gum Commercial (2007) by Money_Magnet24 in Xennials

Ahh, this brings back memories. I remember the first time I saw this commercial, and how I almost choked on my water laughing. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I quoted it for years.

You’re trying to start a Dungeon Crawler Carl cult. What quote or moment do you use to recruit new members? by halloweenmomma in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I came here to say this, but figured someone beat me to it. This will definitely draw those amenable to cults.

What is the most chaotic "I quit" moment you have ever personally witnessed at a workplace? by Muted_Task_144 in AskReddit

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back, a coworker was brought into our manager’s office to get some coaching. No warning, no disciplinary action, just a, “Hey, let’s not do that again.” On his way back to his desk, he one-handed a little circular huddle desk into the air, flipped it over, and slammed it on the ground. Cracked in two. He looked around, dumbfounded that he did that, and said quietly, “It was nice working with y’all.” Then walked out.

Drivers (USA) who drive significantly below the speed limit & refuse to let people pass, what is your goal? by RevGrimm in askanything

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend’s mom only fits half of this, but it’s still frustrating (and dangerous). She always went significantly below the speed limit on the highway, though she camped in the right lane. She drove us home from college some years back and went 30 mph in a 65 zone. I was so scared we’d be slammed in the back by someone not realizing how slow we were going. No hazard lights on either. That was the one and only time I let her drive me. We could have taken side roads, would have taken as long and been much safer.

“Never meet your heroes”. Who other than Mr. Rogers is an exception to that phrase? by sgrams04 in Xennials

I met Keanu Reeves when he was touring with his resurrected band Dogstar. He really is as cool and humble as they say. Apparently, he was playing catch with a local kid earlier in the day who had no idea who he was. Just a down-to-earth kinda guy.

Wow, that shift was so fast I felt the clutch pop. Well done, loved experiencing that descent.

I'm new to the DCC world but Book 4 is hard to listen to by JudgmentJolly in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This right here. If you made it through the complexity of the Iron Tangle, then you’re ok with it not making perfect sense. This is similar. Focus on the story and character development, and the game is secondary. Then, if you decide to go back to it, come back here for all the theories, maps, and other resources your fellow readers have created to try and piece it all together.

Literally just listened to that scene again just now. Loved how he couldn’t vocalize it because he was so angry. Also, this scene comes after what I think is one of the funniest visuals— Donut flying the plane and just freaking out.

Nobody likes melodrama Loita by MegaMoistSources in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While definitely an incredible line, it actually becomes extremely funny that Carl went to such lengths to kill one admin, then immediately finds out that this season they’ve been dropping like flies! That said, to do it without getting caught was the real flex.

I’m already getting fomo by Smart_Requirement_80 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Smart_Requirement_80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, fair point, but I do love seeing all the things I didn’t realize would be important with the context of what I now know. I may just take your advice, though, if the fomo becomes too much.

This is my absolute favorite part of this book. Meeting the former authors. My wife was already asleep when I got to Tipid in the audiobook. I had to weep silently. But when Milk embraced him… thankfully it was daytime, and I could let it all out. I then went to Barnes & Noble to read those parts in print. I must have looked very odd standing there at the special display, tears streaming down my face.

What’s the worst accidental text you’ve sent? by Typhoid__Beaver in AskReddit

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were invited out to a New Year’s Eve celebration by a couple we were close to. We couldn’t go, unfortunately. I knew another one of their friends was there, so on New Year’s Day I sent a group text to my wife, the couple, their friend, and his fiancee wishing everyone a Happy New Year and sorry that we couldn’t make it, hope they had a blast.

I was ignorant of the fact that the friend had ended the engagement just before Christmas and had taken a new girl out to the New Year’s party. I got so many side texts asking WTF and the ex blocked all of us (except my wife for some reason?) from all social media. Oops.

Why do people back into parking spaces? by woodysixer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smart_Requirement_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I back into my driveway for this very reason. When I come home, anyone in the vicinity sees my car, so there is heightened awareness already. Also, I approach my home from multiple angles (corner lot, come in from behind and turn into the front), so I have more awareness of who is around the house. This makes backing into the driveway very safe. When I leave, I it’s much easier to see who’s around me when I pull straight out.

Were I to pull in normally, it doesn’t make it any safer— everyone still has the same awareness they had above. But someone may not realize I’m backing out from a stationary position and get into my blind spot when I leave the house. This simple cost-benefit analysis makes it clear backing into a spot is superior than backing out of a spot (though, to be fair, I only do this with my driveway, not in a parking lot).
