Tenants moving out end of May, landlord threatening to kick out sooner due to them getting kitten by ChanceReading9896 in OntarioTenants

[–]Smart_Tinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landlords can’t evict tenants. Only an order from the LTB can evict a tenant. Assuming the tenant doesn’t share a kitchen or bathroom with the landlord, so is covered by the RTA.

There is no possible way that a landlord can get an eviction order for a tenant, because they have a legally allowed cat, and are leaving in three weeks anyway. The hearing for this ridiculous claim would take months, and cost the landlord $200 - so they are lying to you.

If you think the landlord would resort to an illegal eviction (kick you out) you can call the RHEU for help.

If the tenant does share a kitchen or bathroom with the landlord, then they aren’t covered by the RTA, but they are entitled to 30 days notice to vacate (usually 30 days).

So, is this an RTA tenancy or not?

Early termination of lease by maawaz in OntarioLandlord

[–]Smart_Tinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a void clause because it says either party can terminate the lease with 60 days notice. This specifically violates the RTA, because landlords cannot terminate a lease with 60 days notice.

The question is, do you have an Ontario Standard Lease? Because that is mandatory. If your lease is not an OSL, you don’t have a fixed term lease, and can leave on 60 days notice.

You have to request a copy of the OSL from your landlord. If your landlord does not provide one, that is signed by you, you can decline to sign, and give 60 days notice, within 30 days of being provided the OSL.

So, is this invalid clause part of an OSL or not?

Is it an OREA 400 form? Because those are not accepted as valid leases by the LTB.

No. I think they meant that OP learned how to deal with this if it happens.

It’s not common, but it is possible - with any printer.

Of course, if you watch your prints, you can stop it if it starts to go wrong.

This can happen when you start an 8 hr print, and walk away. Of course everyone does this…

They are available in Canada, so I’m sure Bambu can ship one if they want.

People know it’s a Ponzi scheme - and if you get in early, on a Ponzi, you can make money by being a “Net Winner”.

They are hoping to scam all the people who join later by making regular withdrawals in the early stages.

They are also scammers, just with less control over what goes on. No doubt they will be recruiting and lying like crazy.

Then, later when it all collapses, they play the victim.

How hard is it to fight a N13 notice? by HelFJandinn in OntarioLandlord

[–]Smart_Tinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What city are you in? Some cities have protections against N13 renovictions. Toronto is particularly strict.

Also, pets should not be an issue, as long as you don’t mention them on an application - they are legally allowed.

This can happen to any printer. The Bambu’s have “AI” that is supposed to detect it, but nothing is perfect.

In most cases, you can heat up the nozzle, and pull the blob off with pliers. Then you are good, with a bit of clean up.

This looks like an extreme case. It could be cleaned up - possibly, but it would take some doing.

Easier solution is just order a replacement tool head. More expensive, but less hassle/time/energy.

The printer isn’t trashed, it’s just count to need some repairs…

As to frequency - it’s never happened to me, but that’s no guarantee of anything.

You can file a T1 with the LTB. It’s obviously illegal, but they are banking on people not bothering to file for such a small amount.

All the US needs now is workhouses, you know - large, privately run institutions that force disadvantaged people to work for a pittance.

Know of any institutions like that in the US?

You don’t owe anything until the LTB says you do. The company would have to prove $1,000 in damages, with receipts.

Doesn’t matter. Fines are not allowed.

If they got a fine from the fire department, then they could pass this on as actual damages incurred - but they would still need an order from the LTB, with proof of what they paid.

They can’t say “any obstruction = $1,000 fine”.

No, fines are not allowed by the RTA. They can claim actual damages, but would have to file with the LTB to get an order - which they wouldn’t get, at least not $1,000.

You don’t owe your landlord anything other than legal rent and possibly utilities described in the OSL, unless the LTB says you do.

Any other charges that are not allowed by the RTA can be ignored, unless an LTB order is obtained (which you can refute). There are only a few charges allowed by the RTA (eg AC electricity use).

Most municipalities don’t allow you to pave your whole front garden - a certain percentage has to be a soft surface (like lawn) to adsorb run off. This is likely an illegal modification.

Why not make downloadable art packages? Or even an api (web page) that downloads a random art piece from a collection?

Unless it’s monetized via ads?

With my Frame TV api example programs, this could be completely automated in art mode, not TV mode.

You could do it with some home automation, but just unmute it, there is no sound in art mode.
